FPS drops to 20 and CPU spikes to 80-90% on all Steam games Artix Linux, Ryzen 5 3600, GTX 1660
Hey, I'm having a performance issue with all Steam games on Artix Linux (OpenRC, Cinnamon DE). The problem is that every Steam game drops to around 20 FPS with CPU usage hitting 80-90%. The GPU is actually being used (saw ~32% utilization in nvidia-smi) so it doesn't seem to be a Optimus/prime issue. ive already tried setting CPU governor to performance Blacklisted noveau (it wasn't even loaded anyway), closed backround apps, checked ram (plenty available) and secure boot is disabled. I'm new to this so i don't know what to do any help is appreciated

Project Synux — Open source Synapse alternative for Linux, built on OpenRazer
Hey everyone,
I got tired of not having a decent RGB manager for my Razer keyboard on Linux, so I built one.
Synux is a free, open source GTK4 app that gives you Synapse-like control over your Razer devices — without needing Windows.
What it does:
- Layer-based lighting (stack effects like Synapse)
- Per-key RGB compositing via software rendering
- Real-time animated keyboard preview
- Built-in themes (Neon Nights, Lava, Ocean, Aurora, Starfield and more)
- Export / Import .synux theme files to share with the community
- Dark and light mode with 3 UI color themes
- Auto-detects when devices are connected or disconnected
- Remembers your last setup on launch
Built on: OpenRazer + Python + GTK4
Tested on: Razer Huntsman Tournament Edition (RZ03-0308) on Zorin OS 18
It's early development — rough edges exist, more device support is coming. Mouse support is next.
GitHub: https://github.com/BryantSteven/synux
Feedback, bug reports, and PRs are very welcome. If you test it on a different device, let me know how it goes — every report helps.

Doom 2016 Crashing
I’m playing Doom 2016, I have a 5080, 9800X3D, and 32GB of ram. I’m on the mission “Vega Central Processing” The game has always ran perfect, until this mission. For some reason, the game crashes a few secs or minutes into the mission, and it never tells me why or shows crash logs. I play it mainly on Fedora Linux, but it also crashed on Windows. How can I figure out why. has anyone experienced this?

GTA SA Fatal Performance
Hi, yesterday I installed Fedora on my Surface Laptop 2 and installed the Surface kernel specific to these computers that is on GitHub. Apparently, everything is fine, the touch screen works and everything else. The problem I'm having is with this specific game, GTA SA and SA-MP. As you can see in the image, the iGPU isn't being used at 100%, and the FPS is very low compared to Windows, where I recall this It was running much better, maybe at 60 FPS or more. I'm using bottles. Does anyone have any idea how to fix it?

How to move a game from Faugus Launcher to play on steam?
Hi, I don't really know what I'm doing, but I've spent way too many hours today trying to get Battlefront II to work on my Linux Mint laptop. I bought it in a charity shop and got it on my ea account. I couldn't get the ea app to work through anything other than Faugus Launcher (tried Lutris and Steam), and eventually got the game running through that. The problem is that the game and the ea app run incredibly slowly, so I wanted to play the game through steam since it is now downloaded. When I put the path to the .exe file into steam, it will just briefly load but not open when I press play, doesn't even give me an error message. I'm not sure how to do this, if I just need to move the files out of the faugus folder and somewhere else, or if it's not possible to run it. I'd appreciate any help you can give me!
I have Linux Mint Cinnamon, and I'm not really sure what other specs might be relevant but I'm happy to provide anything!

TLOU2 20fps at very low & very high
For some reason, I'm getting the same 20 fps with any settings.
GPU & CPU utilization stays low, with absolutely flat frametime.
Any ideas?
Other games work great out of the box. RDR2, Jedi Survivor, TLOU1...

CS2 doesn't work for me on CachyOS
Well, CS 2 isn't working for me on CachyOS for some reason. The logs say there's an error in pipes.cpp (900), I don't know what that is. I used Proton 9.0, Experimental, and the native version of Runtime Sniper. Has anyone else encountered the same problem?

