Cannot save in Dragon's Dogma 2
Hi there everyone.
I'm running Dragon's Dogma 2 on my laptop successfully with my RTX 4080 mobile card, and with Proton Experimental it seems that I can enable the Frame Gen with no issues.
Something strange happens though: I cannot save. Whenever an automatic or a manual save happens, I can see a circle on the right top corner of the screen spinning forever. After many minutes, I get an error that says something like it was impossible to save.
Library and save files are in a Btrfs file system, mounted on Bluefin (GNOME). I have also tried to run sudo chmod 777 on the save folder, just to be sure, but didn't solve. Game can run fine on Windows, just to double check.
Am I the only one having this kind of potential issue? Is there anything that I can do?
Thanks

Valheim on CachyOS Crashes
Does anyone use CachyOS, or just Arch in general, and have Valheim working? I have tried about a dozen different versions of Proton and every time it crashes right after the main title loading screen.
Anyone have any pointers on getting this game going? I have been able to get every (and there have been many) game to work that I want to play so far except this one for some reason.
Using KDE Plasma latest release with an Nvidia 3060ti GPU. Tried both X11 and Wayland.

Diagnosing bad performance on new hardware
Hi folks, I recently picked up a Minisforum UM350 for a HTPC / emulation box / Sunshine client on my 4K tv and installed Linux Mint on it but the performance has been just awful. I mainly wanted to use Dolphin but can't even get 100% speed at native res.
The hardware is a Ryzen 5 3550H with Vega 8 graphics which based on this mini PC guide spreadsheet should be able to run Dolphin upscaled. Aside from Dolphin, I can't even emulate SNES through Retroarch with shaders at full speed. Vulkan seems set up right as far as I can tell and radeontop shows like 80%ish percent GPU utilization when running games.
I'm curious what you would do in this situation where the hardware seems to be severely bottlenecked somewhere. Is there a troubleshooting process? Would you hop distros / try Windows? Am I overestimating the hardware and misunderstanding this CPU?
I also wonder if Cinnamon desktop has something to do with it because Dolphin takes a performance hit when going fullscreen without changing the rednering resolution, which makes no sense.

The game called 'I Am Your Beast' works perfectly in my box. Thanks to WineHQ and DXVK.
Am I the only one having these bugs on Halo: Master Chief Collection?
Hello bois!
As the title says, I tried running Halo MCC on Linux (specifically on Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon) and the CE anniversary works normally and Halo 3 and others work completely fine, but as soon as I try to play Halo 2 Anniversary this happens:
This is somehow \"fixed\" by disable anti aliasing (makes it look a bit poopy but meh)
This is somehow "fixed" by disable anti aliasing (makes it look a bit poopy but meh)
However, the big problem comes now:
I installed AlphaRing to be able to play split-screen with a friend that is coming over today,
When it's enabled this happens!
Absolutely awful, has anyone experienced this? I heard that people on AMD GPUs are doing okay but currently stuck with a Nvidia GTX 1660 Super so not much luck...
"Classic" Graphics work but I really fancy the Anniversary graphics for 2:
Any ideas? Cheers!

Marvel Rivals still freezing even after using GE-Proton9-22
I even started deleting my shaders daily to see if that would resolve things but still no luck. I'm on Linux Mint. Has anyone been able to resolve Rivals from freezing?

