Linux 6.19's significant ~30% performance boost for old AMD Radeon GPUs
Ubisoft Connect is slow to start
I picked up Star Wars Outlaws on sale through Steam. While the game plays after disabling raytracing, Ubisoft Connect (which is required) takes several minutes to start. I've done some research and tried disabling IPv6, adding WINEDLLOVERRIDES="libglesv2=d" %command% to the game command properties, using Lutris instead to use Ubisoft, installed Ubisoft Connect directly via Wine... nothing I do speeds up the process. Does anyone have ideas how to get it to load faster? I'm on Fedora but have also tried Kubuntu. Also, I have an nVidia RTX 5060.

Mouse can't control camera on God of War Ragnarok
I know it's not a Linux specific problem, but on windows it's solution is fairly easy which depends on Gameinput service, on Linux I can't download it because wine doesn't support it or something.
I'll be thankful if anyone can help me

I'm always getting this error...
Hello, I've been trying to run Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora on my PC but after some time playing my whole OS crashes and the screen gets visual artifacts making me have to force shutdown it. It happened on Kubuntu 25.10 and now I switched to Fedora 43 and I still have the problem, in both I had the latest Steam official package (no flatpak or snap) and I've tried using the other proton versions + GE proton + gamemoderun and im tired of this issue

RDR2: How to enable HDR? Issue with using wayland.
I own RDR2 on Rockstar launcher, I installed the launcher using lutris and then installed the game. The game runs fine as is but when I try to enable HDR using the following env variables:
PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1
PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1
The game does not launch and it says error with authentication (check the screenshot)
Any other game that I try with those variables works just fine.
System info:
OS: CachyOS
CPU: Ryzen 5 7600x
GPU: Radeon 7800xt
DE: KDE(wayland)
Mesa: Mesa 25.2.6 (git-3f12436d80)
Proton: proton-cachyos

Artifacts on Debian 13 with Intel ARC eGPU
Guys, I'm trying to play Helldivers 2 on my laptop with an Intel Core Ultra 5 135H, but the game is producing an unreal amount of artifacts, even though the fps is quite playable (see attached screenshot). The problem is present in both the legacy and slim versions of the game. The GPU is working fine, I've been testing it for a long time.
The system is running the latest version of Debian 13 with kernel 6.12 and xorg.
Please advise what the problem might be and how to solve it. Thanks!

Gaming Linux on a 1050ti?
Hi all,
I am a beginner-to-intermediate linux user. I am running linux on a bunch of machines, including a few Zorin, a steam deck, and a bazzite gaming machine.
One machine that gives me trouble is an old dell desktop tower with 40 GB of Ram and a 1050ti. It is running Zorin OS 17.3 at the moment. The machine works great, other than gaming performance is poor on it, even relative to what would be expected for a 1050ti. I'm sure its related to my video card/drivers. Some advice on how to proceed would be appreciated.
What video driver to I want for a 10 series? The proprietary driver seems to support only 16 series and newer.
Is there a distro that has better built in support for the 1050 ti that I should consider switching to?

How exactly Debian is lesser than example Fedora, Arch or a variant of those two (in terms of gaming and performance)?
Everywhere I go people look down upon Debian when it comes to performance. I ate that propaganda until I acutally tried to game with Debian, I have it on my server so I know my way around.
I started using linux this year and I've still been hopping, mainly searching and tinkering with Arch, Fedora and Debian. I don't consider Arch anymore but Fedora and Debian are still on the table.
I installed minimal Debian and put KDE Plasma on top of it, and got kernel, firmware and Mesa from backports for the Stable variant and well, now the performance is Toe-to-Toe with Fedora. Numbers were about 5% better on Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark with Debian.
So...what am I missing? Is it all just a big misunderstanding?
Yes, I am picking newer software for my Debian to get it to run like Fedora and Arch but isn't that kinda it? Does it matter that everything else in your system is "old"?
I'm still on the edge to update to Sid but we'll see.
EDIT: Oh yeah, hardware. CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x GPU: AMD 9070 XT RAM: DDR4 32GB 3600MHZ

Has anyone tried playing GOG's Breath of Fire IV using Heroic? How well does it work?
I used to be a Lutris only type of fellow, but sadly it seems the project has been abandoned; or paused for right now.
To that end, with GOG's winter sale, Breath of Fire IV looks interesting (I'm in the mood for a JRPG). I'm just wondering how well it will work in Linux via Heroic.
Does anyone have any experience?
Thanks

Radeon driver question
Pls forgive the noob question.
Ive just installed Bazzite, and using a Radeon 7900XT.
Do I need to install the proprietary drivers for the GFX card as well? or is it all contained in the OS already?
Thanks

Heroes of Might and Magic 2 project fheroes2 version 1.1.13 has been released
Currently using Nobara but I'm thinking of switching to Cachy and I got some questions about it
Hello, I'm a new linux user and currently using Nobara. It's a great distro, but I'm kinda thinking of switching, the reason being because Nobara is using their own custom modified packages, it limits the app and package installations to use their own installer to be compatible and it made me scared to install some stuff outside them. This goes the same for support where I can only ask their community if I have some problem with the system.
I have some questions for CachyOS, is it also the same case for that distro where if you need support you can only ask Cachy community or can I also ask Arch community? Can I install app and packages without needing to worry about compatibility? Also Nobara has a driver manager app where it's really easy to install, update and change driver, is it the same with Cachy?

Discord RPC for all steam games
I made a Discord Rich Presence script for Mac/Linux that supports all steam games. It also supports modding, so, for example, with my Undertale mod I can display my location, name and LoVE in my profile. Also you can change the static game name, icon and description (which by default is a list of developers)

Game developers aren't switching to Linux, at least professionally
So I found a post in here and there's 2 big reasons and one smaller
- Porting to consoles requires Windows, no way around it
- Proton is fine enough
- Windows has tools like Visual Studio which are needed
As a hobbyist who supports Linux in his games, all I can say is good luck with Linux revolution lmao

Steam Unable to add non steam game as game FIX
Hello everyone , i have found this workaround
step1. add an app that is already listed in the programs
step 2 : open its properties and go this ( before : image )
Step 3:: now change the target to the exe file u want to execute
step4 : also change the start In folder to the folder the exe file is in
IMPORTANT add " " at the end and beginning of the target and start in paths !
AND add go to the compatability to add the proton aswell
EVEN MORE IMPORTANT : once you do it like this u cannot add the " burner " app u used to do this .( i think deleting the game u added using the burner should add it back but i cant test it cuz i already downloaded the game and it takes 1-2hrs to download ).
