I've been able to play The Sims 4 for several years with my current graphics card (an MSI R9 270 w/ 2GB VRAM). It hasn't been the best performance, but the graphics card only cost me like $85 so I think it's been worth it.

I run the game thru Steam/proton.

Well, I haven't played the game in about a year, but last night I tried to play again. Steam automatically updated it to the latest version. When I tried to launch the game, however, I got a new message I haven't gotten before.

Unable to start:

Can't run The Sims 4 with the video card in this system. Please check that the video card meets the minimum specifications and that the latest video drivers are installed.

I know my graphics card is pretty old. But it previously worked just fine. Now it won't even let the game start.

Has anybody else had an issue like this?

I currently use a Sennheiser GSP 370 wireless headset for my desktop that's running Windows. I've been daily driving Arch on my laptop for a couple months now and I want to switch my desktop to it.

I'm wondering if there is an alternative software for this headset or if the headset will work on Linux without any software. If anyone else is using a Sennheiser headset or have any ideas can you let me know!

I'm here trying to help a friend. He's been on linux for about a year now, but he's bad with computers and bad with english. Still, he does feel like it's a better option even with the hurdles. I try to help him when I can.

That's the result for clinfo on his terminal. Only that. There's no mention of vulkan or mesa. He's on Kubuntu 24.04.2, with a ryzen 7 5700x and a radeon 7900 xt on 32gb of ram and keeps complaining that his games have been stuttering a lot (and monster hunter wilds specially keeps showing the memory error on boot, and crashing later during play.) I always felt like it was the gamer syndrome, but alas, looks like it's drivers.

How can we fix this? How can we make his gpu use Mesa and see if at least that helps him?

If you downloaded the game using alternative methods and are having problems with the game crashing or the character models being black on the selection screen, change the system language of the game to Japanese.

I just bought the AC Ultimate Edition a few days ago

• Downloaded the latest Proton GE (9-26)
• Deleted the Wine Prefix Folder
• Changed the Steam Compatibility settings for both AC and General Steam settings

Not running Content Manager or anything, I just want to play the base game for now, so I'm fairly sure I should be good to go. It's been a few hours that the game has been stuck on the "Launching" screen on Steam- I wanted to check if this was normal and if I should just keep being patient.

Running Linux Mint, the picture is my neofetch with my system settings & hardware. I'm pretty new to linux so I might have missed a step. Thanks for your help!

Hoping you guys can help me as I didn't get any responses on the Arch subreddit.

Over the last week or two I've been having issues with Steam freezing up my entire PC when trying to launch it. Literally just clicking the icon on the taskbar. This only happens occasionally, sometimes it opens right up without issue and then randomly I'll run into it. The freeze will last for maybe 10-15 seconds, then everything clicked or interacted with during the freeze will rapidly catch back up at once.

I'm currently running Arch and I've seen this on both the stock kernel and the CachyOS kernel. I'll attach a fastfetch down below for specs, and I have two separate logs I tried to pull when this has happened, but I'm still a bit of a Linux newbie and having a hard time making heads or tails of what's going on. If anyone has any similar experiences or would be awesome enough to offer any advice, I'd super greatly appreciate it.

I have a 9800x3d cpu, asus rog strix x870 mobo, and a 9070xt gpu, and disabling the integrated graphics makes my computer stay on a black screen, this behavior is specific to Linux (arch linux btw), running windows gives me proper video, and yes, my monitors are plugged to my gpu

Hey all! I have been recently having issues ever since I switched to fedora launching Trackmania. I have tried:

1. Steam
2. Ubi Connect
3. Lutris

All crash with the same error:

Corrupted installation.
Please verify files integrity or reinstall the game.

Both of which I have done at least twice on each launcher.

Edit 1: For specific system information, I am on Fedora KDE 43 (BETA), and yes I know it's a beta, however I don't think that would break Trackmania.

Hello everyone,

Does anyone here have a relatively painlessly installable and usable VPN app for Linux? I'm on Solus, but I wouldn't mind switching to Mint or something else for it.

Usually I use Windows for my multiplayer gaming, as I also rely heavily on Parsec and my friend is on Windows, but I have recently been traveling a lot for business and have only my Linux-only laptop with me and we would like to play some games like Silverfall or Dungeon Siege 1&2.

On Windows I have used ZeroTier and Hamachi, but it seems both are not really that easy to install. I'm a longtime Linux User but I still do not use the CLI on a daily basis.

So any recommendations? Of course, intercompatibility is important between Linux and Windows. Thanks in advance!

Since this post is outdated. I just wanted to find other kinds of solutions to play on it.

I get it, there is sober, but it won't work until April 4th or 5th. Waydroid, complicated.

Roblox has cut off access to Wine, and again, because of exploiters or "script kiddies" actually disguising themselves as using Wine on Linux. I got this via this page btw.

But Let me ask you a question: Have you tried any other possible way to run roblox? Such as Bottles (Which is the main concern here), Wine, Darling, Sober, Winegar, or any other possible way like Virtual Machines or something like that.

But really, I need a specific advice to run on it.

And for a continuous warning: Read before writing, and read what you wrote, otherwise it's ignored and I might make fun of you for it. A warning to you all.

But what is the issue here?

I am trying to find other possible solutions while Sober is down. Tried Darling but it was tedious and most likely costed my storage specs to be ran by 5 gigs of space with that. What I did was to find and research the possibilities of how to run Roblox client.

Linux Mint Cinnamon Edition Version 22.1 (Latest) (If you are a person from the future then this might be a different Linux Mint version, consider this as a past reference).

Troubleshooting wasn't exactly the only way to do so, however, testing is required for a reason. I am will be testing out in bottles in case of a possible advice and the solution that might help me out.

So I was not happy with Heroic and Lutris etc so decided to build my own wine launcher with integrated IGDB support.

Does anyone here use Intel CPUs for Linux gaming? I have a 5600x and some games are struggling at 1080p and I am interested in moving to ddr5 and thinking of trying Intel. I have used AMD CPUs for my entire PC gaming life which has been 10 years or so. I am hearing the 13th and 14th gen run really hot so I wonder if the core ultra series are good for Linux gaming or if they still need to mature first.
