Has anyone managed to get Reshade working with PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1 and DLSS enabled?
Basically, I'm playing trying to play Crimson Dawn with RenoDX but if I remove the PROTON_VKD3D_HEAP=1 flag the game freezes the moment I enable DLSS upscaling.
When I leave the flag on and install Reshade the game looks extremely dark.
Currently using proton-cachyos-10-0.2260330 with 595.58.03 drivers.

How do I play Fortnite on Zorin OS?
Hello everyone, I apologize in advance if there are any English mistakes, unfortunately I am not yet fluent in the language. Getting to the point, I recently migrated to Zorin OS. It's my first time using Linux, so I don't know the "tricks" to get the game running. I would be very grateful if you could help me with this. Thank you for taking the time to read this post. Have a good day!

SILENT HILL f: Why is it rendering my surroundings like that?
I'm running the Steam version of SILENT HILL f on Kubuntu 24.04 using Proton GE 9.27 and the surroundings are messed up especially trees, vines etc.
I'm using an RX580 GPU and have 32GB of RAM.
My PC dual boots Windows 10 and it renders fine on it although at a lower framerate (~30 opposed to ~50 on Kubuntu). I have seen videos of people with different distros play this game pretty well on the same GPU so I think I might be missing something

Switching to Zorin OS Was the Best Move I've Made for This PC
New convert - Only issue so far is sunshine custom resolutions
Switched over to CachyOS recently and honestly been really liking it. Feels fast, clean, and way less bloated than Windows — everything just runs nicely.
Only real downside so far is Sunshine + Moonlight. On Windows it’s way smoother, especially with virtual monitors. On Linux I just can’t get that working at all. I use the virtual monitors with my Mac / iPad to get full screen native resolution on windows when my partner wants to use the tv.
Spent a couple hours messing with it (configs, EDIDs, etc.) but NVIDIA just seems to block anything custom, so no proper virtual display setup. Only option seems a edid emulator but even that feels not guaranteed
Not a dealbreaker, but definitely a step back for streaming. If anyone’s actually got this working on NVIDIA, let me know how.
Vibepollo and Apollo had these features but were windows only

Corrupt Update Files
Hi friends. I just installed Linux (Pop!_OS) for the first time after being a lifelong windows user, and I'm running into a really weird problem. Whenever I try to install Monster Hunter World on steam, I get this error "Corrupt Update Files". I've tried rebooting, reinstalling steam, clearing download cache, and ran a memory test, all of which did not fix the problem. What's really weird is that it seems to be ONLY MHW that does this, every other game is downloading and installing perfectly fine.
Please help, thanks!

Has anyone successfully installed the mod on Linux?
I'm having this complex conundrum that I can't solve. So basically, steamwebhelper occupies localhost 8080, which is needed for the super competent and well designed patreon authentication system. I got around that by closing steam, and all of it's services, and then copying the mod to the root folder of AC, then launching the ACE executable through Lutris. The mod was successfully authenticated. I then downloaded and installed most of the required mods in the downloads center.
But then comes another problem. Races won't start, I figured that it had something to do with the whole prefix systems. I tried solving that problem by copying the AC documents data from the steam prefix to the ACE Lutris prefix. But that didn't seem to solve it, now I just get a notification "click here for race over". If anyone, who successfully was able to install and play this mod on Linux, can you please tell me exactly what you did? I would really appreciate it.
I'm using Bazzite with KDE Plasma.

Crimson Desert Stuck at 85% usage until a pause with FG 9070XT
Tried in both Nixos and Fedora using 9070xt with Mesa 26.0.3 and 25.6.3, tried proton-cachy, GE, and EM using wine Wayland, HDR, and FSR4.1 on quality and balanced with NTSYNC
Game is in 3440x1440 ultra wide with every setting maxed, averaging about 80fps with 100% gpu usage. However If fps drops below 60 gpu usage drops to 85% and it does not recover unless you pause the game.
I also tried testing with optiscaler and it is 100% reproducible for me and toggling FG to restart it fixes the usage issue.
Curious if anyone else is running into the problem? And or has a fix
EDIT: CPU is 5700X3D, issue does not occur on windows

Sentinel - An Achievement Watcher for Linux Proton Games
Hello beautiful people,
I have built a new app to display achievements for your proton games on Linux. You can just add your prefix path from launchers like Heroic, Faugus and you get a nice native popup for each notification.
You can check it out on Github.

