Roblox Sober can't update

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 7 Aug 2025 - 7:23pm

Ever since last night Sober refused to work.
At first it just said that I had disconnected and needed to reconnect but whenever I tried to join any game it would say that, I checked if I was still connected to wifi and I was it was just that Sober wouldn't respond.
I powered down my system and then it told me that i needed files from android which I very much did not have. Then I uninstalled and reinstalled, powered down my system again and when I got back it told me an update was required. I copy pasted the code into terminal, and it successfully uninstalled but as you can see on the left it couldn't reinstall, and when I tried to update flatpak it just told me, "Nothing to do."

I wanted to play Honkai Star Rail on my archlinux laptop

the launcher closed, game screen came for a split second and disappeared.

i have checked the logs and encountered these

info: OpenVR: Failed to locate module
warn: OpenXR: Unable to get required Vulkan Device extensions size
ERROR: ld.so: object 'libgamemodeauto.so.0' from LD_PRELOAD cannot be preloaded (cannot open shared object file):

Steam LIbrary on Failing SSD

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 7 Aug 2025 - 6:24pm

My Linux Steam library is on an SSD that is failing. (5000+ Non-correctable errors according to smarttools and some ATA hardware errors when trying to play some games.) The Steam library is NOT the default one in my home directory. If I replace the drive and recreate an empty directory with the same path and name as the old Steam Library, other than needing to re-install games, what bad things will happen? Any suggestions?

Steam and proton games wont open with my graphics card

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 7 Aug 2025 - 6:03pm

Hi, I just bought a low profile graphics card for my pc, it is a AMD R7 450, I decided for this card since it was cheap and my computer is not that new, I installed it and it worked fine (Attached a screenshot of neofetch)

https://preview.redd.it/jxopvetcdmhf1.png?width=842&format=png&auto=webp&s=4096eb8cc8439c2c115b0cb5f35bfff54be57c4c

But for some reason, every time I try to open steam it starts to open but the steam web-helper just wont open, it gets stuck on a loop where it tries to open but closes itself immediately

Not sure if this helps but this shows up on the terminal when the loop starts

I did some research online and found the command "DRI_PRIME=1" which is for opening with and without the dedicated graphics card (1 and 0 respectively) so I opened steam with the intel integrated video and the webhelper worked fine, but when i tried to open a game with the command DRI_PRIME=1 (so it used the graphics card) it wont open.

i thought it might be a issue with the amd driver so I tried to search about it but I always found that people say to just use the amdgpu graphics that come with the kernel

Then i tried to reinstall steam, installing it via flatpak, resetting it but nothing changes this behavior

I'm not that tech savvy and at this point I'm out of options so I hope you can help me, I'm attaching some extra info as images

Virtual Display for Sunshine

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 7 Aug 2025 - 4:58pm

Hey all, after a whole lot of distro hopping I have settled for Fedora and have been loving it. On windows I was using a fork of sunshine called Apollo, used it to stream on moonlight clients on my steam deck and TV. It had auto resolution and a virtual display, my pc screen used to get disabled when ever i was streaming to a device and the resolution for the desktop was automated.

Sunshine works out of the box, I wanted to achieve something similar on Linux, auto resolution and pc screen being disabled when i start a stream. I am using a ryzen 7600 with 4070Ti Su. Can someone help me with this or direct me towards the right path. I looked into virtual displays for wayland but honestly have no clue how to achieve this.

Bottles doesn't fully close

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 7 Aug 2025 - 4:25pm

How can I fix this problem? Also, when I shut down the computer while Bottles is still running in the background, it takes like 2–3 minutes to turn off I guess it's waiting for Bottles to stop.
