Help Required

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. April 2026 - 16:13

Hello dear Linux users. I'm a windows user and I have kinda had it with windows and their shitty updates breaking and BSODing my stuff. I'm legitimately fed up with it. I'm planning to move to linux for a sorta peace of mind away from AI and all that nonsense.

So I need help from you guys. I tried installing fedora 43 on my laptop ( KDE Plasma ) and I keep getting stuck on the desktop screen after the install ( freezes after 10s or more ). I looked up the issue and apparently I gotta change the linux line in the boot menu using GRUB. Problem is that it sorta fixed the issue and it inly extended the time it takes to freeze my laptop by an additional 10 seconds. One thing I forgot to mention is that I made the boktable USB using balenaetcher and while the process was working I got this message from windows that drive:d has encountered a problem, but the process completed without displaying any errors. I tried to go into drive d ( USB ) but it says that it requires to be formatted before using it. I didn't think much of this and I used the same USB to install linux in my laptop. also while loading the fedora os it for a split second showed a command line saying not recommended to install OS from this device.

So I kinda gave up in my venture and. went back to WINDOWS like a disappointed father.

This time I'm 100 percent down to move to linux, problem is I don't know what distro is best for me and I don't have someone to guide me properly. I'm using a ROG Strix g15 with an RTX 3050 AND Ryzen 7 6800h. I would really appreciate your help and advice.

How do fix this Anti-cheat force issue in SLA Lutris.

I was finally able to run the game after a lot of trials & error but now its this. I checked lots of posts & videos & finally I realized I just had to change the Wine version to wither system or the latest default 2 times before opening the game. But now I am facing this error when starting it up. Any ideas how to fix it??

Forgot to mention I am running CachyOS.

Audio issue that's pissing me off.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. April 2026 - 15:50

So I try many proton versions but some games at some times have an issue where a glitching sound plays when it shouldn't. I have noticed it in geometry dash and Detroit become human but sometimes I have also noticed it outside of games, so it could be a driver issue, but it happens with some Proton versions more than with some others. I can't figure out why. I don't know if it's a driver issue, if it's an issue with Easy Effects, or if it's something unrelated. It only happens in Linux, where I have a dedicated DAC that works fine on Windows. It's a Sound Blaster Audigy RX/5. It works fine on Windows but not on Linux for some reason. Do you know any fix?

Wanting to make 30 FPS feel like console.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. April 2026 - 15:29

Currently dual booting windows and cachyos as I'm liking cachyos more than windows and I would love to play the games I mainly play on windows although there is a question that came up in my mind, Since console games mostly run at around 30fps and they feel so smooth due to motion blur and game optimization, But another factor adds up which is that console aren't filled with bloat like windows is. So I thought why not consider giving this a try on linux since linux is so much lighter when comparing to windows like my on startup ram usage on windows 11 is 6gb and comparing to cachyos its 1gb on startup which is already a massive difference, Usage wise linux feels smoother and faster overall due to less bloat.

Though I've tried to get the console like experience on windows but that really never was successful and It always felt choppy when I searched up on the internet people just said that consoles don't have bloat like windows as I stated above.

Has anyone tried doing this on linux? If yes then how did it went and since I'm pretty new I would also need some help on which software I'll be using to achieve this on linux (like capping fps to 30, cause the game doesn't has one in built option, and adaptive vsync or half vsync) cause im using amd apu.

and yes, I do have a controller.

Any help will be highly appreciated, Peace

Genshin crashing on Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. April 2026 - 15:19

Distro: PopOS

I’ve been a relatively light Linux user for about a year now, so any easy to follow tips would be great! I’ve been playing Genshin on Linux for a while (using Heroic), but starting two updates ago, it began crashing whenever I try to launch. I’ve already reinstalled the game and tried 'An Anime Game Launcher' using the default installation method, but the issue persists. Any clues as to what might be happening?

TLDR: The launcher opens fine, but when I hit 'Start,' it disappears for a few seconds and then just pops back up without the game actually booting

System Specs: In case this affects any consideration

I switched to Linux for sim racing and Assetto Corsa EVO runs BETTER than on Windows — here's my experience

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. April 2026 - 15:08

Hey everyone,

I know the "Linux gaming is ready" debate never really ends, but I wanted to share my personal experience because it genuinely surprised me.

I've been running Assetto Corsa EVO on Linux and the difference compared to my previous Windows setup is noticeable — smoother frametimes, less stuttering mid-race, and overall just a cleaner experience.

I recorded a full lap on the Nürburgring Nordschleife in the Mazda MX-5 Cup and put together a video showing the gameplay + my graphics settings.

A few highlights from my experience:
- Frametimes are more consistent than Windows (no random spikes mid-corner)
- Proton handles the game surprisingly well out of the box
- Graphics settings I'm running: Ryzon 7 5700X / RX 6600 XT
- Distro: Zorin OS 18.1 Core

I'm not here to start a flame war — if Windows works for you, great. But for me, going back feels like a downgrade at this point.

Happy to answer questions about my setup. Video in the comments (didn't want to make this feel like a promo post).

Let's talk about gaming performance

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. April 2026 - 11:40

Hi! I’m still pretty new to Linux and doing a bit of research.

Here’s the situation: I’m currently gaming on Nobara Linux, and overall I’m happy with the performance. I’ve tried several distros - Linux Mint, openSUSE Tumbleweed, and Debian. I applied recommended tweaks, installed the latest available drivers, dependencies, and tools like Gamemode - and the performance still varies across them.

Nobara performs the best, then Mint, then openSUSE, and Debian performed the worst. Same hardware in all cases: Lenovo LOQ 15IRH8, i5-12450H, NVIDIA RTX 4060 Mobile.

My questions:

  1. What exactly makes Nobara Linux so performant? Is it just the CachyOS kernel, or are there other factors?
  2. Is there a way to achieve the same level of gaming performance on other distros manually, or does Nobara include something that can’t be easily replicated?
  3. Are there any universal things I can do on any distro to improve gaming performance, aside from installing up-to-date drivers, etc.?

bottles/faugus/etc disk space.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. April 2026 - 11:34

Been dual booting for a few years, on the off chance I wanted to play any games I would just boot into windows.

Starting to install more games through first bottles and now faugus.

Starting to notice the faugus games folder sizes, every game around 400-600mb. Space on my linux partition is at a premium. Do we just have to accept the space loss? Are people just making sure a few games installed at a time?

Issue with Vtube_Studio and Proton

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. April 2026 - 11:19

2 Days ago I have updated my Drivers for my Laptop(3060) because the laptop was crashing while i was drawing using Krita, the Vtube studio was working find ,. So i updated my Drivers and The Krita app hasn't really crashed but Vtube Studio has been crashing every since

i went from 570 to 590 but since it was crashing i went back to 570 but it was still crashing so i just went to 580 to see if it could solve it.

Don't why its crashing for no reason because it has working pretty nicely for a week , no crashes or stutters or anything but now it just crashes in less than 5 mins . I Tried proton GE , Steam's Hotfix experimenta' and Normal ones too.

I understand that this isn;t really a question about any game but This is the only place i could think of for asking help.

PS: I really liked a Model and I really wanna use it. Thank you in advance for any help

i use zorin os
