Crimson desert: new update introduced graphical glitch in bottom right corner of screen…
Ever since the latest update in Crimson Desert, while playing the game in Bazzite I started noticing something in the bottom right of my screen, sort of like this weird texture flickering or something. I honestly don’t remember this happening prior to the latest patch, but I’m wondering if I’m the only one that’s experienced this or am I alone here? If I set all of the settings down to low, it goes away, but the second I put everything back to any higher settings it comes right back. I also jumped into windows to see if it would happen there too, but it doesn’t, it seems to be something with Bazzite.
System is:
- Ryzen 7 9700x
- Radeon 9070 XT
- 32gb ram
- 850w PSU
Using GE Proton 34, Steam is the launcher and I have the following launch command in Steam:
VK3D_CONFIG=FS4 PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE=1 %command%
I’ve got a video here showing it happening. If anyone else has seen this and knows how to fix it please let me know.

Hotplugging controllers?
Been having problems with controllers (both switch pro and PS5 controllers), both with and without steam input in rocket league on steam. If i plug in the controller via USB *after* the game launches, the game refuses to see the controller. This also means that if there is a short interruption in which the game forgets the USB device, i have to restart the game (this cost me some matches already). If the controller is plugged in before i click play everything works totally fine. Does anyone have a solution to this? Is this a common problem? I am on cachyos

Crimson Desert won’t work
Laptop:
Intel core ultra 9 series 2
RTX 5070 ti (laptop)
32 gigs ram
CachyOS
Cosmic DE
I’ve tried everything I can think of. All the various protons (ge, experimental, cachyos slr and native, hotfix). And various flags, (wayland, nvgpu, nothing) and I can’t get this game to boot. The farthest I’ve gotten is the screen with the flying blocks and it does that for a while then freezes. I like the music though. Anyone?

Bottles crashes when searching a bottle files
Hi, i'm using CachyOS and whenever I try to open the file manager through Bottles to search for a bottle files, it just shows an empty window and crashes. I appreciate any help, thanks.
One second later after that, it just crashes.
Here's the log:

Horrible performance on games, abt to move back to windows
So I've been trying to play games and i just get horrible performance while people with the same specs dont, im starting to think its a cpu bottleneck, even though it didnt happen when i was on linux, but i have nothing else to grasp on:
OS: CachyOS x86_64
Kernel: Linux 6.19.11-1-cachyos
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 (12) @ 4.47 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Lite Hash Rate [Discrete] drivers: 595.58.03
RAM: 2x16gb ddr4 3600mhz
Tried lutris with latest wine and proton versions, then steam with latest wine and proton experimental, tried overclocking power limit on gpu, tried changing settings, tried reinstalling whole os, still nothing.
I'm just really curious of how even though i do all the steps i still get such horrible performance, while everyone else on protondb.com says its fine and rates the games i play gold, even with people with the same gpu as me.
I've tried cyberpunk 2077, fallout 4, fallout 3&NV (only ones that ran fine) and the witcher 3. I dont even go for high settings or ray tracing, but it still runs horribly.
Last time i gamed on this machine before the problems was around a year or so ago (when i was on windows), so im thinking that my thermal paste may have dried up and is causing the cpu to overheat (temps are at 95º when under load and i dont think thats good), so it lags down to stop it from going over the edge.
Its either that or, my other suspicion, running proton and wine (ESPECIALLY LUKS2 because i have a feeling thats causing lots of drops in performance) adds more stuff the cpu has to do so it just cant.
if anyone can can u just tell me what i can do to make it run better, or just to figure out what is the problem? im genuienly thinking of going back to windows and using a separate machine for linux.

What if Candy Crush had a Gambling Problem?
Play Royal Flush Rush to find out! It is officially in Early Access (v0.9) and LIVE!
Grab it here - https://softsavage.itch.io/royal-flush-rush
I wanted to show this to the itch.io and Linux community, because I’m looking for fellow arcade and card game enthusiasts to help me polish the experience before the v1.0 release and eventual Steam release with leaderboards.
What is Royal Flush Rush? It’s a high-speed hybrid. You aren't just matching symbols, you’re building poker hands.
- The Goal: Match 3 or more to create pairs, straights, and flushes.
- The Catch: The "Rush" bar is constantly depleting. If you stop matching, it is Game Over!
- Built-in hints: No poker knowledge required.
I’ve included a Daily Challenge mode where everyone plays exactly the same seeded board. My personal best for today's seed is 18,139 on Level 5.
Can you beat this developer on Day One? Post a screenshot of your score in the comments below! I'll be keeping an eye on who takes the top spot.
What can you play it on?This build is available for:
- Linux / Windows / macOS (Desktop builds)
- Android (Sideloaded AAB)
I’m a solo developer, and even though the game is fully playable and localised in 7 languages, I want to make sure the difficulty scaling and RNG feels "fair but tough." If you encounter any bugs or have thoughts on the scoring, please let me know.
If you like what you play, consider supporting the project with a donation. Every bit helps me get closer to the Steam launch with global leaderboards!
Get matching! — Soft Savage

