[HELP] Bazzite installed system has no display output — Fedora boots fine on same hardware

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24. Februar 2026 - 03:44

Been troubleshooting this for days, so any help is genuinely appreciated. (for additional context, I’m no Linux pro and have heavily relied on AI to troubleshoot this far. It’s a double edged sword, I know)

I picked up a heavily abused ASUS TUF A16 and I’m trying to give it new life as a custom HTPC build running outside its original chassis — no internal display, keyboard, trackpad, or battery connected, just the motherboard (Ryzen 7 7735HS + RX 7600S) powered through the original barrel jack.

The problem: Bazzite’s live ISO boots flawlessly with full display output, but after installing, I get absolutely nothing — no signal on HDMI or USB-C on first boot or any subsequent boot.

What I’ve tried:

∙ Multiple kernel parameters in ostree-1.conf (video=eDP-1:d, amdgpu.dc=1, nomodeset)

∙ Both laptop and desktop/HTPC Bazzite ISOs

∙ Two different monitors via HDMI, plus USB-C to HDMI

∙ SSH via onboard ethernet and a USB ethernet adapter — no connection on installed system either

What I’ve ruled out: I installed Fedora 43 on the same drive and it boots and displays perfectly with no special kernel parameters whatsoever. The amdgpu driver loads correctly, Wayland works, no issues at all. I also confirmed via Fedora that display output is running through the discrete RX 7600S (HDMI-A-1), not the iGPU — so both Fedora and Bazzite should theoretically be using the same GPU for output.

This points to something specific in how Bazzite initializes the GPU or display manager rather than a kernel version or hardware issue.

My question: Is there a known difference in how Bazzite handles GPU or display manager initialization compared to stock Fedora that could cause this? Could something in Bazzite’s ostree deployment or Steam Gaming Mode initialization be the culprit when there’s no internal display detected? Any way to debug or force display output from outside via the live ISO?

Worth noting: I also haven’t been able to get into the BIOS through normal methods.

Are we actually moving towards Linux as the first choice for gamers in future?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24. Februar 2026 - 02:53

Well, the speed at which the platforms such as Proton, Lutris, Steam OS, Zen based kernels etc. have grown in the past few years, do you believe that Linux is going to be the first choice of gamers in the future, maybe in upcoming 5 years?

Any hopes for surpassing Windows purely for gaming in future?

I am not considering productivity apps such as microslop suite etc, but in gaming world is it possible to actually replace windows in upcoming 5 years down the line?

Steam Deck remote play from Fedora KDE client results in black screen.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24. Februar 2026 - 01:55

Hello all,

Have a steam deck that I used to stream utilizing steam remote play on a variety of games from a PC running Fedora with Gnome. Got a new monitor and wanted HDR enabled so did a fresh install of Fedora 43, with KDE 6.6 (wayland).

Getting frustrated as the easy experience of steam remote play doesn't work with most more demanding games that I would actually want to stream rather than install locally on the steam deck. Most games are giving an instant "bad connection" symbol on the steam deck or a black screen (even after accepting remote client on host). On top of it, I am able to control the game on the host PC display using the steam deck as a controller but nothing displays to the steam deck. Some examples below, these all launch on the host PC perfectly fine;

  • Doom Dark Ages
  • Baldur's Gate 3
  • Phantasy Star Online 2: NGS

The list goes on and on. Tried to do Moonlight/Sunshine and while these worked, I find the lack of the steam deck controls/profiles very frustrating (maybe I missed something to set these up?) I've messed around with all of the hardware encoding/decoding options on host and client for remote play and just cannot get a solution.

Host PC specs/info if it helps;

Operating System: Fedora Linux 43

KDE Plasma Version: 6.6.0

KDE Frameworks Version: 6.23.0

Qt Version: 6.10.1

Kernel Version: 6.18.12-200.fc43.x86_64 (64-bit)

Graphics Platform: Wayland

Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core Processor

Memory: 32 GiB of RAM (30.5 GiB usable) - DDR5

Graphics Processor 1: AMD Radeon RX 9070

Graphics Processor 2: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core Processor

Is Faugus Launcher broken?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24. Februar 2026 - 01:53

Just checking to see if anyone else is experiencing issues with Faugus. It was fine a few days ago, but now my EA App is corrupted? At the very least it does not open no matter how many times I tell it to. And to think I almost finished installing BF6..

I cant see the most recent files downloaded onto my PC?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24. Februar 2026 - 01:46

Please help me oh my god I'm losing my marbles (I'm also on Linux Mint if that's of any help)

Alright so basically, I got a game from online, but it's not a steam game so I had to add it as a non steam game.

It required a setup. That's ok, it went through perfectly fine. But the game downloads, and it runs perfectly fine, but I realize I accidentally made the setup the steam game and never directed where the actual game would go, and In the process had probably downloaded the actual game several times (I am not smart.)