OBS flickers when recording games in footage (Screen Capture PipeWire)
(FOOTAGE SLOWED DOWN)
Whenever I record games with OBS, they do this weird sort of flicker every 5 or so seconds. This flicker is one or two frames long so I had to slow the video down, but they really get in the way and are noticeable even in 30fps. I can notice this flicker even in the preview in the actual OBS.
I'm on CachyOS (KDE Wayland), I use an RTX 3060Ti with a R7 5700x, I tried both obs-studio and obs-studio-browser, and this sort of issue occurs with any game but any other window is being recorded just fine. Any help would be appreciated

[HELP] Stellar Blade crashes on Linux with interactive objects
I've encountered this problem, and my attempts to solve it have yielded no results. Every time I pick up an object (not just this box) and release it, the game freezes, then crashes with a fatal error. What could be the problem?
My PC setup:
CPU: Ryzen 9 5900x
GPU: RTX 3070ti
RAM: 32Gb (4x8gb)
Disk: M2 1tb
Cachy os + Niri
This problem with an interactive object (like the one with the box in this video) also happened later in the game where I needed to move a cart.
My procedure: Hold RT -> move or hold the box -> press B -> crash the game
What I've already tried:
- Changing Proton: GE, Cachy OS, experimental - nothing
- Various launch parameters, including none
- Disabling mods and any files
- Reinstalling the game
- Switching from Niri to KDE (x11)
None of the above methods helped, or maybe I'm just stupid. If anyone knows what the problem is, please help.

jstimeout: auto-disconnect idle Bluetooth controllers on Linux [originally for DS3s]
I made a tool several years ago, that I've upgraded a lot and turned into a more formal AUR release so I thought it may be worth sharing here.
If you use Bluetooth controllers on Linux you've probably had one stay connected for hours after you stopped playing, draining the battery. I wrote a small Go program that monitors input events and force-disconnects the controller over Bluetooth after a configurable idle period.
Originally wrote it for DS3 controllers since Sony baked the idle timeout into proprietary firmware and you literally can't change it without a PS3. But it works with any BT gamepad, you just add the device name to a config file.
Has a deadzone filter so stick drift doesn't reset the timer. Runs as a systemd user service, also has udev rules if you only want it running when controllers are connected. In the AUR as jstimeout-bin and jstimeout-git.

I built a gamepad on-screen keyboard for Linux, no mouse needed
There's no good way to type on a Linux HTPC with just a controller. Steam's keyboard works but requires Steam running. Every other virtual keyboard on Linux (Onboard, Florence, etc.) needs a mouse pointer, isn't feature rich, or is a dead project. The console-style grid keyboard that takes D-pad/stick input directly just doesn't exist on Linux.
So I made one: https://github.com/0x90shell/gamepad-osk
- D-pad/stick navigates the key grid directly, no mouse emulation
- Second stick moves the mouse at the same time so you can click into text fields while typing
- Copy/paste support
- Face button shortcuts (backspace, space, enter)
- No Steam dependency
- Works well with Sunshine + Moonlight streaming
Written in Go. Hook it up to an evsieve chord, a Sunshine prep command, whatever works for your setup. Open to bug reports and PRs. Note: Wayland auto-positioning not currently implemented as it's non-trivial but I'd look at it if enough people wanted it.

Games for my 2015 MacBook Pro running Linux Mint?
Hey everyone, I just made the switch to Linux Mint(first user, bear with me!!!) on my 2015 13-inch MacBook Pro. It has 8 GB RAM with Intel Iris graphics. I know classics like Half-Life 2 run fine, and I also enjoy cozy games. I’m curious about what else it can handle, how well it emulates, and how far I can push it. Any suggestions would be amazing. Thanks!

Streaming only the game audio on Discord?
On windows you could just select the game, hit stream and stream only the selected app's audio. On Linux however you stream everything except discord (so game + browser or anything else). Is there a way to stream only the selected app's audio? Preferably without creating virtual audio devices and redirecting their audio there - as much automated as it can be.
I'm on CachyOS if that's important and I'm pretty new to Linux (had couple of attempts over the years, now trying to do the jump completely)

Anyone knows how to fix this?
Some games (noita and slay the spire) will launch, sound works but it only shows my screen not the game. Tried reinstalling, changing versions and updates etc the only way I can get the game to work for a few days is to delete and reinstall steam.

VKD3D in 3 games - Very interesting performance results
This is with Fragment Shader Interlock merged. A LOT of DX12 games now launch with VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_1 and performance is much better than I initially thought. Resident Evil is on everything maxed out (yes, even textures) in 1600p and despite the fact that it should have been running out of VRAM (I have 8 GBs VRAM and the in game settings were like 10.3 GBs I think) it works like an absolute champ close to 60 FPS at all times!
Cyberpunk is buggy still but this is on Ultra at close to 30 FPS with FG on!
Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered also runs really well with close to 40 FPS most of the time on High (Very High would cause a GPU hang so I had to reboot) with FG on as well!
In general this is some amazing performance considering Fragment Shader Interlock is not yet even merged normally (I used mesa-tkg-git on Garuda Linux). Exciting stuff! :)

Bannerlord (BLSE) + Linux + Proton: Can’t Play With Mods
I can’t run Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord with mods on Linux (CachyOS + Heroic + Proton).
The game launches normally, but when I try to run it with BLSE, I get errors and can’t open the modded version of the game.
Is anyone else having this issue? How can I fix it? Is there anyone who can actually play Bannerlord with mods on Linux?
