Ninja Gaiden 4 VP9 Codec Issue
Hello all! New here to the group and new to Linux gaming. I'm running into an issue with Ninja Gaiden 4. I was able to get the game installed and running on Zorin OS, but it won't continue forward stating that I'm missing the VP9 codec. Does anyone know how to fix this issue (if there is a fix)?
All I could find was .appx packages, which to my understanding, can't be installed on Linux due to being Windows binaries. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Poor frame pacing/stuttering ONLY in FF7 Rebirth
System and specs:
i7 13700kf
Nvidia RTX 4090
32GB DDR5 7200mhz RAM
Arch Linux
Proton GE 10-21
Launch options:
ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=nodxr VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hvv VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_2 gamemoderun mangohud %command%
I want to play FF7 Rebirth, but something is causing horrible stuttering and I can't figure out what. At first I thought it might be related to the DX12 issues faced by the Nvidia linux driver, but the other DX12 games I tested (Expedition 33, Horizon Forbidden West) run as smooth as they do on Windows. The issue persists whether I run the game at a capped frame rate or uncapped. Performance is theoretically great if you look at the frame rate, but the stutters are awful and the frame time graph isn't stable at all.
Has anyone else experienced this issue and managed to find a workaround?

Age of Empires Collector’s edition bypass physical DVD requirement [Steam Deck]
My mom bought AoE:CE a long time ago, and I’ve recently taken interest in playing it again.
I’ve figured out how to run the installer from the DVD (I have a peripheral reader), and also know the prefix the game is installed on, but it won’t run unless the physical DVD is mounted.
I’ve cloned the cd contents to an ISO with dd and mounted it using the terminal to see if I could trick the game with a virtual device instead of the physical one. I’ve made sure the drive was detected within the prefix using the protontricks flatpak.
However, the game is still able to detect that no DVD is connected to the steam deck, and refuses to run yet again. I noticed that when I do plug the DVD in, the reader makes a noise when I first start the game.
Is there any way I can play this game without needing a dvd reader with me? I can only think of somehow modifying a binary to bypass the restriction.

Problems with the gamepad in mint
I'm having problems with the Gulikit King Kong 3 Pro gamepad on Mint. It works with a lot of lag in 2.4ghz dungle mode, using the USB cable in Windows mode after a while it gets out of control and moves on its own. The gamepad only works well in switch mode via the USB cable. Which gamepad, preferably with a hall effect on the analog sticks and triggers, is compatible with Mint? Linux mint 22.2 cinnamon.

Easiest way to move games from a Windows based HDD card to a Linux based computer?
I'm planning on getting a new computer and using Linux with it, probably Bazzite. I currently have a lot of my games on an external harddrive. Since it is formatted for Windows files I know I wont be able to run games on it with Linux, so I want to move my games to my main SSD card.
My questions is whether I can simply plug the HDD card into the new computer after I've installed Linux and simply move all games from the HDD card to the SSD. Or will this not work since the games are also formatted for Windows?
If it doesnt work, is it easier to simply just re-install all games I want to play at that moment on the new computer? Or is it easier to make backups of all my games, put them on the HDD card, and then plug it in and restore the backups to the new computer?

Switching to Bazzite?
Hello, I'm currently thinking about switching from Windows 11 to Linux, I mainly play games on my PC. I've also watched several videos about Bazzite and asked myself whether it really works that well. Unfortunately, I don't know much about Linux and wanted to ask for experience reports. Thanks in advance for reading :).

CPU Throttling when Gaming
Hi Guys,
I recently switched my laptop OS to Mint and am super happy. However, when trying to game Ive hit an annoying problem. Basically when I load up a game my CPU is being throttled hard, and I don't know why or how to stop it. Ive worked the problem with the AI and they threw in the towel. I'm hoping someone out there might have the solution for me.
Im trying to run Anno 1800 (via wine) When the game loads all CPU cores are throttled to 2400MHz, temps are fine at 60deg. GPU has not even 30% utilization and FPS is around 20ish...
Things I tried with the claude and chatgpt help:
MSR unlocks, intel_pstate disable, throttled daemon, all governors/profiles
BIOS is up to date and I couldnt find any power options in there
AI reckons its Dell EC firmware that cant be overriden....
i have not problem spinning the cores up to 4000MHz if the game is not running though
Its a Dell G3 3579 i5 8300H with Nvidia GTX 1050
I really dont wanna have to go back to windows :(

Attackshark x3 mouse shows this message even when it is connected via USB
I tried connecting via Bluetooth and making sure the USB is attached correctly but it still show the same message.
It shows the same error message even when I try to use the app on my windows 10 emulator using virtualbox.

Help picking a distro
Hi guys, you see, I've been using Linux for a few years now (My first distro was one from the government of my country, based on Debian, and then I switched to Zorin OS)
The thing is, soon I'm going to get a new PC, I already have most of the components (A Ryzen 5 5500 with an RX 6600) and I was looking at some gaming distros out there (I know I can do that with any distro, but I like things already configured)
And I picked these ones: PikaOS, CachyOS, Bazzite, and Garuda Gaming. Which one do you recommend me to use? Or what would be the advantages of each? I would like to squeeze out as much performance as I can if possible.
(Also- despite using Linux for a couple of years now, I'm not very expert in it, I mean, I know how to use the terminal and all but not that much. And sorry for any mistakes in the text, I'm using a translator)

Translate games
Hey guys. When I used Windows, I liked to use MORT and xUnity Autotranslator to be able to play my games in my native language, but on Linux I simply can't use these two programs anymore, I've tried running them with Wine and Bottles (it didn't work), there are always NET problems. even though I have already downloaded the packages (Including anything that requires these Win libraries simply does not work on my Linux Mint). Do you know of any way to make these programs work? Or do you know of other programs suitable for Linux that translate the PC screen in real time like MORT doesn't do? Please, my Windows meneger is corrupted, so dualboot is unfortunately not an option for me anyway and I soooo want to be able to play my games :(

Wondering what would be the best option for me?
I have an RTX 4090 build that I current have set up to dual boot windows 11 and Fedora KDE.
Unfortunately, the experience on linux hasn't been great. I have 2x ultrawide monitors and 2x 16x9 monitors. I was having a lot of issues getting games to scale correctly with my 3440x1440 resolutions on my main display for games using xwayland. The correct 3440x1440 resolution would just be missing. So I had to force enable gamescope to get some games to pick up the correct resolution and force HDR.
Are there any good workarounds to this yet? Some distro like bazzite or cachyos that will just work from the get go without having to set gamescope in launch options for games?
The OS sees the right resolution

Anyone Playing Honkai Star rail on Linux ? Launcher stuck at "Disable Telemetry" step
Hey guys,
I’m on EndeavourOS and tried installing Honkai: Star Rail using the Honkers Railway Launcher. Everything went fine, the launcher downloaded and installed the entire game successfully but once it reached the “Disable Telemetry” step, it just gets stuck there, the launcher is still interactive ( I can open the launcher settings and everything) but there's no launch option for the game, it's just the greyed out "disable Telemetry" button.
No matter how long I wait, it never proceeds to the next step. If I close and reopen the launcher, it still shows the “Disable Telemetry” option, and clicking it again just hangs there forever.
So I wanted to ask, What are you guys using to run Honkai: Star Rail on Linux right now?
