Jittery mouse movement when using gamescope on Garry's Mod in Niri
Issue: When playing most fps games on Niri window manager, gamescope with --force-grab-cursor is required to be able to look around. However, in some games, when using --force-grab-cursor, the mouse movement is weird and jittery. I am using the gamescope-git package from the AUR, and my launch options on steam are gamescope -W 1920 -H 1080 -f --force-grab-cursor -- %command%. Does anyone know a fix for this? I would prefer a fix rather than having to switch window managers, however I will swtich if there are no fixes.
Specs: Arch Linux, AMD Ryzen 5 5500, Nvidia GTX 1060 6gb, 24gbs of ram

No sound in Dead Cells on Pop! os
I am currently on pop!os and there seems to be no audio at all in Dead Cells. As a comparison I have tried Brotatoes and Stardew Valley and the sound is there.
There seems to be some answers on this problem, with various steam cummunity/reddit posts commenting on the need to delete libraries like libSDL, libopenal and libsndio. However these strategies do not work for me. Is there any other solution?

Day of Defeat (HL1) segfault
A while back I moved from Ubuntu to Mint. Under Ubuntu, DoD worked perfectly.
Now that I'm on Mint, not so much. Same hardware.
I can play a bit more than one map before it crashes to desktop. After some digging the only thing I've been able to extract from the logs is:
syslog:
kernel: hl_linux[98843]: segfault at 0 ip 00000000cb2c96d1 sp 00000000ff975c50 error 6 in client.so[cb1b9000+1df000] likely on CPU 5 (core 5, socket 0)
Running steam from the command line basically just gives me the same info when it dies.
Any suggestions? I did find an old bug report saying that the particle system is running out of memory, but I don't get the same notice they are talking about - no out of memory error in the console or logs. I do get a crash dump, but gdb can't read them (file format unrecognized) so I have no idea what to even do with that.
OS: Linux Mint 22 x86_64
Kernel: 6.8.0-78-generic
Resolution: 2560x1440, 2560x1440, 2560x1440
DE: GNOME 46.0`
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X (16) @ 3.600G

Does anyone else have this type of issue when attempting to install NFSU2 or any old NFS on Linux?
Warhammer Iii Total War freezes after launch
I just got a new NVME drive and I put my OS (Linux Mint) on it and I moved Warhammer to it to increase the loadtimes.
However whenever I get into the main menu I have a few seconds before the game freezes. Audio keeps working and I can move the mouse but everything else is frozen. Only way out is to alt+tab out and kill it in Steam.
All other games seem to work fine.
I've tried Proton version: 9, 10, Experimental, GE 10.3, GE 10.13.
CPU: Xeon 2697 V3 Ram: 128 GB GPU: Nvidia GTX 1080, driver 580.65.06
Any ideas on why this happens?

Fallout 3 suddenly minimizing window and/or crashing very frequently on Mint 22.1 using Cinnamon. I'm using steam. Any suggestions?
I'm not sure what caused it. I'm in the alien Zeta part if that helps at all. I'm using a Ryzen 3700x, 32gb ram, 2 WD Black M.2 SSDs, one for Linux, one for Windows. MSI 2060 Super 12gb, Nvidia 575 open driver through Mint's driver installer.
Steps I've taken. 1. Did a file check with Steam and all files are fine. 2. Changed from the 550 to the 575 open driver. 3. Changed to Proton Expermiental. 4. I decided to try running under Plasma instead of Cinnamon, and had better results. But still having crashes like crazy now.
I also remembered the multicore or multithread fix, and that helped a little bit. But everything was fine until this week. An occasional crash, but nothing life changing. Secure boot is turned off if that helps.
Actually, I did get internet this week. I was using my phone to tether everything until very recently. I signed on with Verizon for home internet ($35/month for 3 years LOCKED RATE!!), but that shouldn't affect Fallout.

Non steam games not launching.
So I finally made the switch to the penguin, and I'm using bazzite os. When I try to play non steam games through steam they just load for a couple of seconds and then they just don't launch. I imported them into steam and forced them to launch with proton, and nothing happened. Any one got any ideas? And also when I try and play some games I get this message "choose a wineprefix to run (the game)" Does anyone know how to do it?

Is there a decent GUI-based solution for limiting the FPS in games? (Fedora/GNOME under Wayland)
I have a 144Hz display and my RTX 2080 is starting to show its age. I have games installed via a number of different ways. A lot of them native Linux games from Steam/GOG, a lot of them via Proton.
On Windows I'm used to just going to the NVIDIA Control Panel and being able to set the exact frame rate I want on a game-by-game basis. Is there anything similar like this on Linux? For what it's worth I'm on Fedora 42/GNOME 48 under Wayland.

May have just struck paydirt. I found a voicechanger app similar to voicemod that works through WINE
It's called voicewave, and I'm currently running it in bottles via the soda runner. I know that from me switching from windows I kinda missed Voicemod, and couldn't get it to install in any WINE runner I tried. But this. Just. Worked
Granted, I had to hunt for the exe in the bottle to add a shortcut, and the window is buggy if moved about in labwc (gamescope might fix that) but one issue I can see being bypassed easily is that the driver for using the voice in discord and whatnot doesn't install, but I think if you were to setup a virtual output and pipe that output into a virtual input you could get around it. Though you'd need to keep "hear myself" turned on.
I'll leave a link here if anyone wants to reproduce what I did: https://multimedia.easeus.com/ Haven't tested if the upgrade functionality works or not, but considering the browser opens fine upon install (if you have xdg portals working) it should

Perma Banned for launching CoD: Black Ops Cold War Under Linux
This happened a bit ago but there still hasn't been any solution. I bought this game on launch but switched to linux about a year ago. All I did was launch the game and I was met with this ban. I submit an appeal and have contacted activision multiple times since, but they have very strongly refused to do anything about it. I have lost hundreds of hours, way too much money than I would care to admit, and all for what? I just wanted to see if the game could run. How should I have knows that this would happen? Many people have said, oh why didn't you check protonDB or areweanticheat? I didn't check that because they hadn't had an update in a long time. They only way those can update is if people (like me) test it. Anyway, I don't expect any of you to be able to do anything about this, but I feel it's important that people know what's going on.This happened a bit ago but there still hasn't been any solution. I want to switch to a Linux dual boot, and had pop os suggested for me, good idea or are there better options?
Been wanting to do this for a while, ever since I saw how the steam deck handled Linux gaming while also having a good desktop mode
I'm running an Nvidia card, RTX 3080, and I'm not programmer or power user, I just want to get out of the Microsoft ecosystem
So I'll need a simple to use, difficult to break os, that works with my card and proton, that won't need major tweaking to work
Does pop os cover that or are there better options?

Is there a way I can enable NVIDIA G-Sync on Fedora/GNOME (under Wayland)?
My dumb ass just realized that I have a FreeSync monitor compatible with NVIDIA GPU's G-Sync features, and I'm sure being able to take some of the load off the GPU and put it on my monitor would help.
I know there's a setting in dconf editor that enables a VRR option. Is it as easy as that?