Snapdragon-gsr should be integrated in newer Proton and gaming-wine releases
The people who used lossless scaling in windows may know it already, it's a temporal upscaler, similar to FSR 1, it doesn't need to be game integrated and it works everywhere no matter your hardware and gpu even on older games, it's also open source : https://github.com/SnapdragonGameStudios/snapdragon-gsr
The great thing about it is the amazing performances, i couldn't try it in linux but on windows it's faster then FSR, and the sharpening is better IMO, it works super well on low Vram laptops, and you lose barely no framerate.
I really hope that some dev may have the ability to integrate it in the next proton ge or gaming wine version, it would be an amazing addition to our actual tools, and having an alternative to FSR1 is a good thing for all of us.

I can't play Wuthering Waves since 3.2 update
The game does not let me play since the 3.2 update. When I launch the game through Steam it looks like it's starting normally and then after a bit in the updating screen it shows the error on the photo.
I am running Nobara Linux 43, Ihave these launch options in Steam : SteamOS=1 STEAMDECK=1 %command%
I have tried Proton-GE Latest, Proton-GE 10-32, Proton-CachyOS Latest and Proton Experimental (Proton-GE Latest, Proton-GE 10-32 and Proton-CachyOS Latest were installed with ProtonPlus)
The game is installed on my secondary SSD, and other games on this SSD work perfectly fine.
I have tried what people say on ProtonDB, but i still have this issue.
I hope someone is able to help me, because i really don't want to go back to Windows.

Elden Ring poor performance on CachyOS
Hello, I switched from windows not that long ago so im practically new to linux in general. I tried running Elden Ring and the fps wont go above 45fps, it fluctuates between 35 and 45, any help?
I already tried to update, tried proton 9, proton ge, proton experimental and proton cachyos, set CoreCtrl to high performance and 3d performance, tried running it with "gamemode", but as seen it says "OFF" in mangohud, changing resolution and graphics gets me the same fps
im out of ideas

mouse G502 -- don't reflect the chantges in piper or ratbagctl
Hi people, when i press the g9 button in g502 (now is resolution cycle) the dpi changes correctly (i can see it via the led bards on my mouse). However, ratbagct and piper always shows the default saved value (1200dpi) regardless of which slot is currently active
ratbagctl warbling-mara dpi get → always returns 1200dpi ratbagctl warbling-mara resolution active get → always returns 1Setup: CachyOS Linux, Wayland (niri compositor), libratbag/ratbagctl

Trouble with FFXIV
So I made the jump to Linux about 2 months ago and I've been playing FFXIV without any issues since I initially got it set up but about two weeks ago I started having some issues after running updates. The game started crashing while I was in the middle of raid night so even though I'm pretty anti AI I fed the logs into Gemini to try and get a quick fix so that I wouldn't hold up my team and it told me to turn off DXVK Async because the new Nvidia driver now does whatever it was doing internally? This did stop the crashing issue, but I've been getting really bad stuttering ever since.
The other night we were playing and my screen would freeze completely for 5-6 seconds at a time. At first I thought it was lag, but my partner was playing Warframe downstairs with no issues at all, and other tests on my connection seemed to come up completely fine. So today I tried to do some digging around to find out what the Async thing even is and if turning that off is the culprit but while I'm a little techy, I really don't follow stuff about graphics drivers beyond keeping my system up to date so I don't understand what this Async thing is or what it does really and I'm not able to find anything that would corroborate the reasons Gemini gave me to turn it off. I've also noticed that ever since I ran the updates INACT stopped working, my log files are completely empty and I can't seem to get it working again.
In the two months I've been on Linux I've had a few other apps break after updates and so I've had to use a --rebuild flag a few times to get dependencies to sync back up and I'm wondering if I need to do something like that? But I'm not sure how that works for a game like FFXIV that's running through Wine. Any help fixing these issues would be greatly appreciated.

Zenless Zone Zero stuttering even tho performance (fps) is good
Tried running it on Bazzite, Nobara and now Cachyos
The game boots normally and it sees to run fine. Until you are freeroaming or in a battle
I get freeze screen for 1-2 seconds
It feels like, when a games shaders are not downloaded all the way and the game stutters.
I play this game for 2 years now on windows on the same hardware and never had issues.
I used the latest Proton layer and even tried launching the game from Steam.
I use a Nvidia 3070 (I know Nvidia is not recommended but I didnt find any issues online regarding my problem)
I don‘t know where to look or what else to try, besides some new/old hardware replacements