But now I want to both delete these copies and also properly link the game to steam, but no matter what I do I can't find the downloaded games?? The setups still on my PC but every time I launch it it just asks me to download the game again EXCEPT I KNOW THE GAMES ARE ON MY PC BECAUSE THE STORAGE IS GETTING SMALLER EVERY TIME I IT ASKS

WHERE ARE THEY GOING? Its not steam, cause I haven't put them in yet, and it's not in the game section either. Wtf?

Oh, also I forgot to mention, I did get another game from the same source that did work, with some standard tinkering, but it also Didint have a setup, it launched directly. But I also can't find where it actually downloaded to, so now I'm vexed.

Step By Step for Bloodborne

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24. Februar 2026 - 00:59

Hello all,

I am a complete newbie to linux (on CachyOS) and wanted to know if anyone had a current step by step guide on how to install Bloodborne on Linux?

A lot of the instructions are older and links are all dead and then seem to be predominantly Windows installs as well, for obvious reasons.

I have the game & the emulator, but I am not sure how to extract the PKG in Linux. The instructions I have seen recommends using BB Launcher but I am not sure how to install that either. I'm pretty lost to any help would be appreciated.

(CachyOS) How to disable mouse horizontal scrolling for specific games?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24. Februar 2026 - 00:51

Basically I keep accidentally horizontally scrolling on my logitech g903 while playing counter strike 2, which switched my weapon and screws me up. I'd like to disable horizontal scrolling only for cs2 and still be able to use it system wide in other applications on cachyos. any help is appreciated?

Battlefront 2 Not Working on Linux Bazzite

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 24. Februar 2026 - 00:43

For some reason I can download BF2 on my Bazzite OS PC, and get it to the Steam launch screen, but it won't actually launch the game--it just aborts launch immediately. BF1 launches and runs fine, but BF2 won't. Anyone have any idea why?

Hi, I’m experiencing mouse stutter in all games on Linux.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 23. Februar 2026 - 23:46
  • FPS is stable and high.
  • When moving the camera with the mouse, it feels like micro-stutters or small frame skips.
  • Outside of games, the mouse works perfectly.
  • Happens in multiple games.
  • Tested on KDE and GNOME.
  • Tested both Wayland and Xorg.
  • Updated drivers and kernel.

The issue persists in every setup.

It does not seem performance-related, but more like an input/cursor sync issue.

Has anyone experienced this and found a reliable fix?

Timber Life - Cozy Farming Game - Is there interest in Linux support?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 23. Februar 2026 - 23:41

Hi,

I'm the solo developer of Timber Life, an upcoming farming life sim where you manage the entire forest. The decisions you make impact the biodiversity of the entire game world, so be sure to take care of the forest!

This is my first game and I've received a little interest in having support for a Linux version. Before I invest my limited time and resources into making one, I'd love to know if there is more interest (as well as anyone willing to test it out on a Linux based machine).

So I guess my real question is, whether the game is something you would be interested in playing and/or testing?

Here's the steam page for more information about the game itself: Timber Life

Getting lower CPU temps with Proton GE

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 23. Februar 2026 - 23:12

I’m only asking because I haven’t seen this anywhere else, nothing seems to claims this. I’ve been running Proton Cachy on Cachyos. In Monster Hunter Wilds I was hitting 80-85c. After a couple crashes in the game I switch to Proton GE now my CPU is running mid-High 70’s never breaking 80. It then dawned on me that I had been using Proton GE for months and my temps never broke 80.

Just curious if anyone else has experienced this, if there really is something GE does for temps.

i broke my linux mint trying to install steam

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 23. Februar 2026 - 23:10

I was just trying to install Steam on the latest Linux Mint Cinnamon version I know Steam on Linux can be tricky sometimes, but I thought I’d follow the usual steps:

Tried installing steam-installer via apt.

Got unmet dependencies errors.

Ran sudo apt --fix-broken install… only to hit “dpkg error while cleaning up”.

Did sudo dpkg --configure -a too many errors, processing halted.

Tried manually adding i386 architecture, installing missing librarie and it kept saying libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 has no installation candidate.

Followed guides to add Valve’s official Steam repo 404 errors / unsupported file / formatting errors.

Attempted cat <<EOF … EOF for repo setup ended up stuck at > prompt.

Tried purging broken packages, moving /etc/apt, recreating APT directories, cleaning caches… some commands worked, some failed.

Eventually, sudo apt update worked but warnings remained, and sudo apt upgrade showed 11 packages upgradable and hundreds of lib dependencies unmet.

At this point, I realized my system is half-broken: dpkg database is tangled, APT shows unmet dependencies, and core libraries are inconsistent.Should i just reinstall Mint or there is a safe repair path? How to prevent this nightmare in the future?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 23. Februar 2026 - 21:33

hi all, running a few programs on wine in i3wm. can't seem to figure out how to make them full screen. it just rejects my shortcut, as though wine is itself not allowing the relevant window to go full screen. i can pop it out, but i can't make it full screen.
