New to Linux tips on dual booting multiplayer games with kernel-level anti-cheats
Hi, everyone. I have recently had the urge to switch from Windows to Linux, and I have a friend group that enjoys playing Call of Duty and Fortnite. However, I know Linux doesn't support the anti-cheats used, but I've heard the term "dual-booting," and I was curious what that is, and if that is how I could still play with my friends while still having a mainly Linux-based system. Thanks

Proton FPS dies when I use trackpad on my two Bluetooth Dualsense controllers
Essnetially the title. I'm connecting two Dualsense controllers to a relatively crappy laptop via an extenal USB Bluetooth dongle (UB500 Plus) and whenever I do that my perfectly stable 60FPS in Cuphead dies and could reach ~20s if I use both controllers' trackpads
I'm guessing something in the Wine/Proton (or Steam Input?) is suffocating on the amounnt of data sent from controllers, but this doesn't happen if I connect the them via USB...
What is going on and how can I possibly fix it?

Experiences with the Tuxedo prebuilt Desktop PCs?
I want a new gaming PC, but I have no idea which hardware is good or not, so I was thinking about getting a prebuilt one. I found out that Tuxedo makes prebuilt Desktop PCs that are made with Linux in mind. That would allow me to rest easy knowing all the part will be compatible, and also Tuxedo being based in Germany is great for me, since I'm from Europe as well.
Now my questions are:
- Does anyone have experiences with their desktop PCs (probably the "Atlas S" or "Infinity M" models)? It seems hard to find reviews of their prebuilt desktop PCs. Most posts I see are about their notebooks. Does that mean their desktop PCs are not good? Or is that because of the tendency for Linux users to prefer DIY builds even more so than Windows users?
- How much of a premium would I pay for buying one of their prebuilts compared to theoretically building one myself?
- If the premium I'm paying is massive, then are there are other prebuilt makers that are less of a ripoff (preferably also European)?

X11 vs Wayland on Nvidia
Quick one, anyone know what the go is with NVIDIA and X11 vs Wayland? Plenty of mentions around saying Wayland is better, but what are we talking here? Incompatibilities, FPS differences, glitches or all of the above?

gamescope Stretching the screen
Hello everyone. I’m using Arch Linux with Hyprland.
I wanted to play Outlast on Steam, but the FPS wasn’t very good, so I decided to lower the resolution. I set it to 1280×960 and the FPS became fine. However, when I switch the game to fullscreen, black bars appear. If I don’t use fullscreen, it just stays as a small window. I read about gamescope and tried using something like this: gamescope -w 1440 -h 1080 -W 1920 -H 1080 -f -r 60 -- %command%
The game does stretch to fullscreen, but black borders are still there, and the mouse cursor disappears.
Could someone please help me fix this?

How to completely delete An Anime Game Launcher? (Mint)
I am trying to fully uninstall the game and the launcher, but there doesn't seem to be a way to uninstall the game itself, just the launcher. I am on Mint version 22.2 (and using Cinnamon).

Quick reminder that you can set launch options for Proton PER version
I saw quite frequently while navigating through Proton configuration threads that a lot of people are complaining about having to set the launch options per game, especially for DLSS preset override. (Either for cachyOS proton via PROTON_DLSS_UPGRADE variable or the two others for Proton Hotfix / Experimental).
Just a small reminder that for such options you would like to run for every games, or if you want to dedicate a proton version (for instance the cachy one) for such options, you can create a user_settings.py file in the folder containing the Proton version you want to adjust.
For instance, for Proton Experimental, you should create it (or copy it from user_settings.sample.py located at the same folder) in ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton\ Hotfix
For cachyOS (or any custom Proton versions added via ProtonUp-Qt), it would be ~/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/proton-cachyos-10.0-20260101-slr-x86_64_v3/ for instance.
Then, within it, you can add every launch options you want within the user_settings variable. For instance, to use the latest preset for Nvidia GPUs:
user_settings = { # Use latest Nvidia preset models: "PROTON_DLSS_UPGRADE": "1", # Output preset details "PROTON_DLSS_INDICATOR": "1", }Then, all games using the Proton version you created a user_settings.py file for will use those launch options automatically.
That's all folks.

