I am looking for a new game, but I don't know where to start.

I like "bear and breakfast", Stardew Valley, Crying Suns, Tunic, Death Door, Monster Sanctuary, Hollow Knight.

Cheers.

GTA 5 epic games fix(only for offline)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 06. Januar 2025 - 02:26

I've asked this question before on SteamDeck subreddit, and the noob admins got it down. After long long searches I just found it, it was extremely hard to find it.

So the fix is under this topic:
https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/1awzm24/gta_v_error_134_heroic/

BloeckchenDev thanks for the fix, quoting him:

This is the newest fix.bat file, at the start of the topic just apply what he said but only the fix.bat must be this:
start /B "null" "C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\Launcher\LauncherPatcher.exe"
ping -n 20 localhost > nul
GTA5_BE.exe %* -useEpic -fromRGL

Then just run the heroic as usual. Launch the GTA5.

I Got fully modded Skyrim (SE) running on Linux!

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 06. Januar 2025 - 00:02

https://preview.redd.it/of3aamgi89be1.png?width=1920&format=png&auto=webp&s=eb423d20a31ab4643d92f3e87605e2a61a42ec6f

Ok, i'm honest i cheated a bit here, because i did all the actual modding work on Windows, like running Bethini, Dyndolod, Bodyslide, Pandora and Parallaxgen etc. What i then did was copying all folders from mo2 to linux, and using this the mo2 install script to install mo2. Also installing c++ libraries 2015-2022 was necessary but luckily this user explained how i got it installed. Then i just copied my profile to the linux mo2 started the game with mo2 and evoila, a fully working game with rather the same performance as on windows! it was also very surprising to me that enb worked out of the box. you dont even need to activate the LinuxVersion thingy in the enblocal.ini.

PS:
I actually didnt try yet if you could run all skyrim modding tools (other than loot) on Linux, so dont rule that out. And if you have any questions regarding this feel free to ask!

Help: Game Crashing on Launch After Update [Ubuntu 22.04, Steam Proton]

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 05. Januar 2025 - 23:44

Hi everyone, I’m having trouble with the game title on Linux after its latest update. Previously, it worked flawlessly with Proton, but now it crashes immediately on launch.

Here’s my setup:

  • Distro: Ubuntu 22.04
  • Kernel: 5.15.0
  • GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1660 (Driver: 525.78)
  • Proton Version: Proton Experimental (also tested with 7.0-5 and 6.3)

Has anyone experienced something similar with Proton or Vulkan errors after a game update? Any tips on debugging this further or possible fixes?

Trouble Running GameTitle After Latest Update on Linux [Ubuntu 22.04, Proton 8.0]

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 05. Januar 2025 - 23:42

Hey everyone, I’m facing an issue with GameTitle on Linux after the most recent update. It was running perfectly before, but now it fails to launch. Here’s my setup and what I’ve tried so far:

System Details:
  • Distro: Ubuntu 22.04
  • Kernel: 6.2.10
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060
  • Driver: NVIDIA 535.54.03
  • Proton Version: Tried 8.0, 7.0-5, and Experimental

Other games using Vulkan and Proton work without issues, so I’m stumped. Could this be related to the game update itself or some compatibility issue? Has anyone else faced something similar?

Helldivers crash on ubuntu 22.04

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 05. Januar 2025 - 21:57

Distro: Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS
Gnome version: 42.9
Window manager: x11
CPU:AMD Ryzen 7 5800h
GPU:GeForce RTX 3060 Mobile / Max-Q
So, as said in the title, The game crashes when i try to run it, the anticheat window pops up with no problem, then the game window open for a few seconds all black and then closes, i don't think my GPU would be the problem.
Also if i change to wayland the game does run, but it runs very poorly, and also refuses to detect my GPU, i kinda got a workaround for that changing the render_backend in the config file, but it still runs poorly, and yeah, I tried running it with dx11. Any help would be Nice
Also i opened steam console and these are the logs for it (shell output and steam console output).
Shell: https://pastebin.com/5ktAL7jW
Steam Console: https://pastebin.com/dqHu1Us2

World of Warcraft bug with MMO Mouse

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 05. Januar 2025 - 20:49

Good afternoon! I've recently swapped over to Linux Ubuntu version 24.04.1 LTS as my daily driver. I've always loved Linux, and and the years have gone on, there's been more support for gaming thanks to the help of others.

What is odd to me is that World of Warcraft overall runs 10,000 times better on Linux opposed to Windows. I went from getting 70-100 fps to getting CONSISTENT 144 fps (capped due to my monitor being at 144hz)

However, I have run into a MAJOR problem... I have a Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse which I use while I am playing any MMO games such as World of Warcraft.

