Steam Library Migration
Greetings all!
I’ve just installed Kubuntu on a separate SSD on my PC, which has been running Windows 10 for years. I’m now dual-booting between the two.
I saw several videos suggesting that it’s possible to install Linux and simply point the Linux version of Steam to an existing game library on another drive. I tried this by linking my Linux Steam installation to the HDD where my Windows Steam library is stored. However, I’m not satisfied with the results — some games like Cyberpunk 2077 and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain do load, but the frame rate and graphics performance are terrible, practically a slideshow.
I suspect this might have something to do with my graphics drivers, but since this is my first time using Linux, I’m not entirely sure how to proceed. Any advice would be deeply appreciated!
System Specs:
Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (dual-boot with Kubuntu)
Processor: 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-11700K @ 3.60GHz (16 CPUs, ~3.6GHz)
Memory: 32 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti
DirectX Version: 12
Storage Setup:
128 GB SSD – Windows 10
1 TB SSD – Kubuntu
6 TB HDD – Steam Library & RetroArch

First time using Linux, cant get mods to load
Hey guys. Recently bought a new pc. Took the nvme with my games from my old windows pc and put it into my new pc. Steam didnt really start the games on my old drive, with some help from chatgpt I added some pointers on a local drive and got the games to start, but i never was able to make the mods load. Pc gaming without mods is for me a no go so i just went back to windows. That was half a year ago. Now win10 is pretty much eol, so i gotta think about what to do. I stilm have dual boot activated and can load up my linux. Does anyone know why my mods didnt load? Do i have to format my drive and reinstall all games and then it works? Or do mods and mod loaders just not work with linux? Tried tales of berseria, monster hunter world and code vein for example

Box64 0.3.8 Brings DynaCache and Faster Game Loading on Linux
The latest Box64 0.3.8 release focuses squarely on performance and compatibility. The headline feature, DynaCache, introduces a disk-based cache for native code generation that dramatically cuts program load times and reduces runtime hiccups—especially noticeable in titles like Factorio on Linux.

New Steam Games Playable on the Steam Deck, with Absolum - 2025-10-11 Edition
Deadfall Adventures (2013) - PC Gameplay / High Setting / Intel Tiger Lake GT2 / Linux
Painkiller Hell & Damnation (2012) - PC Gameplay / High Setting / Intel Tiger Lake GT2 / Linux
TimeShift (2007) - PC Gameplay / High Setting / Intel Tiger Lake GT2 / Linux
Please help me get started with Linux gaming setup
Hi guys!
My laptop model is HP Victus 15-fb0xxx. It's promoted as a gaming laptop.
I'm a long time Linux user. I have Pop_OS! as my main daily OS. (Windows 10 is partially installed afterwards with dual booting which I never use unless necessary. Also running windows really heats up my system for whatever reason.)
More than a couple months ago, I downloaded Lutris and tried to run Dark Souls (which I got from pirated site fitgirl-something). And the game ran, laptop fans ran pretty fast, and the graphics was very bad. Pixelated, blurry, and slow animations. I'm not sure what was wrong. And I dropped my wish of gaming yet again.
Please help me set something up so I can play hardcore games like Dark Souls and others!
Thanks for any responses!

If i made you smile today, please wishlist now on steam to support me, it is really a lot support for me. Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3896300/Toll_Booth_Simulator_Schedule_of_Chaos/
About the game: You tried to escape prison but got caught. Instead of prison, they gave you a debt. Manage a toll booth on a desert highway. Check passports, take payments, and decide who passes. Grow fruit, mix cocktails, sell drinks, and dodge the cops. The only way to earn freedom is by paying off your debt.

Workspace + Gaming is possible in Linux?
Since i started my college i have been bombed with Linux. For 1 year and a half i tried multiple Linux distros, but unfortunally put windows again. The thing is, for Gaming is ok, cause i play most competitive games, but for work, damn. I want really to have a usable (and optimized) workspace but i want really play my games. What you say?

