something with proton or nvidia change like a week ago?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 2 Apr 2026 - 12:47am

Everything has been great, almost everything runs without problems until about a week ago.

Elden Ring/Nightreign won't even work, both freeze once you get into a game.

Games that worked great with these launch args to get HDR no longer will run unless I remove them.

PROTON_USE_NTSYNC=1 WAYLANDDRV_PRIMARY_MONITOR=DP-4 PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 gamemoderun %command%

I run Proton EM, and I haven't updated it in almost a month, so I know it isn't because of a new version. I believe my nvidia drivers have updated since then.

Games that worked fine for a year or more, no longer work.

I play pretty much everything through Steam using proton EM, I also tried switching to Proton GE latest and Proton Experimental, doesn't seem to make a difference. I can't think of anything I changed on my end.

Who's heard Little Richard sing "Shake a Hand"?

Gamers on Linux - 2 Apr 2026 - 12:21am
This is Little Richard The preacher, This is something so different from the rest of his work that it could only be at the very center and heart of his work or it would have died in him long ago.

Enjoy, I could not give better advice than Little Richard offers us if I tried.

Linux is an important way to maintain your privacy. I have many concerns about anti-cheat going forward. I made a little video about it

Linux, Windows and anticheat stuff.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 1 Apr 2026 - 11:02pm

It has been about 5 months since Windows announced its last support to Windows 10. And since then people have been migrated to Windows 11 AND to Linux distro.

But I believe a lot of people have been staying on Windows 10 because the last Windows 10 support update have an expiration date. The last update was/is that support will end on October 2026. Windows 10 support set an expiration date for one year.

In an attached image you can see is an active Rust player count, screenshot from Steam page. I believe that active player count will drop significantly nearing Windows 10 support expiration date. So people will either switched to Linux distro at the last minute or stay on Windows 10 entirely.

I switched early because I did not wanted to switch at the last moments because of the security concerns.

Now because of easy anti cheat stuff on multiple online games that are running only on Windows (Rust, Riot, etc...), they will see a significant drop on active player count that are leading up to October 2026.

Note: When I asked AI web about active player count decreasing numbers that went from 120.000 slightly over 100.00. I wanted to rant and to make a point about that easy anti cheat stuff should be added back to Linux. Now that I have seen the statistics, I'm making a prediction.

Steam overlay not working on TF2

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 1 Apr 2026 - 10:57pm

Using Arch and this has never been an issue before. But unless I use forced compatibility layer now, the Steam Overlay simply won't open.

I've updated the system and even rebooted my entire PC.

Does anybody know what may cause this and how to potentially fix it?

Thanks in advance

Running Ubisoft games, purchased through Steam?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 1 Apr 2026 - 9:44pm

I bought Far Cry Primal during the Steam sale. However, when I try to run it, the 'Far Cry Primal' splash screen launcher window shows, and then I get an error 'Unable to locate Uplay'. I imagine it's looking for Uplay/ Ubisoft Connect in Program Files (x86), and errors out when it's not installed there. Has anyone run into this issue/ found a fix for it?

Most of the 'solutions' I see are for people that are misunderstanding OP's problem, and are assuming that OP bought the game on Ubisoft Connect, and are having trouble with Ubisoft Connect.

[Fedora 43 KDE] GPU Screen Recorder capturing audio but not video, resulting in a video with a black screen.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 1 Apr 2026 - 9:31pm

The images I've attached are my settings for the replay/clipping feature, but have this same issue on regular recording as well. I've taken a screenshot of my fastfetch as well, so I hope this helps with whatever's stopping me from using this software.

New open-source tool: Debian Gaming Setup Project — one-command automated gaming environment (v3.5.0)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 1 Apr 2026 - 9:00pm

Hey r/linux_gaming,

I just open-sourced my Debian Gaming Setup Project. It’s a single Python script that walks through and attempts to fully automate a complete gaming environment on any Debian-based distro (including Ubuntu, Pop!_OS, Mint, etc.).

It handles:

  • GPU drivers (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel)
  • All major platforms (Steam, Lutris, Heroic, ProtonUp-Qt, SOBER, Waydroid)
  • Performance tools (GameMode, MangoHud, vkBasalt, GreenWithEnvy, etc.)

Features dry-run, full rollback, interactive menu, CLI presets, and extensive logging. Zero external dependencies.

Repo: https://github.com/Sandler73/Debian-Gaming-Setup-Project
Wiki (full docs): https://github.com/Sandler73/Debian-Gaming-Setup-Project/wiki

Would love feedback on issues, performance, suggestions on areas to improve or testing from anyone running Debian-based gaming setups!

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 1 Apr 2026 - 8:39pm

I tried using chiaki and it worked, but unfortunately I need to be playing through my linux laptop in order to play. I cant just play normally with my controller, and have it project. I want to have it project in a window like Chiaki does so I could stream on OBS or Discord.

Anyone have any ideas?

Diablo 4 Help

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 1 Apr 2026 - 8:05pm

Hi! Video attached for help explaining. But every time i boot into Diablo 4 it seems that randomly the game just likes to freeze. It still understands that I am hitting buttons and doing things, menu sounds can be heard as I click around and it keeps playing the music as if nothing is wrong. I have no idea how to fix this and nothing i look up has given me any useful advice whatsoever. Sometimes I can get into the game and play up until i need to TP to town, or sometimes i can make it to the loading screen before visually it freezes there as i hear the game load me in correctly to wherever i last was. How the fuck did this happen and how do i fix it.