The issue is that while in game, if I press ANY of the mouses side buttons (Which range from "g9" to "g20"), it causes the game to temporarily freeze, the input is sent successfully to the game and does trigger the appropriate response. But the question is, why is it causing a temporary stall in the gameplay?

I have researched a few different solutions and found that you can not use the Logitech GHub software on Linux, but a workaround was found by using "Piper" which has allowed me to re-map the buttons on the side of the mouse to anything I want them to be.

I re-mapped them to be F1 through F12 which DID work for all of 12 hours, causing NO stuttering issues at all. I shut down the computer at the end of the day and came back today to find that the same stuttering experience has come back from the dead.

I've tried to repeat the same steps originally mentioned above, and I am still having the same stuttering issue in World of Warcraft.

Anyone have any idea's as to how to fix this issue or have any resources that may point me in the right direction? I've been a major fan of Linux for many years, but never was able to use it as a daily driver until recently and really do not want to switch back to Windows.

I also forgot to mention I am running with a AMD Ryzen 9 7900X processor paired with a Gigabyte Radeon RX 7600 XT 16GB and 32gb DDR5 Ram.

Cheers! <3

CS2/Gnome crashing, no logs to be found..

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 05. Januar 2025 - 19:47

I built a new computer last week, put Fedora on there. The last week, all has been well. For reference, the system details from Gnome settings:

# System Details Report # Report details * **Date generated:** 2025-01-05 19:26:26 # Hardware Information: * **Hardware Model:** Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. B650M AORUS ELITE AX ICE * **Memory:** 32.0 GiB * **Processor:** AMD Ryzen™ 7 9800X3D × 16 * **Graphics:** AMD Radeon™ RX 7900 XTX * **Disk Capacity:** 2.0 TB # Software Information: * **Firmware Version:** F31 * **OS Name:** Fedora Linux 41 (Workstation Edition) * **OS Build:** (null) * **OS Type:** 64-bit * **GNOME Version:** 47 * **Windowing System:** Wayland * **Kernel Version:** Linux 6.12.7-200.fc41.x86\_64

I downloaded and played CS2 today, which crashed during two competitive matches. It froze my screen first, then after a few seconds, booted me back to GDM. The Counter-Strike sounds were still there, not sure what was going on. To recover I hit the hardware reset button and quickly booted up CS again because obviously I can't discard a competitive match. It hasn't (yet?) crashed in a non-competitive match.

I wanted to use journalctl to figure out what was going on. Sadly, it doesn't show anything interesting from the time of the crash. The last log lines are, for the user and root respectively:

What Distribution Do You Recommend for Playing Games?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 05. Januar 2025 - 19:42

Hello, what distribution do you recommend for playing games (Steam, sometimes Lutris)?

I have a dell laptop, i5 processor and ONLY integrated graphics. I know it's not super efficient hardware, but I would like a distribution that will extract as much power as possible for games.

I read that Cachy, Nobara and Pop! are the best distributions for games, but I don't know what happens if you don't have an additional graphics card (nvidia, amd).

I would also like to use such a distribution for older computers so that children can play Minecraft, Roblox and others. Windows definitely throttles the power of older hardware too much.

Help with 'The Finals' and input delay/lag?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 05. Januar 2025 - 19:15

So if you play the game, you are probably already aware from the community that Embark is terrible at optimizing their game (not to mention terrible at a few other things), but so far The Finals is the ONLY game that has given me any trouble when I switched from Windows 10 Pro to Arch about a month ago.

The biggest issue for me isn't getting the game running, but the mouse movement / looking, ESPECIALLY when getting into a fight. On Windows? As smooth as you'd hope for. No issues tracking enemies in ADS and landing shots, but with Arch (at least with my setup), there is this rough input delay kind of feeling that makes it way more difficult to actually aim, and fps suffers a sharp drop in combat. And a friend of mine that also plays decided to try Arch on his brand new gaming PC we built together for him, and even though he uses controller, he feels that same weird input that sucks.

My specs:

  • GPU: RTX 3080
  • CPU: Intel i7 12700k
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR4
  • Storage: 2TB Samsung 980 Pro NVMe + 4TB HDD (for storage that doesn't need speed)

I've done a LOT of messing around with graphics settings and mouse sensitivity to no end.

Other details:

  • Using the latest nvidia-open driver (565)
  • Flatpak Steam
  • Latest KDE Plasma (Wayland)

So, if you guys have any advice for me, I'd love to hear it. This is the main competitive game I've been playing with friends recently, and it sucks to not be able to play it like I would normally. If you would like any other details, go ahead and ask. (And if you are about to suggest I ask on the Finals subreddit, well... they told me to not use linux... so yeah.)

Advice for optimizing 'The Finals'? Input is not smooth
