Whenever I launch a steam game my CPU usage jumps to 100% what can i do to fix this?
Pretty much what it says in the Title, I've got proton turned on for my steam games and the only issue I've ran into has been that they run terribly, less than 1 FPS in the worst cases. I thought at first this was because I was using a bad proton version for the game, what I've since realized is that the actual problem is probably the CPU usage.
I'm new to linux, in all honesty I installed the OS on an impulse thinking I could figure it all out later, but this is stumping me pretty bad. I'm using Linux Mint and Nvidia graphics drivers all installed. Any and all help appreciated.

Fedora WS vs. Bazzite
What am I doing wrong?
The first benchmark is on fedora 42 (gnome) and the second is bazzite (kde) with fresh updates. I copied over the settings of both the game and the launcher. I ran 3 tests in a row on both distros and posted the best. I use proton 10-8, but bazzite is 15% behind.
There must be something obvious that im missing.

For Honor trough Lutris
Is it borked outside of Steam or are there any fixes ?
PROTON_EAC_RUNTIME="/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton EasyAntiCheat Runtime/" %command% doesn't help.

Fcitx5 causes long-presses to not work in video games.
This was the OG issue, and this post is after I figured out that the culprit is fcitx5
The issue of course disappears when I close fcitx5, but I'm a native Bengali and I want fcitx5 to be running in the background at all times when I need to quickly switch to Bangla typing.

Any way to fix Left 4 Dead 2's insane crashes when any audio mod is installed?
Running CachyOS on kernel 6.15.5 with a Ryzen 7 2700x and an RX 590 but I don't think hardware or kernel version is the problem here. I have also tried both Steam (Native) and Steam which are installed through the CachyOS gaming meta package but NOT flatpak Steam because getting it to read games off my secondary drive is a bitch.
Model replacement mods seem to be fine and I have read that custom campaigns seem to be okay too- *unless* they replace audio.
I'm wondering if there's any way to fix this(research did not help), as running the game through Proton is not really an option for a few reasons.

How to add Steam games to Heroic Games on Linux
Note: They'll still run through steam, but they will appear in your Heroic library and launch steam and the game from there.
====================== 1. Find the game ID Automatic (Easy)- Get protontricks using your package manager or flatpak
- Use the command line or GUI as the github says. ```bash # Find your game's App ID by searching for it protontricks -s <GAME NAME>
protontricks -l ``` - Copy the game ID and save it somewhere.
Manual (Why?)If it's a Steam Game This can be done through game properties. - Right click the game. - Click on 'properties'. - Click on 'Updates' if present. - Copy the game ID and save it somewhere.
If it's a Non-Steam Game This can be done through file manager. - Go to /home/<Your User>/.steam/steam/steamapps bash cd /home/<Your User>/.steam/steam/steamapps - Grep the appmanifest files for the name of the game. bash grep "<Your game>" *.acf - Game ID is saved after the _ of the appmanifest till the .acf extension. - Copy the game ID and save it somewhere.
2. Make a script that runs it through ID- Run this line while replacing Game-ID and Game-Name. bash echo "xdg-open steam://rungameid/<Game-ID>" > Game-Name.sh; chmod +x Game-Name.sh
- Press Add game
- Choose Linux as target platform
- Add your script as the executable
- Customize as you like and press Finish # ======================
Now games should run from heroic and launch steam. Do note that configuration of the game will be done from steam such as choosing compatibility layer. The purpose of this is to have the library in one place, configuring it however will be from the respective launcher.
This is a thing I do because I love how the Heroic Games Launcher works and looks, and I put most of my library there so it's only steam games that I want to add. You can automate this process with scripts all you like, this is just to help the unfamiliar get ideas as I myself would've loved to see something like this somewhere.
If there is a cleaner way to add steam games to heroic, please let me know. Till then, this is how I do it.

Sober keeps crashing in the middle of a game
I'm on Debian 14 (unstable/sid) with i3wm, and I was trying to use Sober. It worked well for like 20-30 minutes, then the game froze and the whole app closed. I checked btop, it wasn't running in the background or anything, as if it got kill -9'd. Has anyone else faced this problem? I have an intel evo i7 processor with intel iris xe graphics on my laptop.

