Are these Roblox and Roblox Studio logos original or fake?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 18. April 2025 - 17:21

i was bored and started digging through the files on my fedora linux laptop and found these 2 roblox logos as if they were from linux or in a simplified style but very simplified to the originals (i retouched them by increasing the quality because the quality is very bad) does anyone know if these are original or something like that? they are logos from roblox studio and from normal roblox, i manually uploaded the quality on kleki.com (that page doesn't matter much but i mention it anyway) and the 2 with the original names mention ¨grapejuice¨ followed by the name of whether it is roblox or roblox studio and it is separated with ¨_¨ between that.

Gaming laptop that works best to dual-boot?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 18. April 2025 - 16:18

I currently use an ASUS ROG G14 laptop and have been thinking about returning to the Linux ecosystem -- I used to daily drive Ubuntu years ago (something like 10 years ago now, wow) and would like to get a dual-boot setup running again sometime soon. However, the ROG laptops have a bunch of Asus bloatware and numerous hardware issues even on the Windows side, and while there is a community project to make it work with Linux (currently best supported through Fedora and Arch), it still sounds like there are some compatibility issues.

However, I may get a new laptop relatively soon (probably towards the end of the year). I am definitely not getting another Asus as it has been a nightmare dealing with this one even just on Windows. So I figured I would ask: What gaming laptops support Linux well out of the box? I know there will always be some fiddling to do to make it work 100%, but I would prefer minimal fiddling.

We're planning a native Linux release for our upcoming PvP MOBA — would you be interested?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 18. April 2025 - 15:21

Hi everyone,

We’re the developers of Steel Swarm: Apocalypse — a free-to-play, real-time PvP MOBA where players pilot tactical tanks (XBTs) in a destructible city.

We’re currently working on a native Linux build and wanted to ask this community:

Would you be interested in seeing SSA available natively on Linux (not Proton)?

The game supports real-time 5v5 multiplayer, full controller support, large-scale battles with thousands of units, and even map-shaping via building destruction. Steam Deck support is in progress too.

We’re testing Vulkan compatibility and open to suggestions from the Linux community.

Would native Linux support be something meaningful for you as a player?

We’d love to hear your thoughts!

nProtect Gameguard - Non Steam Game

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 18. April 2025 - 14:47

So I want to try the new Ragnarok Online LATAM server, but the AC is nProtect Gameguard. Is there any way to bypass it?

I have tried with wine/proton, but get the CNProtectGameGuardMgr::CreateInstance() error. I know Helldivers 2 use it and playing is possible on Linux, but not sure if it's the case for any game?

Even VM would be acceptable if it works

If you are playing Last Epoch and have stutters on a decent machine, this might help

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 18. April 2025 - 14:03

Last Epoch's Season 2 came out yesterday, but I was experiencing weird stutters despite playing only on 1080p with 5700x3d, 7800xt on CachyOS.

Turns out it's a DX11 game and it had issues with Proton-Experimental.

Had to download Proton- GE then opening the game's options and under Compatability selecting a specific proton-ge version (as the rest of my games run well with proton-experimental), then run the game with DXVK_ASYNC=1 and things feel much much smoother now with lows not dipping below 130s.

Mangohud is displaying wrong infos

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 18. April 2025 - 13:23

I launched sons of the forest with this command:
gamescope --mangoapp -f -W 2560 -w 2560 -H 1440 -h 1440 -- game-performance %command%
Mangohud displays 15fps, when the in game counter (on the left, second column) is showing the real fps (i can feel they are not 15 in game).
I have this issue also launching games with lutris. I am using cachyos with proton-cachyos.

Is Linux more limited in gaming than Windows?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 18. April 2025 - 13:09

Hi everyone, today I got a question for y'all. I've never used Linux, I used Windows until now. RIght now, I'm thinking about moving to Linux, and I need y'all help. I play new games, and old games, that I usually crack on windows. Is it possible to do so on Linux? Is modding available on Linux? I usually play GTA SA with mods, and I'd like to be able to do so in linux too. Thanks anticipated.

