Hi guys , in the near future im planning on building a gaming pc for linux gaming/editing. Ive heard that the best build for linux is Radeon and Ryzen , but i dont see much Pcs with this combo. Does anyone have saved build with Radeon and Ryzen? If so , would appreciate if you could share some in the comments. My budget for the pc would be around 2000$. Thanks!

Hello everyone!

I just made a few modifications to my Logitech G920 after a long time of not using it, changed the springs in the pedals and now it feels so smooth! It was incredibly satisfying after getting the result I expected!

After so much time invested, I tried to run some games in my Nobara system, but unfortunately steam doesn't detect the controller (even though some steam games detect it, such as Forza Horizon 2, Dirt Rally and Asetto Corsa)...

The G920 itself is also detected by mapping/config apps (such as AntiMicroX and Oversteer), so, what could be missing to make it visible to steam?

Please, let me know...

Hello everyone,

i am using Bazzite on my pc, 5800x3d and 3080ti

i cant get DCS to run on my system so far.

if i press the start button on steam it starts for a short time and resumes to the green button on steam again.

anyone able to make it work so far?

As You can see im only getting 40 frames

I Used to have Frames from 150 to 240 on windows and swapping to linux i was expecting somewhere around that ballpark too , I'm on Arch Linux (Omarchy) , Running it on proton experimental and no tweaks I seem to have all drivers as the other games are working fine.

I'm SURE I put in a certain password, but when I put it in, it's not going. And I don't want to restart the entire notebook because of this. So does anyone know how to change the password? I already searched, but it didn't work

Even when the GPU has been selected in Lutris, it still uses the primary monitor thats not even connected to the GPU physically.

Is there a way to force the secondary monitor with Lutris or Heroic launchers? (Basically I would like full access to the desktop while running the games.)

Just made the switch from windows 11 to cachy OS, and wanted to get as many of the apps I could get from when I was on windows, so I got wine and Proton, and went to install steel series GG, but im having no luck trying to log in because the text boxes have no text in them please explain everything like youre teaching a 5 year old

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to play Assetto Corsa from Steam on Pop!_OS so I followed some guide for that. So I'm able to run the game through Content Manager but I have 2 issues.

First, when I launch AC from Steam, I keep having an error message about .NET 4.8. You can see it on one of the pictures. If I say yes, it tries to install but fail. If I want to say no, I need to go through the same popup 4 times before Content Manger appears.
This problem is not a big deal as I can play the game but I'm wandering if there's anything not working properly, and might have consequences on the second problem.

For de issue 2, I have an error message telling me the game can't be patched with Custom Shaders Patch. This issue is annoying as I want to play the game with mods! As you can see on the picture, there's tone of errors. And of course, I checked my game have the good version (1.16.4).

Any ideas on how to make, at least, CSP works?

Damn... I guess will stick with my Windows 10 for a while. I heard how NVIDIA is horrible for Linux users and AMD GPUs should be used instead.

using nobara os, lutris launcher, proton ge latest version, i used this optimization vid config but it only helped so much, i need constant 60+ fps but i can barely reach it before going back down to 50 or so, i genuiely have no clue why perf is so low, could it just be my specs? i got a whole lot better fps back on windows if i remember correctly with the same pc so any help is greatly appreciated. the issue is specific to the game so ig it might not be really a linux related issue to begin with but nevertheless its worth asking.

specs:

CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F (6 cores / 12 threads)

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 (Driver 580.105.08)

RAM: 16 GB

Storage: 1 TB NVMe SSD (Lexar NM620)

Motherboard: ASUS PRIME H610M-A D4

Kernel: 6.17.10-200.nobara.fc43.x86_64

Display: 1920x1080 @ 180Hz

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to Linux gaming and running into an issue I can't figure out. Hoping someone can help me out.

My setup:

• Laptop with Intel i5-6300U and Intel HD 520 graphics
• Running Zorin OS 18
• Trying to play Left 4 Dead (non-Steam version with SmartSteamEmu crack)

The Game:

• Game: Left 4 Dead (non-Steam version)
• Source: DODI Repack (based on CS-Steam Release)
• Crack: SmartSteamEmu v1.4.3 included
• Launcher: SmartSteamLoader.exe
• Game Files Location: ~/Games/Left 4 Dead/

The problem:
When I use Wine-GE in Bottles or Heroic, the game works perfectly.

Engine Error: Steam is not running. You must start Steam in order to play this game.

What's weird:

• Same game files, same settings, just different "runner"
• Wine-GE works, GE-Proton doesn't
• Even tried running actual Steam in background - still fails

What I've tried:

• Different GE-Proton versions
• With/without DXVK
• Windows 7 and Windows 10

My questions:

1. Why does GE-Proton fail when Wine-GE works on the exact same game?
2. Is there a way to "trick" GE-Proton into working with cracked/non-Steam games?
3. Should I be using DLL overrides or something similar?
4. Do I just accept that GE-Proton is only for real Steam games?

What I want:
I'd like to use GE-Proton because people say it has better performance for some games. But right now I can only use Wine-GE for my non-Steam games.

Has anyone gotten GE-Proton to work with SmartSteamEmu or Goldberg emulator games? What did you do to fix the "Steam is not running" error?

Thanks for any help! Still learning this Linux gaming stuff.

Why it's confusing: Everything else is identical - game files, settings, everything. Just swapping Wine-GE for GE-Proton breaks it. Makes me think GE-Proton is "checking" for Steam in a way that Wine-GE doesn't.

❗❗ UPDATE / INTERESTING FIND: I just discovered that Dead Space 1 (another DODI repack from 2008) runs perfectly with BOTH Wine-GE AND GE-Proton on the same system. This makes the Left 4 Dead issue even more confusing - why does GE-Proton work with some repacks but not others?

Has anyone else noticed GE-Proton being picky with certain games/cracks?
