Sub-scheduler support coming to Linux and could help games

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Feb 2026 - 8:29pm

It's a bit complicated but the patch description does mention that this could help game engine performances. At least it could probably allow applications like Steam, Lutris, Heroic to start games with sched-ext LAVD (a gaming optimized scheduler) while the rest of the system run with the distro default scheduler, which would already be great.

Searching AMD fine wine benchmark

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Feb 2026 - 6:54pm

Is there a benchmark comparison for Linux that evaluates the performance of an AMD GPU after release* vs recently? For example: a Polaris-based gpu like RX 580 on Ubuntu 18.04/18.10 release compared to Ubuntu 24.04/24.10 recently. The distro is important, but it should be the same distro and same hardware. Bonus points for multiple benchmarks e.g. yearly.

Most benchmarks i found use different hardware (apart from GPU) or do not benchmark old enough AMD GPUs anymore.

The main objective is to have direct comparison of the linux stack in relation to time after hw release.

Problème .exe linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Feb 2026 - 6:43pm

Merci 🙏

Installing mod collections with MO2?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Feb 2026 - 6:26pm

MO2 works great on CachyOS, but is there a way to install mod collections or do you have to install the mods one by one?

Linux for Poker?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Feb 2026 - 6:22pm

Hello guys!

I'm done with Windows, really. I've used Linux for many years, so i know the basics of it, but i don't use for a few years now.

I play poker for a living, and i need GGPoker - which didn't work on Linux back then, even with Wine.

Anyone here knows the situation these days? Is there a way i can play GGPoker on a Mint?

Thank you!

Proton/wine games launch slowly

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Feb 2026 - 4:20pm

This happened in a matter of weeks, my steam/lutris games launch in 40/60 sec instead of usual 2-3 seconds(im not including shader time). (if i try a native game it launches instantly). So i am guessing it has to be wine/proton

I tried everything, enabled logging, uninstalled proton, uninstalled games etc.. Im using proton ge, tried multiple versions ofc and same issue.

The game performance is perfect once its launched. But the slow launch is triggering my ocd.

My system is arch with hyprland, filestem btrfs, 9070xt and 7800x3d.

im wondering if anyone experienced something similar, if you need more information let me know.

Play my demo, give feedback, and get your name added to the game

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Feb 2026 - 3:59pm

Hi everyone! :)

I’m running a small promo: finish the Lootbane Demo on Steam , give feedback, and your name will be added to the game as an elite enemy.

How it works

  • Play the demo and leave feedback (what you liked, what could be improved, bugs, balance, etc.).
  • Submit your name suggestion with your feedback, that name will be randomly used for one of the elite enemies in the next update.

Rules

  • English only.
  • No NSFW or offensive names.
  • No futuristic/sci-fi names (keep them fantasy/medieval vibe).
  • No numbers.
  • Max 10 characters for the name.

Need a bit of guidance!

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Feb 2026 - 3:35pm

I’ve been thinking about switching from Windows to Linux for about a year or two now. I mostly play solo games, and from what I’ve seen, Linux seems awesome for that!

My biggest concern is anti-cheat compatibility, especially kernel-level anti-cheat. That’s the main thing holding me back.

The multiplayer games I currently play are: - League of Legends - Valorant - World of Warcraft and others battlenet titles - Fortnite

From what I understand, some of these use kernel-level anti-cheat systems, and that’s where Linux can become a problem. I’m totally fine tinkering a bit, but I don’t want my multiplayer experience to become a constant headache. Would love to hear from people who were in a similar situation!