Global Hotkeys - Comms Heavy Gaming

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 18. April 2025 - 11:37

Heya folks,

Have setup Mint and Arch and had the all working extremely well with the games I play. One I do play is EVE and it is very comms heavy. Sometimes multiple mumble and discord comms.

In Windows its just multiple push to talk keys, but I can't seem to get this working unless the app is focused in Linux. Have read about it and it seems to be a security measure but has anyone got some insight into making it work. Really the only thing that's holding me back on a full switch.

Should I Dual Boot or Use a VM for Ubuntu Minecraft Server on My New PC?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 18. April 2025 - 11:01

Hey everyone! I recently got a new PC and I'm trying to figure out the best setup for both gaming and running a Minecraft server for me and my friends. Here’s what I have:

  • 64GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM
  • Ryzen 7 5700X or 5600X (not entirely sure which one
  • RX 5600 or RX 6600 GPU (also somewhere in that performance range)

My main use for the system will be gaming on Windows 11, but I also want to run Ubuntu for hosting a Minecraft server. I’m torn between two options:

  1. Dual-booting: Partitioning the drive and installing both Windows 11 and Ubuntu, so I can choose which one to boot into based on what I need.
  2. VM Setup: Running Ubuntu in a Virtual Machine while staying in Windows 11 for everything else.

I have the hardware to support it, but I’m not sure which would give me the best balance of performance and convenience. I’d appreciate any insights on which approach would be better for running a Minecraft server in Ubuntu while still keeping gaming performance top-notch on Windows.

Thanks in advance!

Use Lutris To run executable in Proton Prefix

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 18. April 2025 - 10:44

Hey,

I'm trying to figure out modding on Linux. To be fair, I installed Linux yesterday, so maybe this question is pretty basic...

Most games I've tested so far seem to work fine on Steam with Proton. Some older Windows games even perform better than on Win11.

I want to try modding my games now and begin with a Unity-based game called Pathfinder: Wrath of the Rogues.

I found this short guide.

With Unity games, modding works as follows: there's a Unity Mod Manager (UMM) you need to install somewhere on your system. You specify which game you want to mod (there's a supported games list), and you can provide it with the path to that game (or let UMM find it automatically).

UMM then performs DLL injection into the game, allowing you to drag and drop zip mods into its interface window to install them for the game you chose.

The method I found in the guide involves placing the UMM executable into the same Proton prefix as my game and adding the executable of the game to Steam as a Non-Steam game. Then, after running it(UMM as a non steam game), I can add the mods I want before starting the game.

My question is: Can I use Lutris instead of adding UMM as a separate non-Steam game?

I mean, can I set up UMM in Lutris and specify that it runs in the same Proton prefix as the Steam-installed Pathfinder game?

Perhaps my issue is just a psychological barrier of not wanting to bloat my steam interface with a bunch of non steam moding tools.

Becuse there is another modding tool for Pathfinder, it's called Mod Finder https://github.com/Pathfinder-WOTR-Modding-Community/ModFinder

Mod Finder is another tool for modding Pathfinder and works by accompanying UMM to help manage mods better. So if I want to use it, I'll need to add another Non steam game to steam.

Maybe there's a more efficient method that could be explored instead of cluttering my Steam library with multiple modding tools ?

I think in Lutrix this somehow can be managed better maybe?

Anyone else here having problems with a 9070XT?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 18. April 2025 - 08:12

So I got pretty lucky and I managed to grab a 9070XT, my only problem is here im having quite a bit of trouble getting it working right. I was using mint 22.1 but it doesn't seem to support it yet, I tried updating the kernel and a bunch of other doodads and I could not get it to recognize the 9070XT, so then I tried switching over to nobara and for some reason I just can't get anything running right, I can boot into marvel rivals but the moment I start a match the game will keep playing in the background but it freezes on the hero screen leading me to believe it's a driver issue.
