KDE broke HDR again
Just updated to 6.6 on Cachy os. HDR settings are just weird. They do not stick when applied either. We didn't need another brightness screen, we needed the luminance screen done away with. No other HDR setup does it like that. I had that figured out before either way setting luminance to 203. Now it just keeps defaulting itself back to 603 and that's WAY to bright. The new brightness screen with the K is bogus. I have to max it out to get that symbol to basically dissapear. We shouldn't be going by "when its barely visible". Our screens have set values that work when were able to input them. Anyways, as of now i cant even use HDR properly because none of the settings even stick. I'm on a 7800x3d / 9070xt if that makes a difference but this is strictly KDE not functioning as its supposed to. Damn this is almost a go back to W11 for a while bug.

Guys if anyone managed to play r.e.p.o. the cracked version tell me how he run it
I’m hosting a fully FOSS Game Night: Luanti (Minetest) ported to WebAssembly + Open Source Discord alternative
I wanted to see if I could host a gaming event using a 100% FOSS tech stack without forcing anyone to download a client.
Tonight at 8pm german time, I'm testing my self-compiled Emscripten/WASM port of Luanti. It’s running VoxeLibre and allows joining exclusive web-servers and p2p gaming via a WebTransport proxy (real UDP, virtual ipv6). We are coordinating the event on Common Ground (a decentralized, browser-based Discord alternative).
It’s a stress test for the open web stack. If you're a Linux gamer or FOSS enthusiast, I'd love your feedback on the performance.

Stream: https://www.youtube.com/@CommonGroundGamingAlliance (starts at 8:15pm)
Or just play standalone here: https://kaesual.com (supports p2p)

Minecraft: Java Edition is going to switch from OpenGL to Vulkan
Migrating to Linux after hardware upgrade - what to keep in mind?
Hi all! I work in tech but I've always used Windows. I'm currently on a computer I built around 12 years ago that is still using the mobo and processor from 12 years ago and it's really showing its age. I'm putting aside money for a basic but future-proof AM5 upgrade which will, among other things, let me install Windows 11.
However, I was thinking: what if I don't install Windows 11? What if I make the switch to Linux and stop struggling against Windows? But neither I nor any of my friends know much about it so I'm counting on your wisdom. How will this affect my gaming? I mostly care about playing fighting games on my PC (I imagine 2XKO is out of the question due to Vanguard anticheat but that's OK). What should I keep in mind? If it matters, I have a 1TB HDD, 1TB SSD and 256GB SSD. Thanks in advance.
I'm also open to distro recommendations! I don't mind having to use the command line.

I have a problem on Linux mint cinnamon
I wanted to play poppy playtime on x11, but it runs at 1 frame per 5 sec and when I switch to Wayland it works normally,
but the shift key isn't registering (it registers in browser or text editor, but not in any game)
And it's because of Wayland, but if I change to x11, I won't be able to play the game
(I have GTX 1660 super)

Hi-res mode or 3D acceleration not working on Zuma's revenge.
I’m trying to play Zuma’s Revenge on Kubuntu 25.10 and can’t get hi-res mode or 3D acceleration to work. I’ve already tried both Proton and Proton-GE. Has anyone managed to get proper hardware acceleration and hi-res working for this game on Linux.

Which distro should i use? Should i?
I’m totally new to Linux. I know a few basics, but I’m still a beginner. I’d like to try Linux (preferably KDE Plasma, ideally with its own software store like my Steam Deck has).
My main focus is gaming (especially CS2) and some basic office work like PowerPoint and Word (I know Microsoft Office isn’t officially supported).
My main concern is that I have an NVIDIA RTX 5060 Ti 16GB (Zotac, if that matters), and I’ve heard NVIDIA support on Linux can be problematic.
Here are my other specs:
i5-14600KF
ASUS Prime Z690-P
Kingston Fury 5200 MHz RAM
Latest BIOS installed
( 320hz 1080p AW2525HM )
Rn i have win 10 ltsc iot. Btw.

Issues with overwatch
Essentially everything needed to know is either in the post or in the comments- but the gist is that overwatch gets insane lag spikes to the point of crashing my entire computer at random times. Does anyone know why or what is going on?

sold my 7900xtx nitro for an 9070xt gigabyte, am I crazy?
So i have an AM4 system with a 5700x3d 32gb 3200mhz ram and a 7900xtx nitro on my living room running some version of steamOS around 3 years now - since mid 2025 i ve been using cachyOS.
I was offered 900eu to sell it - i have bought it last summer for 600. so i took the offer and bought a gigabyte 9070xt new for 700. i have a gigabyte 9070 on my other TV in the bedroom so i know that hotspot is 30c above edge in these cards and after 60% fan speed they sound like airplanes - but still the overall deal seemed great. i usually play games at 4k native - games like hogwards legacy, the last of us, days gone, RE, nier, expedition 33 etc. was it a bad move on my part?