Has anyone been able to get the 8bitdo Pro 2 to work in Direct Input mode? I'm trying to setup the backpaddles and gyro. Fedora 42, Steam beta
Well, title basically. I know that Steam has had some updates lately that added support for this controller specifically, and it works fine on Windows 11.
On Fedora I can see the correct glyphs for the Pro 2, but doesn´t seems to take any input.
Using Xinput works perfectly, but I loose the ability to config the backpaddles and gyro.
Any ideas?

[Linux Mint Setup] Minecraft PvP + Emulation on a Chromebook 500e (2nd Gen)
Running Linux Mint XFCE on a Lenovo Chromebook 500e (Celeron N4120, 8GB RAM) — getting 100+ FPS in Minecraft duels on Lunar Client, plus smooth GBA/DS emulation (Mother 3 goes hard 😭).
Perfect little dev + gaming setup. Lightweight, minimal, and way more capable than it should be.

RDR2 Error FFFFFFF - Has anyone been able to launch the game with DX12?
Like so many, I frequently run in to the FFFFFF error. I've tried several guides.... but they don't seem to solve the issue.
The recommendation on Windows systems is to switch to DX12 even though Vulkan is supposed to be more performant. I just wondered if anyone has been able to use DX12 on linux? If so, is there a guide somewhere?
It results in a no start situation for me. Anyway, thanks in advance for your help!

Steam launcher argument to change compatdata prefix not working
I have skyrim se installed via steam. It plays properly. I have mo2 installed outside of the steam library on the same drive. I added mo2 as a non-steam game. It launches and plays properly by itself. When I launck the skies from within mo2 skyrim launches and plays without issue. This us good enough for me. I don't care which prefix is used as long as I can play modded skyrim.
I have a relative that wants to play skyrim but I don't want them going through mo2 and potentially breaking something. When I try to add steam launch arguments to skyrim to steam will load up mo2 first, start the instance/profile/skies exe that I want, it doesn't play.
To troubleshoot I tried something i thought would be simpler. I tried to add a launch argument to mo2 to just change the prefix to skyrimse's prefix. That doesn't work.
I have already looked everywhere on internet and can't figure it out. I am stuck.
For reference the mo2 launch argument that I used is: STEAM_COMPAT_DATA_PATH="/mnt/GameNVNE/SteamLibrary/steamapps/compatdata/489830" %command%

Fragpunk Launches for 30-40 seconds and then closes without errors
As the title says im trying to run Fragpunk and it just closes without any errors.
Im using CachyOS
CPU: AMD ryzen 7 5800x
GPU: RTX 3080 10GB
i have tried running the game on proton 9, experimental, GE 9-27, GE 10-4, GE 10-8 and proton-cachyos all produce the same result.
i have tried running the game with "-dx11" and without it both produce the same result.
i have also tried running it with gamescope no difference.
if i can get any help that would be great.

Hi, need help with Spiderman Remastered
Setup:
7800x3d (iGPU disable in bios to avoid VRAM misread)
7900xt
32GB Ram
Bazzite OS (latest-stable)
I'm new to linux in general so sorry in advance if I may not understand something that's probabily easy, when i enable RT in game (steam version) the game crashes and I get a message: the game crashed due to exceeding vram. This makes no sense since the game works fine in W11 and i have 20GB of VRAM. What could it be?

Is this deal too good to be true? 16" 300Hz, 275HX, RTX 5090, 32GB, 1TB, Ubuntu 24.04: $2070
Dune Awakening on a 5800X3D with NVIDIA
Did anyone here have any success in getting Dune Awakening to run reliably on a 5800X3D with an NVIDIA GPU? Looking at ProtonDB this particular combination seems to cause frequent crashes. All the reports with that combo are saying that. The only ones with a 5800X3D that say it works fine use an AMD card. I myself have a 5800X3D, a RTX4070 and 64GB of RAM. I'm using the Flatpak Steam on Debian and other UE5 titles work fine without any stability issues. The game runs well I don't have any performance issues, but after 20-30 minutes it reliably freezes for a minute and then crashes. I have tried all possible combinations of launch options from ProtonDB but so far no luck. So I'm really curios if anyone has the game running reliably on that hardware combination and if so, how they're running it.