I think Adrenalin App and Nvidia App need to come to Linux in order to bring more casuals over.
I realize there are alternatives for certain aspects of what these apps do, but having a familiar GUI experience for people who might come over from Windows would be extremely beneficial for keeping those same folks on Linux. The current workarounds are fine, but having access to Radeon Chill, Vsync override, AFMF 2, FSR 4 override, and all the other features in Adrenalin available to folks who try out Linux would be great.
Same goes for the Nvidia App. Familiar toggles for Max Frame Rate, DLSS Preset Overrides, DLDSR, Smooth Motion, etc.
I also realize driver updates are handled differently on Linux. I think you just bring the Apps over to Linux with all the features except driver updates.
I think these apps provide normal people an easy-to-digest experience to tweak their gaming. I really feel strongly those apps would play a big role in helping people feel more comfortable to take the leap into Linux. Giving them an anchor point to feel like it isn't completely different than Windows and like a whole new beast to learn how to do new things.
I know Linux is kind of for the tinkerer, but it's also going to continue to grow for casual gamers as Valve continues to invest in it. I would love to see it grow even more.

Help for a fast wired controller to use with HID API library
Hi there,
Im trying to find a fast controller I can use to control a robot. So far I'm using a very old xbox wired controller (with PS/2 connector) that runs at 120 Hz.
I dont know if newer versions of this controller are faster or not since they dont show that kind of characteristics. I have seen the 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wired Controller which seems to be compatible with my needs but I'm not sure...
Im a total noob at this stuff as you can see and im getting a hard time getting proper information from sellers to choose one so I came here to see if anybody can help me to about this. The only requeriment I have is that I'm using HID API library so it needs to be compatible with it.
My budget is up to 300€ and I'm in spain. I will be using it on linux (ubuntu 24.04)
Thanks in advance!

Trouble with generic controller
Hello, I've been having trouble getting my generic controller to work.
General info:
OS: Arch
WM: Hyprland
Nvidia 2060 (nvidia-open-dkms)
Controller is a generic controller that is registered on the pc as a Xbox360 controller.
I have been trying every driver: xpad, xone, xboxdrv, xpadneo, you name it.
The controller DOES get recognized on plugin, as stated via dmesg.
When using different drivers i do get the instance /dev/input/js0, sometimes also js1.
At the moment of running jstest, i get the testing screen but no output is read.
I remember having solved it before in some schizo way by stopping xpad, and it worked, i even avoided rebooting my pc for it to keep working, until i did. That was while i was still on i3wm.
I have seen some posts that talk about this subject:
They said to execute a python script with xboxdrv, but it's supposed to be implemented in xpad.
It's been either they state that it has already fixed in xpad.

Hello, I need some help with overclocking my GPU.
I've been using Linux for more than 3 years now, and have never really optimized my system, since it can handle almost everything I do (most of the time), but eversince I upgraded my GPU, PSU, and RAM this year: RTX 2070 to RTX 5070TI, 32GB to 64GB RAM, and 750W to 850W PSU, I got curious about it.
However, I'm quite confused about how to OC.
On Microslop Binbows, there is MSI Afterburner that has both the OC and benchmark tool, which can also tell you about how "good" your OC setting is after some benchmark tests by telling you its "confidence" level.
It's pretty much a no-brainer. Just set your desired OC, then run the benchmark. If it fails, lower it a little. If it didn't, increase it.
On Linux, I use LACT.
Not really sure what's a good starting point, so, if you have any tips or have the same card, please do share.
Also, the main reason why I didn't switch to RADEON, even though I really wanted to, was because of the lack of resources about how well an AMD GPU perform on Davinci Resolve (on my search, atleast). I chose an NVIDIA GPU because I already know that it works well with it.
Thanks in advance!

Installing .NET Desktop Runtime for Non-Steam Games
TLDR:
- Add the Game to Steam as a Non-Steam Game and launch it once
- Download the .exe installer for the .net version that the game asks for when failing to start (The error message usually has a link to do this)
- Install Protontricks
- Open the .exe with Protontricks (On KDE Plasma right-click the .exe and open with Protontricks)
- It will ask you for which Proton profile (game) do you want to install it, select the game from step 1.
- The .NET installer should open, follow the installation process like any other Windows software.
- When it finishes the game should launch
Explanation so it can be found by people with the same problem
I've been looking for hours how to do this, everyone seems to just disregard the question online as the app/game usually has the .NET runtime bundled in by default, which is clearly not always the case. I was trying to run PKHeX trough Proton but it would fail with a message asking for the runtime.
I hope this helps someone in a similar situation!
