My Experience and Troubles
So I am a long time linux user. That's not to say that I'm an expert in linux, not by a long shot. I can usually figure out or find the answers to things thanks to running Arch for about 2 years until I got tired of something going wrong and breaking something (surely because of me).
I've been hearing that Linux has now come a long way into gaming and I for one want to support it but NO LONGER running windows because FUK WINDOWS which is a cancer.
Now that rants over. I recently installed Pop!_OS because I wanted a more Debian stability over Arch. (I'm sure I will get hate for that, whatever your experience will differ) I started off with using Bottles to install WoW.
Problem 1: Got it installed running the latest proton runner and it was working fine until I actually started fighting. That's when the frame rate dropped so drastically that it became unplayable. Once I got out of combat it was back to being smooth (arguably smoother than windows) I tried to lower the graphics and all that, but no cigar.
Problem 2. I then tried to load it with Lutris and the agent doesnt just freeze it won't even get to the WoW launcher without error-ing out and failing.
Problem 3: Not to mention I can't get my Logictech G502 x to work with piper or any other mouse program made to solve this and forget about the Razer Tartarus Pro, that's not recognized by openrazer or Polychromatic (unsupported device 1532:0244)
So here I am. Hoping someone online can help run this on my PC that's AMD CPU & GPU. I don't want to go back to windows because I have hated Microsoft for YEARS now. But what else can I do to game?? I want that flawless experience a lot of gamers are having on linux.

Any solution for this
I have this video "rendering" / "no signal effect" issue on Bazzite on the Legion Go. It mainly occurs during cutscenes, while there are no problems during gameplay.
I also tried using Proton GE 10-12, but it still doesn’t work and gives the same problem as other Proton versions.

Just realized you can theme the GRUB boot menu… so here’s mine (Hollow Knight)
Been dual booting Ubuntu + Windows for a while and only today I found out you can actually customize the GRUB menu with full themes.
Dropped in a Hollow Knight theme I found on GitHub — looks so much better than the boring black text.
Theme link: https://github.com/sergoncano/hollow-knight-grub-theme
Honestly didn’t think I’d care about my boot menu, but now I kinda do.

This is the reason why there is so many anti cheat.
according to a few links.
80% of the players encountered a cheater online.
they said as well they would play less or stop playing on that game
or spend less on that game because of cheaters.
here another scary part.
73% of players are willing to share their personal informations to stop cheaters !
sources
https://insider-gaming.com/report-gamers-encounter-cheaters-online-stats/
And
https://mp1st.com/news/73-gamers-share-personal-data-stop-cheaters
Edit: don't vote down guys this is a serious issue for us the Linux users who are protecting our privacy and our safety rights.
This will just encourage big company to do more data scaping on users with more invasive anti cheat programs.

Limo mod manager suddenly stopped deploying mods
After a couple days of extensive reading and testing I finally got Limo to work and started modding Skyrim SE. Went through the basics, patches, bug fixes, some textures, optimizations and just when I managed to make DynDOLOD work by installing the extremely dodgy dotnet48, it failed because DynDOLOD Resources SE was missing. I was sure I had installed and deployed it and the DLL mod, and the TexGen Output, but after checking the game data folder indeed the files weren't there. First I thought it was a problem with DynDOLOD, even checked for incompatible versions, installation was fine, but reinstalled anyway. Nothing changed. It was then I had the idea of undeploying and redeploying all mods. And no mods were redeployed. The staging directory is still there with all mods installed, Limo says all mods are deployed, but nevertheless no files are created at the game installation folder. Maybe it has something to do with all the hoops I had to jump to make DynDOLOD work, namely, to make protontricks install dotnet48 I had to delete a registry key from the Wine prefix in which the game is installed. I only mention this because every mod was working up to that point. Also important to mention, I'm using Flatpak Limo, Flatpak Steam and Flatpak Protontricks. Flatseal with proper permissions (I think). The game is installed in the default directory (/home/.var/flatpak/...) and this creates a known issue with hard links so I had to use sym links as the deployment method. In the GitHub page is mentioned an issue with sym links, so maybe that's what's going on. I still haven't tested 1) moving the game to a different directory and 2) changing to copy as deployment method. Tomorrow I should have time to try.

How to Troubleshoot Games Not Launching in Proton?
Hey Guys,
I have AFL26 installed on Bazzite on my Lenovo Legion Go S, which works just fine, yet on my CachyOS setup, it doesn't open. I have tried using the Proton log to pin down the "what" but I can't figure out the issue.
Basically, you press play and the game just crashes. Interestingly on Proton 8, you do get a popup that suggests the game can't find the Steam API, but everything from Proton Experimental to GE does literally nothing.
The fact that it just works out of the box on Bazzite makes me think its specifically a CachyOS problem, I just don't know what I'm looking for in the logs.
Any help would be appreciated

New Steam Games with Native Linux Clients, including Tiny Bookshop - 2025-08-13 Edition
A question about proton-ge-custom-bin on the AUR
I noticed that there are no version numbers in the compatibility section of Steam for proton-GE when installed from the AUR.
Is it safe to assume that the one labeled "Proton-GE" will always be whatever version is up on the AUR? (Assuming I keep it up to date)
And if I wanted a different version, I would have to download it from the github repo?

Did something happen?
It seemed like there was a big surge for games that had linux support over the last couple of years and now in this year, most notably BF6 is not coming with linux support. Was there something that caused this about face? I also may just be filling miffed by the BF6 news as I play a very limited set of games and was looking forward to that one

I can't use Lossless Scaling on Linux.
Hello. I installed lossless scaling from github (https://github.com/PancakeTAS/lsfg-vk) and purchased Lossless Scaling on Steam. When I try to test with vkcube, I get this error below. I don't know what else to do. I already asked chatgpt and it was useless. I followed the installation steps on YouTube, but this error always returns. Does anyone know what I can do?
"vkcube
Selected WSI platform: xcb
lsfg-vk: Loaded configuration for vkcube:
Using DLL from: /home/matheus.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Lossless Scaling
Multiplier: 4
Flow Scale: 0.7
Performance Mode: Enabled
HDR Mode: Disabled
lsfg-vk: An error occurred while trying to extract the shaders, exiting:
- Unable to read Lossless.dll, is it installed?"

Help
Im using mint linux.
I cannot get portproton to ever play my games while using my GPU. I tried 3 different steam games.
It uses my GPU on brave (browser) games online perfectly fine Krunker, diepio etc. which usually would lag like hell if it did not use my GPU
1060 6GB, i5 7400, DDR3
I have been dealing with this for too long. I can see my specs with nvidia-smi and DRI_PRIME1= glxinfo | grep "OpenGL renderer" and even with vulkan-tools it shows my GPU aswell.
I don't know what to do at this point.