I know this question was in this sub before, but...
in most of my games, my game runs at 1 fps per 5 sec. I have GTX 1660 super, Linux mint cinnamon
I also had a strange thing that when I played poppy playtime, it worked, but when I changed to Fullscreen the game started having the slowed down 1 fps.
Also I managed to run Bloons td6 at stable 60 fps by typing a command, that I think changes the proton version or smth
Oh, and I switched to Linux 3 or 4 days ago

OpenRGB possibly killing RAM?
I just seen this post on buildapc and this person was using Linux Mint and OpenRGB. They have stated that OpenRGB has killed their memory. And others have said there’s a very real risk of it happening.
I plan on removing the program and living with my rainbow RAM as I can’t risk losing it. The cost is simply too high.
Use OpenRGB at your own risk!

Steam games that work on Wayland don't work on X11 - am I alone?
A while ago, I noticed that some Steam games that work perfectly fine on Wayland don't even start or freeze after startup on X11; GTA V Enhanced in particular is giving me trouble, that freezes my desktop on X11 but always works flawlessly on Wayland. I mainly tested it on Gnome, but also tried Xfce (with compositor turned off) with the same result. I also tried it on both hybrid (Nvidia/AMD) mode and dGPU-only (MUX) mode, the result is always the same. There isn't a single game in my library that works on X11 but not on Wayland, it's really like Wayland works better overall - which seems odd to me, as I keep reading that people are primarily having issues with Steam games on Wayland, rarely the other way around. I feel like I'm missing something here... Also, performance on X11 tends to be better in those games that work, especially in dGPU-only mode, which is the main reason I'm interested in fixing this.
Anybody else experiencing this? I'd appreciate a fix very much. I read that people are using gamescope on X11, but that unfortunately isn't in the Debian Stable repos and I don't really want to install it manually.
My system is a laptop with Nvidia 4060 and AMD iGPU, I'm on Debian 13 (with 590 Nvidia drivers from the upstream repo, but the issue is exactly the same with the Debian-packaged 550 drivers).

Tell me how to install EZFN (Fortnite) on Linux
Hello everyone! I saw that you can install EZFN (private Fortnite server) on Linux, but I don't know how to install it on the official discord server, there are no instructions, I know how to install the ezfn Linux launcher, only there you need to build and I don't know how to install it, I've already searched half of the Internet and didn't find it. I tried to log in to windows and installed build there and transferred it to a disk with Linux, but nothing worked for a couple of minutes, it loaded and crashed

Single GPU passthrough with AMD integrated graphics possible?
I have an AMD ryzen 5 5600G with integrated graphics and 16 GB of ram. Currently on windows. Most AAA games like MW2019,BO6, RE2 and stuff like CS2, SCP secret lab and Ready or not run at ~40 to 60 FPS on Medium settings [depending on game]. idk if it's possible at all but if its please tell me how?

Would swapping a 5080 to a 9070 XT be a good idea?
I bought the 5080 back when I was using windows, great card (albeit pricey) and I've since moved over to Cachy OS and really don't see myself moving back to windows any time soon. The gaming experience has mostly been very solid, but honestly I just love the OS on the whole.
The only problem I really have is Dota 2, it's by the far the game I play the most no contest, and it's performance is not good. I get perfect performance on max settings (as you'd expect with that hardware) but every minute or so I get 5-15 seconds of hard lag spikes. I've not exhausted every avenue of fixes yet but the things I have tried don't work.
Whether or not the card is the problem for dota though, it's not necessarily the only driving force behind the card swap. Primarily, stability is my main goal, and the lower power draw is nice too. I'm past the days of needing the absolute best hardware and all the ray tracing bells and whistles. As long as I get 100+ frames at 1440 on med-high settings, I'm happy. And I can pick up a 9070 for £600 and sell my 5080 for £900-£1000 so I'd be getting a nice chunk back anyway.
What do you think is the right move here, anything I'm not considering that I should be? (Ryzen 7 9800x3d is my cpu if that's relevant)

Legends of runeterra broke after last update 😕
I was using Lutris with wine-ge-lol-8-27 to run it and it was working perfectly.
But since last week, it crashes upon launch and throws me back to the launcher.
The logs say:
wine: Call from 000000007B013AD7 to unimplemented function coremessaging.dll.DllGetActivationFactory, aborting
every time I try to launch it.
Tried installing d3dcompiler_47 and vcrun2022 with winetricks since I saw somewhere that to solve the coremessaging.dll those 2 are needed but no luck.
If anyone manages to get it up and running please let us know 🙏
