4K, 60FPS, HDR and VRR on Linux
I have seen several posts about this but most seem to be old or say different and was wondering if someone has a definitive answe to this. I have a PC with HDMI 2.1 out and a TV with HDMI 2.1 in. I want to hook these up and run it in 4K, 60FPS, with HDR and VRR. Is that possible on linux? If not, is there some adapter or something I can buy that will make it work? I know that linux only really supports HDMI 2.0 but everywhere I look I see different answers on wether 2.0 can handle all that.

So, I really want to learn to code and basics of designing a game..
So, I really want to learn to code and basics of designing a game..
I'm 37, with a nursing degree and my only experience with computers is basic ,essentially how to install a game and play it. My question is,is it feasible with my age and lack of experience/knowledge? Are there any cheap or events free programs I can begin to work on the basics while I gather scholarships to apply to a college. Any thought on the matter are appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Are there any XFCE distros where I can install steam gamescope and have SteamDeck like experience, with a separate desktop and gaming mode?
I was doing research and it looks like gamescope can be installed seperately, are there any XFCE distros where I can install gamescope and have it configured to be like SteamOS?

Pop!_OS or Garuda KDE For Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves
Hiya, I'm a beginner to intermediate at Linux. I am technical enough, I use Linux Mint on my work laptop, build my own PCs and can easily download Linux and Windows onto them, and I have tried using Ubuntu for gaming about 3 years ago. Every few years I put my game saves and files on a hard drive and do a complete wipe of my pc. I am days away from upgrading from a mostly Nvidia system to AMD (before rammageddon started yay) and am due to do this. But with the new surge of Microsoft violating my privacy and putting things I don't want or care for in their OS, I was wondering if it's worth switching to gaming friendly systems like Pop!_OS or Garuda KDE. A grand majority of my games are on steam (and EA a bit) and I have used Proton/Wine mostly successfully in the past, doing all the downloading and debugging on my own. The issue I had was that I was very much a Genshin Impact player, and still am. Know I have heard that, ah, illegitimate support is there for Linux these days for that game, so that's less of a concern as it was in the past. But I have also really gotten into Wuthering Waves, and as a newer game with the same core issues I'm a bit worried about having to do debugging every time I want to play it with the current support it may have. So I want feedback from others who play those games, or are just experienced with Linux running non steam systems, and what Linux system works best for them. I've heard that Pop!_OS and Garuda KDE are best, and that Pop is more beginner friendly while Garuda has better gaming performance, but in terms and my experience and needs I'm a bit torn.
TLDR; I'm not terrible with Linux and like it, but want to play my pretty Chinese games without it being a huge pain, and need others to either reassure or warn me (and recommend a Linux system)

¿It can still be run with some VKD3D games.?
I know there are many problems with the Pascal series and DirectX 12 games (VKD3D), but I'm wondering if it might work well now. I have the latest driver (581.80). For example, I plan to run Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Disk write error in bazzite
I recently installed bazzite on to a 2tb external ssd. I have only a couple of games installed with about 1.8tb free. I am now getting cloud errors and disk write errors when I try to start steam. Chown -r fixed it temporarily, but every time I boot the issue comes back. I did add the game library to my windows boot (which probably caused the issue). Is there any way to fix this without a total reinstall?

Stop all my open windows from rearranging when I hover over the dock?
Seeing Marble's Marbles run on a steamdeck makes me so happy. It is running native and is my fav way to playtest the game!
It is a homage to the classic arcade marble games I really love (mainly Marble Madness, Gyroscope, Hamsterball and Ballance).
If you want to see some of the other words/see more the steam page is here https://store.steampowered.com/app/4137920/Marbles_Marbles/

Steam OS or Debian w/ Steam
Hello,
I have been a vanilla Debian user for a while as well as a steam deck enjoyer.
I have a gaming pc that’s all AMD and compatible with steam OS.
I wonder the advantages of running steam OS vs steam on Debian, from a gaming standpoint. Would the performance be better on steam OS?
SteamOS is attractive since a lot of solutions are tailored to it, including emudeck and others.
Thanks for any advice!

[Rev-Share] I’m building a team for 'Austraoxe' (Portal-inspired Puzzler). Seeking a Level Designer, 3D Artist, and Sound Designer to ensure a flawless Linux Native release.
Hi r/linux_gaming.
I’ve been posting updates here about Austraoxe, my first-person puzzle game built in Unreal Engine 5. The Situation:
As a solo programmer, I have the core mechanics and physics working. However, to hit the high visual and atmospheric fidelity I’m aiming for (think Portal 2 meets Severance), I need specialists.
Since I recently had to move my development environment to Windows for stability, I am specifically looking for teammates who use Linux daily. I want to ensure our Native build is tested constantly on real hardware.
The Roles Open:
1- 3D Environment Artist: You excel at 'industrial decay.' We need that sterile-but-grimy lab aesthetic. (Blender/Maya -> UE5).
2- Level Designer: You understand puzzle pacing and leading the player with lighting.
3- Sound Designer: The game relies heavily on atmosphere. I need someone to create the ambient hums, footsteps, and mechanical crunches that make the facility feel alive.
The Deal:
This is a Revenue Share project. We build it, we ship it, we split the profit.
If you want to help build a high-quality Linux-native game, please DM me or drop a comment with your portfolio/previous work.
