I’m new to all this stuff I normally just use the console but I got a Lenovo Legion and I got Faugus launcher to run games on desktop mode. And it was working for a while but then it completely stopped. When I try to run my exe files it says "Steam Runtime is up to date” before just closing. I tried using Flatseal to give it permissions but nothing is working. I’m taking any suggestions thank you.

I’m not a pro player or anything, I just play League of Legends after work to relax.

Recently I switched to Linux because honestly my PC just runs better — faster, smoother, more stable. I didn’t expect it to affect my games this much, but now I can’t play League at all because of Vanguard.

And yeah, I get it — anti-cheat is important. Nobody wants cheaters.

But it feels a bit frustrating that the only option is basically “go back to Windows or don’t play”.

So I was thinking — why not a middle ground?

What if Riot allowed Linux players but:

• put them in separate matchmaking
• or disabled ranked for them at first

That way:

• no risk to the main player base
• Riot can test things safely
• people like me can still enjoy the game casually

Also, more and more people are moving to Linux lately (privacy, less background stuff, better performance), so this might actually grow over time.

I’m not asking for full support overnight, just… some way to play again.

Curious if anyone else is in the same situation.

so i am currently trying to make the Fanatec CSL Pedals & Loadcell to work
the wheelbase i use the fanatec CSL DD pro worked out of the box but the pedals refuse to be mapped in any game the wheel base works in most games with ffb my linux distro (mint) does see the pedals that are connected via usb and it sees the inputs i do even after installing hid-fanatec nothing has changed for the pedals they just wont get recognized in any game
i searched for days now and used ai to help my research i starting to think it isnt possible
there is one thing i havent tested due to not having the rj12 to rj12 cable to connect the pedals to the base directly.

Does someone know if what i am trying is even doable to begin with ?

Building a new computer. Intending for it to be a daily driver family PC.

I do like older games: StarCraft, warhammer dawn of war dark crusade, etc.

Struggling with analysis paralysis as far as choosing a distro

I’m familiar with Ubuntu which I used for some college classes. I mostly use a Mac as a YouTube machine and have an OLD windows machine with a nvidia 970 gpu. The windows machine plays what I want it to but I’ve been wanting to play some new-ish games like space marine 2. My old machine can barely run a game like darktide.

So, I guess my primary question is: can Ubuntu or a different distro play the old games I like and the newer games I want to play?

I am experiencing a graphical issue while playing The Last of Us Part I on Linux using Proton 10-34.

As shown in the screenshot, there is a severe rendering problem affecting the scene. The lighting and textures appear incorrect, with an abnormal washed-out/overexposed effect outside the doorway. The environment looks foggy and lacks proper contrast, making distant objects blurry and poorly defined.

Additionally, shadows and textures inside the building appear darker than expected, creating a strong visual inconsistency between indoor and outdoor areas. This results in an unnatural transition and overall degraded image quality.

The game runs, but the visual output is clearly broken and impacts gameplay experience.

OS: Linux (Arch-based / CachyOS)

Proton: 10-34

i have tried every guide online and it just crashes or application could not be started or any random shit, i had it run only once but it would run 32 bit game only so i couldnt run csp thus doesn't count, why is it even marked as gold on protondb

I'm relatively new to Linux and have been doing some experimenting. I know my laptop isn't for gaming, but I'm just a casual gamer. I previously used Linux Mint for about a month and was able to play Arknights Endfield (and Wuthering Waves) on it with no graphical issues. It also runs fine on Windows.

Recently, I decided to try out CachyOS. The game boots up, but I'm getting severe pixelation and blocky visual artifacts on the screen (see attached video).

Here is my setup:

Laptop: ASUS Vivobook 16 X1605VAP (Intel Core 5 120U @ 5.00 GHz)

GPU: Intel Integrated Graphics (iGPU)

Mesa Version: 26.0.3

RAM: 16GB RAM

OS: CachyOS (KDE Plasma 6.6.3, Wayland default)

Launcher: Lutris

Runner: DW-Proton Latest

Storage Setup: The game files (launcher/exe) are on an external exFAT SSD so I can share them with my Windows dual-boot, but the Wine Prefix is on my native Linux drives.

Here is everything I have tried so far to troubleshoot (none of which worked):

Switched Display Servers: Tried running KDE on X11 instead of Wayland.

Swapped Kernels: Tested linux-cachyos, linux-cachyos-lts, linux, linux-lts, linux-hardened, and linux-zen.

Environment Variables: Added Intel-specific variables (ANV_GATHER_WORKAROUNDS=1 and MESA_VK_WSI_PRESENT_MODE=mailbox).

Cleaned up config: Made sure I wasn't using any conflicting variables like STEAMDECK=1, STEAMOS=1, or vulkan-1=n,b in the Lutris DLL overrides.

Since the game worked flawlessly on Linux Mint's older packages but is glitching heavily on CachyOS's bleeding-edge updates, I'm guessing this might be a newer Mesa/Intel driver regression.

Is anyone experiencing the same issue? Are there any other fixes I can try? Any help is appreciated!

Im trying to get the seamless coop ds3 mod to work on linux endeavouros, the game launches fine but i cant move, only make my character face the direction i press wasd. The issue doesn't happen when i launch ds3 vanilla, only through the mod.

i followed the instructions to extract the exe and folder into my ds3 files, set the mod as a non-steam game to run with proton. already tried reinstalling and verifying ds3 and the mod, using gamescope with gamescope -W 1920 -H 1080 -r 165 -f --force-grab-cursor -- %command%, removing steam overlay, used: cmd=(%command%); cmd[-1]=ds3sc_launcher.exe; "${cmd[@]}" in launch options, running through proton tricks and other proton versions, but none of the fixes work : (

any help would be appreciated ! : )

I’m currently running bazzite kde on a dell precision 3420 with a quadro k1200.

As it says in the title. I was previously running gw2.exe via lutris (as it came with the distro) with no issues. However, after installing (and now uninstalling) bottles, there is a nasty screen flicked whenever I try to run the game. I tried reinstalling it, installing different version, switching though various versions of wine and proton (all via lutris) and it juts won’t go away.

Ergo I think bottles messed up something in wine itself.

I really don’t want to do a fresh install of the distro over this. I just got everything else the way I wanted. Any advice anyone could offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hey everyone,

Since September 2021 Easy Anti-Cheat (Epic’s own anti-cheat) officially supports Linux and Proton. Yet Fortnite is still not playable officially on Linux, even on Steam Deck or popular gaming distros like Bazzite, CachyOS and Pop!_OS.

We’re not asking for a native port — just flip the switch on the existing EAC support.

Been on Linux as my daily driver for about two years now and finally got around to properly testing whether Metin2 p-servers (in my case WoM2) works. Tried it once or twice before and gave up quickly, but this time I figured it out.

The setup:

1. Download the client as usual
2. Add the launcher executable as a non-Steam game in Steam
3. Go to the game's properties in Steam > Compatibility > check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool"
4. Try Proton 9 first (that's what worked for me)

That's basically it.

In my case other proton versions caused the launcher to freeze during the initial update, while Proton 9 went through without any issues. Though this might differ depending on your system and the specific client.

As for other private servers: most Metin2 p-server clients share the same architecture, so the process should be pretty much identical regardless of which server you're playing on.

If this worked for you, let us know which p-server you tested and whether you had to do anything differently. Happy to answer questions if something doesn't work for you.

I made a tiny wrapper for Roblox on Linux because Sober is an android emulator, and the android roblox version has way worse graphics. That's why i created VineShade.

I put together a quick launcher that hooks vkBasalt into the Flatpak properly.

It’s open source, no injection, no bans.
