Getting Dynasty Warriors 6 on PC to work correctly with Proton
How would I go about troubleshooting certain issues that I am experiencing with Proton?
I am trying to run a game called "Dynasty Warriors 6" from 2007 using Proton and Steam on Linux Mint. So far, the game runs, but it has some issues that I would like to know how to solve
1) All videos are missing, or cannot be loaded
2) When loading a level with maxed graphics, the game crashes
3) Plugging in a PlayStation controller doesn't work, and I have to use the keyboard
So far, I've tried switching around the Proton versions, but it hasn't worked changed anything.
With that in mind, how would I go about troubleshooting and fixing these issues?

Poll: Absolute best way to launch proton games
So, I'm running arch linux/cachyos, and use kde wayland as my primary desktop environment, 2x RTX 3090, NVLinked. I use KDE Wayland, which I know has a bit of a history with performance problems
Questions:
- What is your preferred way to launch steam/proton games on linux?
- What do you think is the best way to launch games installed via steam/proton?
- What's your favorite proton build? (Regular proton, proton experimental, glorious eggroll, cachyos proton, something else?)
- Have any sync preference? esync? fsync? winesync? no sync?
- Any preference on gamescope? No gamescope? Yes gamescope? Have any secret incantations for launching it?
- vkd3d or dxvk?
- And, of most interest to me right now: does anyone here launch proton games from tty, or know of a good way to do so?
I've never had much luck running gamescope/gamescope-plus in a stable way on top of KDE Wayland, but it does have a bunch of neat features I'd like to try. Which is why I am so particularly interested in peoples' experiences doing a Ctrl-Alt-F3 (or whatnot) into a tty, and starting games directly from there.

Slow steam transfer speeds
I tested this with 3 computers. 1: fedora 40 desktop with Ethernet cable. 2: windows 11 desktop with Ethernet cable. 3: fedora 40 laptop tested on Ethernet and wifi.
Mostly a fresh install of fedora 40, basically just did dnf update, put on necessary drivers, and steam.
When I use steam transfer I get really low transfer speeds and it seems like it's when the host uploading computer is the Linux one. Both fedora computers transfer slow to each other, and they send slow to windows, but windows transfers fast to the fedora computers.
My normal download speed is 400mb without transfer. Fedora transfer is around 150, windows to fedora transfer is 1000.
Is there an obvious system setting or steam setting I missed setting up fedora that causes this?

Weird Issue with WoW and Mouse Inputs on Hybrid Graphics Laptop
Hello, I am having a weird issue with with WoW and Hybrid Graphics on my laptop.
I have an all AMD laptop (680m iGPU and 7700s dGPU) it's and Asus A16 TUF FA617NT.
I installed WoW through Lutris using the battle.net launcher.
My Problem is that if I am in Hybrid graphics mode (controlled with supergfxctl) and I try to play wow using the dGPU, either through setting environment variable for DRI_PRIME=1 in the config options for Battle.net in Lutris, or chaning the GPU in WoW setting to the dGPU, whenever I click with the mouse the game stops generating frames to the monitor, until I release the mouse inputs, then frame generation proceeds as normal. Obviously this is unplayable since you have to use mouse input to move the camera. I have tried with multiple different wine versions (Proton-GE, default lutris, Wine-Staging, Proton-Experimental) and they all do the same thing.
What fixes it is to enable dGPU mux with supergfxctl, then there is none of the mouse stopping frame generation issues like that.
I would like to not have to reboot the computer each time I decide to play WoW. Other games work in Hybrid mode with the DRI_PRIME=1 env variable set, so I am wondering what is causing WoW specifically to get weird with it.
Any tips from other hybrid graphics laptop users appreciated.

CellSplit - survival 2D arcade game (an open source clone of Agar.io)
CellSplit is a multiplayer game where you play as a cell that can grow and attack other cells.
You can attack by splitting in the direction of the victim but beware that it will make you more vulnerable from other players who would like to do the same to you. There are various strategies how to survive and thrive in a hostile environment of everyone wanting to eat each other.
It is an open source clone of Agario game. The main feature is a strong support for moderation to solve the problem with teamers and griefers that plague the original game.
You can play directly in the browser or download the Linux version (also available for Windows and MacOS).
Visit the CellSplit homepage for more details. You can also join our Discord server.

FPS drops in certain games after a Linux update?
Hello, so I am currently using Nobara Liunux and I've been playing games on it for a while. I noticed after an update around a month or so ago 2 games in particular have really bad FPS drops. SF6 and Tekken 8. I don't know why, my other games work fine, however these 2 in particular have really bad FPS drops.
This doesn't happen in Windows and my PC is more than strong enough to handle almost anything. I heard it may be due to something called Splitlock protection? I'm not sure.
Operating System: Nobara Linux 40
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.0
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.7.0 Qt Version: 6.7.2
Kernel Version: 6.11.3-200.fsync.fc40.x86_64 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 8-Core Processor
Memory: 31.1 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor:
AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX
Manufacturer: ASUS

Performance with NVIDIA GPU and Hyprland
So, today I installed Hyprland, together with the MW4L Dotfiles. Looks and feels pretty amazing. However, when I was trying to play a couple of games, it felt that I have quite a bit of bad performance compared to Plasma.
Shouldn’t really be a driver issue due to me running Arch - and I heard a lot about people using Gamescope to fix performance issues. But I hardly find any write downs.
What is your experience with Hyprland and Gaming Performance? Any pointers?

Save 90% on Pizza Connection 3 on Steam. Have anyone tried the native version and is this game fun?
Save 75% on Cities: Skylines on Steam and the native version runs great on Linux
Registry editing in Bottles
Steam Deck is the system here.
So, I'm trying to registry edit a game called Buzz Lightyear of Star command to get past it's CD check, the problem is, I don't think I know the proper way to write out the pathing? To my knowledge, Bottles is contained in it's own thing and is only reading stuff from within it, so if I try to copy and past the path which in this case is /home/deck/.var/app/com.usebottles.bottles/data/bottles/bottles/Buzz-Lightyear-of-Star-command/drive_c/Program Files/Disney Interactive/Buzz Lightyear of Star Command/ data, the path starts outside of the bottle. So, where do I cut this path off to be read?
/home/deck/.var/app/com.usebottles.bottles/data/bottles/bottles/Buzz-Lightyear-of-Star-command/drive_c/Program Files/Disney Interactive/Buzz Lightyear of Star Command/data
/home/deck/.var/app/com.usebottles.bottles/data/bottles/bottles/Buzz-Lightyear-of-Star-command/drive_c/Program Files/Disney Interactive/Buzz Lightyear of Star Command
Both of the paths shown above need to be hooked into path and cd path, so would anyone be willing to format this correctly for me and explain as to why it needs to be the way it is for future reference?

Does Linux fix the massive stutter issues from the FF7 Remake port?
On Windows, the FF7 Remake port has massive stuttering issues that require you to use a mod called FFVIIHook and to make some .ini tweaks through this guide.
Does Linux eliminate the need for this at all?