Loving Linux but a couple minor issues I would like to hash out yet.
I ditched Windows completely on Boxing Day for Linux (PopOS) Having no prior experience with Linux in any shape or form I am really enjoying it. For the most part everything just works with minimal input from me. I have 2 problems I can't seem to figure out and have been looking for solutions so I figured I would put it out there and see if any of you guys have had either of these problems.
PC - Asus Crossahair 670E Hero AM5, 7800x3d, 32 GB 6000 Ram (2x16) 3090 GPU, PopOS
#1 5.1 Audio - I have 5.1 speakers hooked to my onboard sound Card (Audio Codec ALC4082) through speaker jacks and when I run the speaker test for all the channels it all works but in any game or media all I get it 2 channel audio. I checked all the levels and whatnot in Alsamixer through the terminal and it seems fine. 5.1 worked fine in Windows 10.
#2 I'm using OpenRGB to control the lighting in my PC and even though I have all Corsair stuff it actually controls it pretty well. Upon installing it and loading it for the first time it went through it's scan and kicked back this message...
Some internal devices may not be detected
One or more I2C or SMBus interfaces failed to initialize.
RGB DRAM modules, some motherboard onboard RGB lighting and RGB Graphics Cards will not be available without I2C or SMBus.
How to fix this:
On linux, this is usually because the I2C-dev module is not loaded. You must load the i2c-dev module along with the correct I2C driver for your motherboard. This is usually i2c-piix4 for AMD systems and i2c-i801 for Intel systems.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated as I am a noob to Linux and am just learning my way around the terminal and what. Other than these couple issues, good riddance to Windows.

Is linux viable for streaming? + steam questions.
I'm a small streamer and i'd like to get some extra performance out of games I play, I'm not the most familiar with linux, I used to use mint when I had a PC on life support. I intend to install mint onto a secondary drive. how good is linux with OBS? can i expect a performance boost over windows 10?
and will I have to reinstall steam games specifically for linux? or can i just import it from my main drive?

Comparing Linux vs Windows in Fighting games - faster shader compilation, less stutters on Linux
Extreme lags in CS2
Ingame stats show network jitter at 120ms sometimes, I don't have those issues on windows. Internet connection is more than fine, low latency and high bandwidth. I never really could get cs2 to work fine under my system. Any help?
Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon
kernel 6.8.0-51
Intel i7-12700kf

Garry's Mod - G64 (running without Proton/Wine) help needed!
Not fully sure if this tag fits btw
So I use Linux Mint 22, recently updated. The G64 addon is a Garry's Mod addon that lets you play as Mario with accurate Super Mario 64 controls based on actual source code and using an actual ROM (provided by player) for assets. I'm on the x86-64 branch of Gmod with GModCEFCodecFix. The G64 addon page says "Please note that you will have to install the G64 binary module / libsm64, be on the 64-bit branch of Gmod, and that this will only work on Windows at the moment.", but I'm not just gonna use Wine/Proton or switch to a different branch unless there's no other options.

Forza Horizon 5 on steam. How to manage convoy ?
So I've bought a second license of FH5 for my son an I to play together (we were sharing the first through steam family). Spent 1 h and a half trying to figure this out... His steam account is linked to his xbox account same for me and we are friends on both platform. He is on windows and I am on Arch. I tried the phone thing and through the browser but seems like it works only if you bought the game through gamepass or the xbox store. I tried installing the xbox app through Lutris but cannot even log in and I doubt it would work ?
How can I achieve this ? When he invite me to his convoy I don't see it anywhere and I just can't invite him.

New to Linux and Helldivers. Can't get the mouse to lock to the game. Running 6700xt on EndeavorOS. Also my Sennheiser Bluetooth headphones work, except for the mic. Any idea if there are settings that I need to change for that?

GPU overclocking is almost a necessary to get stable performances
I though about my early experience on Linux and i didn't understand why i got so many stutter or FPS drops. I'm playing The Witcher 3 for now and everybody is aware about bad is Dx12 version of the game. Since i follow the OC guide from CachyOS (i'm in this distro), my fps are more stable and it make less up and down hardly.
Hopefully because i knew the right value for my GPU because i was using MSI Afterburner on Windows to get these. I'm not going under ~95 FPS and mostly over 100 FPS. It might be help because it's an Nvidia GPU (RTX 4070Ti) and AMD GPU doesn't need about this manipulation.

Help me choose
I am planning on buying a new laptop for gaming. The victus is all AMD which should be more compatible with linux, however, r/victus is an absolute dumpster fire of broken hinges and backlight bleed. Will the Lenovo be more durable /reliable?
Is nvidia on linux at a point where I can even consider getting the Lenovo instead?
