I want to switch to a linux distro and I don't know which one is the best for Minecraft and overall gaming.
I want to play Minecraft (1.8.9, 1.16.5 and 1.21) with the best possible frame rate and my specs are:
Processor: Intel Core i5-7200U (2C/4T, 2.5-3.1 GHz)
RAM: 8GB DDR4
Storage: 256GB SATA SSD
GPU: Intel HD Graphics 620
Display: 15.6" 1366x768
OS: GGOS WIN 10 20H2
I tried mint mate and had issues with like latency and input delay when moving my crosshair in-game.

Axyz - finally a "Kula World" for PC and with a native Linux version
Any tips for Empyrion Galactic Survival ? KBM input lag.
The game is very slow with responding to the keyboard and mouse inputs. Monster Hunter is doing the exact same thing! I can press and release the key input before the game responds. ( At the same time all the other Steam games run fine. )
Kubuntu 24.10 with AMD hardware.
Still cannot find the right combination of launch commands and Proton version to fix it. Lutris did not help.

The Division 2 Bad Performance After a While
I'm trying to get the division 2 working. im playing with steam. im using these launch paramaters.
LD_PRELOAD="" VK_LOADER_LAYERS_ENABLE=VK_LAYER_MANGOHUD_overlay_x86_64 %COMMAND% gamescope --hdr-enabled --mangoapp --force-grab-cursor -w 2560 -h 1440 -f -r 240 -- %command%
my problem is i can only get the preload command to work if i put it first. im not sure if there should be two %command%. the game will launch with this setup but hdr doesnt enable.

The Rare Tech Giant That Actually Gives Back
I was thinking about Valve as a company as I was sitting on the toilet at 1 AM, and it hit me—despite being a massive corporate entity with the majority of the market share in PC digital game sales, they genuinely seem to care about improving the PC ecosystem rather than just chasing short-term profits. Compared to companies like Microsoft—who often seem more focused on their stock price and pushing tech nobody asked for—Valve’s contributions to gaming, Linux, and open-source software feel like a breath of fresh air.
Their work on *nix, Wine, and Proton has been game-changing, making Linux gaming more viable than ever. And the fact that they actively market their products on a community-driven OS instead of treating it as an afterthought is something we rarely see from a company of their size. It honestly reminds me of Google in its early years—before the corporate bloat took over.
More than that, they remind me of how companies worked in the mid-20th century—where quality and innovation mattered more than constant, unsustainable growth. In an era where SaaS dominates, privacy is constantly under attack, and tech companies seem more interested in locking users into walled gardens than actually making good products, Valve stands out. They’re not perfect by any means, but at least they’re trying to do something different. And for that, Gabe deserves a hug.
Would love to hear other thoughts—does Valve deserve more credit for what they’re doing, or am I being too generous?

are there any games for linux like counter strike 1.6?
I have a weak processor and i don't want to use wine
i love games that are realistic like cs emulating very nice game mechanics and purely aim based shooting games not something fancy like ev.io or krunker.io :(

Halo: Combat Evolved low FPS when in fight
I am running Halo Custom Edition with Wine 9.22 and DXVK 1.10. It works great but has severe slowdowns when there is too much happening on screen. I tried disabling particles and decals but it still tanks. This is low-end device (2GHz quad core, graphics Tegra X1, 4GB of RAM) but it still should run better. There are newer games that run better and I read that Halo has some ineffective particle rendering. I tried to search in wine forums but it seems to be fixed for others while I have still this issue some claim to be fixed. Game has chimera.ini but I do not know how to disable double buffering and if it even helps. What worked for you or what can you recommend to me?
Thanks a lot in advance

Thanks to r/linux_gaming for the boost in sales of my horror game! As a token of my appreciation for your support, I inverted the colours of the Steam graph so that I could use the original Tux for this thank you image :3
Any way to use Flydigi space station WITHOUT VM's?
I have download the oficial "Flydigi space station" from their site to configure my direwolf 2, but.. the controller does vibrate when the software starts, but the software itself doesn't recognize the controller as connected. I already tried using other windows versions on my wine prefix, AND using it via USB, but no game still.
Is there any other way than using Virtual Machines for this?
