best linux compatible peripherals
Im looking to replace a few of my peripherals now that im on linux for a bit.
currently im using a razer naga trinity mouse, a logitech g510 and and old wireless xbox 360 controller.
For a mouse and keyboard im thinking about going back to something simple with only some rgb, thought about some corsair stuff, have yet to look though how comatible they are with linux to configure the rgb stuff. dont mind some other suggestions here.
But im not sure about the controller yet, currently have problems with my xbox as the dpad is somehow wrong ingame and im not able to fix it, and as i was about to look for a new one anyway i thought something that has a good compebility with linux would be best.
another thing is, since switching to linux i wasnt able to use all the makro keys from the g510 or the razer naga, but in the long run i would love to have something similar back for gaming with makros and stuff, something like the razer tartarus. is there something like that, also design wise that has a good compability with linux. i know there are many little keypads and stuff but they are not really optimized for gaming, in my opinion.
Can some linux veterans maybe share some suggestions and insight on linux peripherals ?

Gamescope disables HDR support in Doom: TDA
I am on Hyprland, nixos unstable. HDR works fine without gamescope.
I have a bug in Doom where my cursor will, at random moments, leave the game and enter my second screen. Usually to fix this i use gamescope, but now for some reason gamescope doesn't provide HDR support like it usually does.
Here is the command I used: ENABLE_GAMESCOPE_WSI=1 DXVK_HDR=1 gamescope -W 2560 -w 2560 -H 1440 -h 1440 -r 240 -f --hdr-enabled --force-grab-cursor -- %command% +com_skipIntroVideo 1
I am using Proton GE 10-29 and have the env variables PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND and PROTON_ENABLE_HDR, set globally because I am tired of doing it manually.
When entering the game using gamescope I also only have a single screen named default to chose from, which it doesn't think supports HDR even though it should.

Why does my Vial keyboard freeze in Ubuntu?
I bought a Cheapino v2 and used it on Windows 11 without any problems.
I've started using Ubuntu again, and my keyboard freezes whenever I leave it alone for a few minutes.
I've already done some basic configurations as suggested by GPT (qmk-rules), but I'm still having these problems.
Has anyone else had this problem? My friends who have custom keyboards and use Unix said they don't have these problems.

Gaming on Linux
My experience with gaming on Linux has been a bit challenging, but I believe it’s worth it. My first attempt was with Pop!_OS, which was game-ready and provided improved graphics performance on my Intel UHD 620 laptop. However, when I switched to Zorin OS, I encountered problems. It took several updates before I was able to fix a DirectX crash issue on Steam.

Theophany is a desktop client for managing and launching game collections on Linux.
Hey everyone, I've been a Linux user for over 20 years and I really wanted to start giving back to the open-source community I love.
This is why I'm developing Theophany. It's a desktop app which started as an idea for a modern way to manage your giant emulation ROM collections, but it's grown into a bit more. The idea is a familiar one, but we need one of our own.
Currently I encourage everyone to give the initial release a try and let me know what you think. This is an alpha release so expect some hiccups, but it's very functional.
I'm really interesting in your feature requests, and of course bug reports.
A quick list of features
- Support for all your ROMs and emulators. Add games to the collection, setup the emulator profile. Link them together and start playing.
- Rich metadata support with IGDB integration. Easily pull high quality artwork and metadata for your collections.
- RetroAchievements integration. Track your progress within the library, and see a dashboard of your recent games. Also a great source of metadata and artwork.
- Search and play game trailers, reviews, and more with yt-dlp integration.
- Built-in Flatpak games store. Easily install and integrate into your collection.
- Import your installed Steam, Heroic, and Lutrs games into Theophany. Support for pulling in your full libraries coming soon..
- Add Windows games to the library with umu integration.
- Fast and small, written in Rust and QML

Distro for an old gaming PC for a young kid
Right now my kid and I mostly play Minecraft Bedrock coop using the Linux Bedrock Launcher on my gaming PC (Ubuntu) and his ancient laptop (popOS), which runs it very poorly, often sub 30fps.
I'm getting back my old gaming PC for him:
- i5-4670k
- DDR3 8 or 16gb (can't remember)
- 256gb sata SSD
- AMD Rx580 GPU (8gb)
We might also play some Rocket League, maybe some indie 2D games like Unrailed.
Which distro should I go with? Is anything specifically better for older PCs? Don't really wanna tinker too much with the OS. Thanks!

[CROSSPOST] Not able to boot Windows using ujust setup-boot-windows-steam -> "Selected boot device is disabled in BIOS setup"
Valheim using Proton and when using a bow it won't let me draw the bow. It just automatically loose the arrow.
I've been problem-solving this problem for a couple of days now. It's not my mouse as my left click works just fine in other games. I even switched my mouse out to see if it was the cause of this problem.
When I pull back on my bow to aim and shoot there is a constant pull until I loose the arrow normally. What started to happen this week is that I pull out my bow and pull back by holding down the left click on my mouse and the game just automatically shoot the arrow. This means I can't hit anything with a bow and arrow.
If I switch the compatibility over to Steam Linux Runtime 1.0 (scout) I can now draw back on my bow but it refuses to read my mouse run button. I try to run and my character just stops. I run just fine with this button on Proton but I cannot shoot a bow.
I would prefer to run Valheim on Proton as this is how I have my mods set up for. Any ideas on how to fix this?
I'm running Linux Mint.