Suggestion for new distro for gaming?
I have been using LinuxMint for years on both my desktop and laptop and am really happy with it.
However, I want to do a full reinstall of my desktop.
The main reason is the dependence on Ubuntu repositories. Yes, there is LMDE and I would really love to see it as the main option for LinuxMint. Enough of this rant!
Yes, I could install Debian. As of 13th October 2025 its latest kernel is 6.12.x and Linux Mint is on 6.8.x.
While I haven't had a lot of time for gaming lately I still like to do it every now and again and intend to get a RX 9070XT in the near future. A while ago, I posted a question on r/linux_gaming and people suggested to use kernel 6.15+ for better support of that GPU.
While highly personal, my question is - what would be a stable enough distribution geared towards gaming that supports the intended GPU (and my current RX 6700XT!)?
Many thanks!

Battle net agent stuck, attempting to wake up and also stuck at 45% downloading while fresh installing
Like what the title says, its stuck one way or the other.
I have played WoW etc via steam and it worked perfectly, but after a recent install of a new router battle net wont let me play WoW etc. I have tried many proton versions, tried disabling firewall settings (flood detection), enabling UPnP, you name it and i tried it pretty much all of them. (enabling and disabling IPv4/6)
But as soon if I hook up my mobile phone on a hotspot via my external Wifi USB then it all of a sudden works. I'm completely lost. I have compared my old router settings with my new router and there is no difference, only the fact I can change my flood detection with my old router. But I turned off flood detection with my new router and it doesn't work. I am on Debian 13 with a brand new AMD build. Ohh and I also tried it via Lutris, but I get the same problems.
So if there is any IT guru out there or someone with the same problem and somehow fixed it, please let me know :)
PS: English is not my native language, so if I messed up some spelling please forgive me and have a stroopwaffle

Meet RFIDisk, a physical Game Launcher using RFID-Enabled 3d printed floppy disks
Hi! I'm currently developing this project! While it is 99% useless, i think it is 100% awesome! I was inspired by similar projects for other hardware (namely MiSTer FPGA, IIRC). It is in working state, at least in my setup. There is in-depth documentation in the github repo. There is also a link for the 3D Model files. Enjoy!
https://github.com/ItsDanik/rfidisk
Hardware- A microcontroller device (Arduino), attached to an RFID reader module and an OLED display module, connected to the host machine via USB. It has its own 3D printed case design, resembling an external floppy disk drive.
- 3D Printed "Floppies" (they're not really floppy), with the RFID tag embedded in the print (invisible). Real floppies can be used instead, if you have an abundance of faulty ones.
- The software is again a combination of two pieces of software:
- One running on the arduino (we'll call it firmware).
- The other one running on the host machine (Linux PC).
- The two applications talk between them via Serial USB.
- rfidisk-manager.py is a basic GUI for managing Tag entris.
- Each RFID tag inside the disk corresponds to a command (e.g. steam steam://rungameid/12345).
- When a disk is inserted in the drive, the Arduino firmware identifies it and notifies the host.
- The Python service looks up the tag’s command in rfidisk_config.json and launches it.
- A notification is shown on the host machine.
- The OLED display updates in real time, showing metadata of the disk (user-configurable).
- When the disk is removed from the reader, the application is automatically terminated.
This mode of operation closely resembles a cartridge-based game console system, only you don't have to reboot :)

Help! Nothing working on Linux
I am having issues. I installed Linux on my Lenovo LOQ 15 laptop, and after downloading Trailmakers, Stormworks, and Scrap Mechanic, none of them would work. They were incredibly slow and had to be force-quit through Steam. I have tried various online sources for help, and nothing has worked. I'm particularly in dire need because this laptop is brand new, only a month old at best, and I seem to be unable to return to Windows 11, which I know worked with my games before Linux was installed.

Need advice on Arch-based distros
Going to start building my new PC soon and I was thinking that it is now a good opportunity to jump off of Windows and into Linux. I have never had a Linux distro as a daily driver before, but I am really interested in jumping into a Arch-based distro. I am comfortable with working with the command line and digging through documentation, which is part of why I feel a little confident going into something Arch based as a first distro.
From what I have looked into so far, EndeavourOS and CachyOS seem like good options. Though, I am having trouble picking between the two. In terms of my use case: I am looking for something that will work for both gaming and productivity (software development specifically). I understand that Cachy is well optimized (for gaming?), but do these optimizations also play nice with productivity related workflows? Also, I am wondering what Endeavour brings to the table in comparison to Cachy.
The other thing I am wanting to know about is the experience of dealing with breakages due to the rolling updates. Is this just something that gets easier to deal with over time as one experiences it? Just curious to hear from those who have experience with this.
