Whats the best way to run Tf2?
Using Kubuntu
It runs surprisingly bad and crashes constantly. With ut being native on linux I expected it to run better like it did few years ago.
Anyways whats the best way to run it? Is it just a proton layer?

Battle.net on Linux Mint 22.1
Hey!
Past few days I’ve been trying to install Battle.net on Linux Mint to play World of Warcraft.
Got a problem with Lutris. Installed the launcher normally used Proton 9.0 on Wine’s setting on Lutris. Got it running and working, installed World of Warcraft. But after restarting the computer, when I open Lutris it says ”MISSING” on the Battle.net Launcher and it does not start.
What could be the issue?

Helldiver's 2 gotten way more unstable?
Due to secure boot for BF6 (dual boot w windows) I had to start using my 6.14 kernel instead of 6.15 because I couldn't get 6.15 or 6.16 to be signed using mainline kernels. not sure if that is the issue but now I crash essentially once every single mission. Just an instant close to desktop in middle of gameplay. Before, every once In a while after a mission I would lose network connection due to anti cheat, and a very rare occasional crash. However it's so much worse now. Is anyone else experiencing the same or is it perhaps due to using my older kernel? 9800x3d+9070xt. I tried proton experimental which I was using before as well as going back to steam default.

set up Ubuntu again, now Steam doesn't let me add an additional drive
So, I do not recall doing anything out of the ordinary for my fresh installation, but Steam cannot access the list of mounted drives as it could before (I did the same setup (well I guess not quite the same) on this machine a week ago) Now when I want to add a new Drive all I get is this - manually selecting the mount location doesn't result in anything either, it just fails.
Anyhow, the same Issue persists in other apps like Ultimaker Cura or Itch.io
anyone have a clue on how to resolve this?

Ps5 Dualsense Controllers Burning out
Have you guys noticed dualsense controllers burning out when used with Linux while wired? I'm not sure if it behaves the same in Windows, but the Dualsense seems to stay ON whenever it's plugged in to a Linux PC. I've had 2 controllers die while used exclusively with my PC whereas the ones used for the PS5 are still going strong.

Make Counter strike 2 run great again (I solved)
Recently, I god some problems running cs2 on Linux with my setup. Each update makes me feel more apprehensive about the performance because it floats between a total fix and improvement to "lets fucking nuke your game stability". I did not have any other resource left and I read something about enable "Resizable bar" on bios interface. Well, I tried and it real fix it, my fps rise from 120 on average to almost 300 on average. It literally does not fucking matter if you use it on Wayland or xWayland its almost same fps.
NOTE: It could not work with your setup but it truly works for me
NOTE2: since my MOBO is a steel legends I could follow this tutorial here
NOTE3: I do not know the drawbacks behind it, I just did, test it and it works.

Performance issues with Minecraft, I tried so many things already.
Hello! So I'm playing Minecraft on Garuda Linux KDE lite with the Prominince 2 modpack Fabric and I run it with shaders, which is quite heavy, but I have Ryzen 7 5800x, RX 6900XT and 32 gigs of ram, I'm using the prism launcher. My issue looks like this - My fps can be smooth 150-200 as it run okay on one session, but usually I play, it's not smooth and then fps drops to 30-80, until I get out of fullscreen, then it can happen again not in fullscreen. Same thing happens without shaders. I tried installing different javas like GraalVM, Adaptium and such with different versions (17,21) and it didn't help, I disabled the compositor but that also didn't help, I tried running the prism launcher with gamescope but that just breaks my game completely, I really don't know what to do about this. Did anyone have similar issues?

Problems with minecraft, general render issues
For some reason minecraft has issues rendering shaders. Sometimes there are also crashes with certain mods like rubidium.
Shaders: Bliss by X0nk

Video Input Lag with Auto Bitrate on NVIDIA GPU (GTX 1060) in Linux
Mitigating Steam's Web Helper RAM usage?
I'm on an 8gb RAM laptop with a ryzen 5 3500U, running Fedora 42, only around 6gb of RAM are usable tho because there is no way to reduce the 2gb of assigned video memory on the bios for this model (thx hp and amd). This is also not upgradeable because of how the laptop is made. This leaves me on a very tight ram budget on an otherwise extremely functional computer.
I've been trying to play Age of Empires 2 DE with my friends but even tho the game runs absolutely great on proton (stable 60fps on low settings), there comes a point after some time on most games during which my system goes out of memory and it just freezes.
I've already changed my desktop to i3wm to minimize ram usage, and I don't run anything else in the background aside from the game and steam itself. But the steam web helper services are always hogging AT LEAST 800mb of ram (some times it goes up to 2gb!!!) and it makes this particular game literally unplayable.
Is there any hope here? Any way to mitigate the problem? I already buy a lot of games on GOG just because I hate having to keep a client open to run my games, but some games like AoE 2 DE are not on GOG (even tho it's a classic retro game). Hell I'll be happy to be able to only play the singleplayer campaigns at this point.

Questions regarding dual boot with external drive
Hi there,
I'm currently using an Asus Rog X13 Convertible with XG Mobile (AMD CPU, dGPU: GTX 1650 Mobile, eGPU: RTX 3080 Mobile). Right now, I have both Win10 and CachyOS on the built-in nvme. The latter being my daily driver, the first one exclusively for playing Fortnite.
I'm planning to buy a new desktop gaming machine, thinking AMD 7 9800X3D with RX 7900 XTX or RX 9070 XT. I'd love to go with CachyOS exclusively. I'd be keeping the X13 for uni stuff and playing when on the road (almost every other weekend).
I have a WD P50 nvme ssd (500 GB) laying around and was wondering if it would be possible to use that to install Windows & Fortnite and use it on both machines. (Thus kicking the dualboot from my X13; I could use the space).
So here are my questions:
Is that a possible & stable build, since the machines would need different GPU drivers? Alternatively, is it viable to seperate the WD into 3 partitions (one Win per machine; shared Fortnite)?
Is Atlas OS still recommended? I'd like to keep the apparently inevitable Win11 installation to a minimum
Or would you recommend buying a handheld instead of the new desktop for my situation?

Low fps and low GPU usage in God of War
I downloaded God of War and found unexpected problems with fps. I changed the graphics settings to the minimum, but the fps remained the same. At the same time, the video card is used only halfway. This is the first time I encounter such problems. I've played in Cyberpunk, 3 parts of the Mafia and everything worked without problems.
System information:
- OS: Arch Linux (6.16.3-arch1-1) with Wayland (Hyprland 0.50.1)
- RAM: 32GB
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti
- GPU Driver: nvidia 580.76.05-6
- CPU: Intel Core i5-13400F
- Storage: 1TB M2 SSD
What i've tried: - add "split_lock_detect=off" to the GRUB file - Proton Experimental and Proton Hotfix - adding PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 - adding __GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE_SKIP_CLEANUP=1 __GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE_PATH="$HOME/.nv/GLCache"