Death Stranding 2 on Omarchy
I'm using Omarchy 3.5 (Arch and Wayland) with the following pc specs:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
Graphics card: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
Playing on steam with the following proton configurations:
Proton Experimental
PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1
VKD3D_CONFIG=nodxr
ulimit -n 1048576;
%command%
I'll be honest, these environment variables i just looked up on ProtonDB and by what people said it was a proper configuration for this game.
So, I was playing the game normally for a long time now (19.1 hours at the time of this post) and never had issues. But now, every time use the monorail with tons of packages the system freezes and Hyprland goes into safe mode, that seems like a memory leak but i'm not sure.
Now i really don't know if this is a Proton - Hyprland or whatever issue, or if it is a problem with the game's port to PC, i doubt it because it already has steam deck compatibility.
Any thoughts?

Nvidia woes, crash "Failed to allocate NVKMS memory for GEM object", in Sins of a Solar Empire 2, but only in the menu?
So I get this issue:
drm:nv_drm_gem_alloc_nvkms_memory_ioctl [nvidia_drm]] *ERROR* [nvidia-drm] [GPU ID 0x00002b00] Failed to allocate NVKMS memory for GEM object
That causes the system to crash, or rather, the screen movement and mouse and keyboard control to stop, any playing video and game audio (I often watch youtube at the same time) continues to play, but the system cannot be used otherwise.
This seems to only happen in the Sins of a Solar Empire 2 menus, rather than the the actual game.
System:
Fedora Linux 43 (Workstation Edition) x86_64
Linux 6.19.11-200.fc43.x86_64
AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
32 GB of ram
I did try using X11 over Wayland, but that seems to cause other issues.
I had no issues with the game when I had a single moniter and a older and slower CPU.
This is a classic case it seems of Nvidia issues along with possibly Wayland on top.
i am just puzzled why it seems to only happens in the menus and not in say a big battle with a million things going on at once.
Space Marine 2, Elite: Dangerous and all my other games run fine.
It is also worth noting when the crash happens, it seems to cause a massive CPU temp spike (according to my bios), far beyond what the system normally ever hits even under the heaviest load (I keep an eye on the temps due to my previous system have a dying watercooler so its just a habit), temps are fine when the game is running normally.

Why are my BG3 native mods not loading?
I just set it up like I would've done on windows but it's not working, does someone have a fix? Even though it's just the camera tweaks I feel so uncomfortable playing without that mod

Odd issue with steam
I dual booted my pc with windows 10 and zorin os about a year ago with very small issues here and there. I dual booted it because I have work I do that only works on windows. regardless, I have had an issue pop up recently on my Linux partition. you see, I have three drives, two internal nvme ssds one of which is my main drive with Linux and windows, and the other for the sole purpose of steam game downloads. the third drive is an external ssd which I use to put files shared between windows and Linux. the internal drives are ext4 and the external is nvms.
Recently after doing some work on windows I shut down and started up my Linux partition and wanted to play some ark survival ascended. I've had no issues in the past but this time it kept throwing a disk write error. I'll show all the things I've tried so far to fix it.
updated OS
Updated other games on the same drive (they successfully updated)
successfully updated games on the same drive
updated permissions to the files
verified ASA files
cleared steam cache and download
moved ark to the other internal drive
I removed the app manifest as well and it redownloaded the entire game
every other game downloads, updates, etc. as you'd expect. if I tried to uninstall and reinstall ark it works fine until it has to update again. My drives have over 300gb free space. I'm happy to reinstall it, but the game updates every couple days and it's a big file for my subpar internet service. any advice would be greatly appreciated

[Guide] Native Fan Control on HP Omen 16-wfx0xxx (8BAA) Board– Linux 6.19+ & Zen Kernel Finnaly got the fans working in Linux
Obstacles to migration
I'm running an Alienware 17r1 with an i7-4910mq processor and a GTX1070m dGPU, aftermarket upgrade.
Currently on Windows 11 LTSC and I'm happy enough with it I guess but I would like to switch back to Linux.
On my old laptop I switched to Linux to gain performance because it was showing its age, this rig is performing perfectly fine on Windows Linux is just a preference.
I have two main concerns with migration:
1.) On this laptop I undervolt both CPU and GPU aggressively, I have 1800mhz @ .85v and +500 memory clock in Afterburner, which has gained me substantial thermal benefits and higher more stable FPS. I understand there is no Afterburner for Linux, the equivalent is CLI tools. and the same effect be achieved on Linux with a Pascal GPU, or how is the situation different? without afterburner on Windows I see lower and more variable clocks so for performance I need such tools are kind of required.
2.) How bad is the DirectX 12 translation layer overhead on performance? I understand the older API either benefit from or are at least a wash comparing Windows to Linux.
On Windows I can run cyberpunk at just under a perfect locked 60 FPS using a mixture of settings compromises and FSR. I know that game is steam deck verified so I guess it runs fine on Linux overall but that's with the 30 FPS cap on the tiny screen versus shooting for 60 FPS 1080p 32-in TV.
