I installed MvC3 via Steam which according to others should be running fine. To get it to work (performance-wise) I need to run with the "use_wined3d" flag but it appears that textures are either not being rendered or misrendered or something of that nature (most character models are either black or blown-out white)

Anyone have any similar experiences or aware of any known issues? This is with an old AMD card (Radeon HD 7970), in case that might be a factor.

Has anyone experienced any rendering issues on MvC3 via Steam (Ubuntu Studio 24.04)? If I try to run it normally it launches but is basically useless performance-wise (like a frame every 15 seconds if I'm lucky), if I launch with use_wined3d it performs well but is definitely misrendering a nontrivial number of textures. Effectively the character models appear either mostly black/textureless or blown-out white for the most part. Any thoughts?

This is on older hardware (Radeon 7970) and I'm not expecting miracles, just figured it was worth seeing if it could be playable.

When I try to launch the game "Dread Delusion" the game just brings out a window for a split second and then crashes. Below I am gonna paste the crash report I got from wine when trying to launch by setting the path directly to the exe file in the launch options on steam.

As of tonight, whenever I launch a Wine/Proton game, I will hear a little crackle & pop from my soundcard (this is normal when it initialises at login, but not afterwards, and not when merely adjusting the volume). Pipewire volume is reset to <something low> and ALSA volume to 39% (out)/0% (in); then Pipewire volume is reset to what it was before while ALSA volume stays at 39%.

None of this should be happening.

The channels mentioned vary depending on the audio interface Pulse (/PW) is pointed at, but my usual audio interface is affected either way.

This happens regardless of Wine or Proton version (including plain old wine-staging from the Arch repos) and whether Steam is involved or not.

Needless to say, it also happens across all wineprefixes.

It makes no difference if I use OpenBox (X11) or Plasma (Wayland).

So far it has not happened with Linux-native games and applications.

Existing pipewire or wireplumber processes keep running throughout this… anomaly.

as the title reads, both the control and shift keys on my keyboard are no longer being detected in steam games, the keys work on everything else, just not in game, Ive tried restarting steam and the computer, but that didn't fix it, Ive tried other keyboards and different USB ports and still nothing. both the operating system and steam are up to date, Ive looked through other forums and haven't found a solution. please help,

I think my GPU fans are not running, Idle temps are 42C, junction 42C and memory 60C. While gaming thing go 60C, junction 60C and memory 70C+.

Mangohud shows RPM are at 0 and even the chasis glass gets hot. Also I'm getting thermal throttling

What should I do??

I managed to get a workaround working where I used proton tricks to change the version of windows that the game launches with to windows 10. However, after installing the required files for fusionfix and entering the dll override command that is linked on their github page, none of the modded settings work.

Hi, to keep it simple, I am the creator of Proton For Old Vulkan. Basically, it's Proton with patches and DXVK 1.10.3. If you want to see more, read the roadmap in the README or se what its new on the last release Sarek9-13

I want to ask anyone who has an old Intel HD graphics card or had one:

Can you use DXVK 1.5.1?

That's all I want to know. Mainly because if the answer is yes, I will consider close in the future make a build for Intel HD graphics (Vulkan 1.0) with all the patches that can currently be used by AMD and Nvidia users with the current Sarek version.

For some reason, steam is able to recognize my controller in calibrations and buttom mapping...but in-game isn't working. Tried multiple games: tekken 7, mortal kombat komplete edition and stardew valley. Steam input is ready.

I am going to give my current set-up to my brothers for some money, so decided to do this little upgrade, as I have had my PC for 5 or so years and because I live in a small studio would love to get ride of my massive tower Ha ha ha. I'd say my budget is roughly 2000$ (AUD).

I do some gaming, sometimes AAA games, big chunk indies, but I am not a competitive gamer. I have a 2k monitor and happy to play 60-120fps, most of the time the computer will be used for work research, admin, productivity, entertainment etc. I have put together some builds with varying parts, what do you guys think, are the parts overkill? Cost worthy for long-term use, I'd use for easy another 5-6 years? part compatibility (I will probably be using Mint and or Pop_OS)? Any help will be greatly appreciated <3

On Steam Proton, am I the only one with the issue? It was working fine some 6 days ago, now it doesn't launch anymore. The play button just goes back to say "play" after some 5-10 seconds. Tried different Nvidia drivers, Proton versions, reinstalled the game several times etc. Still not working.

On Ubuntu 24.04 with RTX 2060 card

Hi Everyone,

I recently switched over to Linux about a month ago and have had generally no issues with both native Linux games and Proton compatibility. I was able to play The Finals about 2 weeks ago on linux with no issue but now seem to be having weird visual issues. It wasn't even around their weekly patch releases that it broke so don't think its a Finals thing. ProtonDB users seem to report that The Finals runs pretty good now that EAC is working but I can't seem to replicate that on my end. Im not afraid to dive deep into the game files or CLI, Im just unsure where I should start to figure out why rendering this specific game is broken.

The Problem (Pictures Attached):

• Majority of the Textures are just Black.
• Lighting is all over the place, either way to dark or completely washed out.
• Trees and other foliage are missing leaves.
• Graphics settings are the same they were on windows with the Medium preset

Hardware Specs:

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
• Memory 64GB
• GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070 (Nvidia Driver 560.35.03)
• 1 TB SSD
• Distro: Arch
• Kernel Version: 6.10.7
• Desktop Environment: KDE Plasma 6.1.4 (Wayland)

Troubleshooting Steps (No Change):

• Looked on ProtonDB to see what launch options were working for the Community.
• Reinstalled the game from scratch
• Tested Proton Experimental and 9.0-2
• Switched to X11
• Dropped Graphic Setting to low and restarted.
• Google searches related to this game mainly bring up posts about EAC not working. Nothing mentioning Texture and Lighting issues.
