All my Unity games stopped working

16. August 2025 - 10:19

Everything was fine yesterday and today I wanted to play some Gunbot and was greeted by this error. It's the same error for each Unity game, just a logo changes from game to game. Help please!

Since I was developing a co-op Paddle game, THIS WAS A MUST.

16. August 2025 - 10:08

I decided to create a Physics based chaotic co-op paddle game called Paddle Together.

Since I had this opportunity to "Aura Farm" I had to take it.

I just announced the Steam page and now the game looks even better (this was an old footage).

If you want to check it out:

Hope you guys liked it!

Should I swap from Win gaming to Linux? Is it stable?

16. August 2025 - 09:07

I use Windows for gaming PC, and basic everyday main stuff like emails, browsing internet, spreadsheets, viewing images. I'm currently installing new PC hardware and need a fresh Win install (change from Intel to AMD).

However, I'm toying with using Linux instead of Windows. I've used Linux for 30+ years, and use it on my developer PC, but PC gaming I've always used Windows (tried Wine years ago, sucked etc). I do love Linux a lot and would rather use it if games are truly sorted.

Windows has it's problems/niggles, but for the most part games just work. Is Linux the same now? Is Linux really that stable for gaming? I don't want to install Linux and set everything up to find lots of problems and then have to install Windows as this PC is 90% for gaming.

I read the only niggle games are with anti cheat, the only one I play that has that is CS2, now and then, but it sounds like that's fine? I imagine most offline AAA will be sorted as money is a driving factor?

Should I go with Linux? I know this is a subreddit that will want me to (lol) but any objective feedback?

I've spent countless hours reading reddits, other sites, and YT videos on the matter and there seems to be a LOT of problems reported. People fighting with getting games working.

I read the ProtonDB pages to see what games work and what don't but it's only a guide. Many people report problems when Proton say it should work.

Am I the only one who can’t launch r6s?

16. August 2025 - 08:54

I know kernel level anticheat is gonna be an issue, and i have no surprises on r6s not launching whatsoever. But after some googling, i found out that some could launch the game, just not playing multiplayer. And that confuses me. Do people already have the ability to launch the game but not playing multiplayer? Or is it something in the past, it could not be launched now?

I have also heard of “different versions” of proton, which apparently a certain proton could let you launch certain games? How can i efficiently find which proton should i use, or determine if its possible at all?

Now its just an untangled mess in my brain.

I also couldn’t launch trackmania, which is also from ubisoft, so it might be a similar issue as r6s? The specific error message from r6s is something like “createMapping2.dll is missing”. Again i tried googling and searching forums, and couldnt find relevant hits.

Any help is appreciated!

anyone with experience installing viva new vegas?

16. August 2025 - 08:36

trying to install the viva new vegas mod setup on my linux box, and while normally im pretty handy with computers i feel a little lost as the unofficial linux guide steps seem to either omit information or are otherwise unclear. for example it suggests to add the fixed ESMs installer to mod organizer and run it through that which i did and that.. seems to have worked? but that mod requires YUP and it doesnt mention that anywhere. it says to double check that everything is working "once im done" and im not sure if that means just with the linux specific steps or with the whole thing.. launching the game does still work and seems stable but animations and lipsync are sped up a bunch and tweaks menu as well as the mods option at the top of the pause menu are missing, and im not sure if thats because ive messed something up or the guide means to check these things after im done the whole process.

sorry, i just feel lost and cant find anymore information to this process then whats there

Any specific CS2 optimizations for Linux?

16. August 2025 - 08:22

Like on Windows you go to Mouse settings turn off Advanced pointer precision, and stuff like that. On Linux, are there any specific optimizations or settings to play CS2 competitively at the optimal level? Wayland or X11 matters? DE Matters? How to get the lowest input latency possible? I am using Arch on KDE Wayland with Nvidia

No option for hardware metrics in the new steam performance overlay.

16. August 2025 - 06:33

I would be interested to see things like gpu and cpu temp. The dropdown in steam only has two options: FPS single value and FPS detail. My gf's win11 version shows a few more options that I don't have. Is this a setting somewhere, or is it just not supported on my system?

OS: Pop!_OS 22.04

cpu: 7800x3d

gpu: 7900xt

MB: msi B650

The Finals: A forbidden operating system configuration was detected. Error code TFAV3015

16. August 2025 - 05:47

After The Finals update from yesterday, Linux users (SteamOS/ArchLinux, Ubunto, Cachy OS, and Nobara at least) are getting the following error before being kicked from the game.

A forbidden operating system configuration was detected.

Error code TFAV3015

A ticket has been submitted with Embark Support and hopefully this will be fixed.

CS2 does not launch in full screen anymore

16. August 2025 - 05:05

I'm having issues with CS2 last patch. The game doesn't start in full screen anymore, if I go in the options to set to full screen it "works" but I can't select my ultrawide screen resolution, it only goes up to 2560*1440, my screen is 5120*1440. I tried to set the resolution and -fullscreen option but that didn't help.

I can't seem to get the game launching at all with gamescope.

Anyone has similar issue ?

  • NixOS unstable,
  • gnome 48,
  • mesa git (tried 25.2.0, same issue),
  • kernel 6.16.0 (both from repo and cachy kernel)
  • RX 9070 XT
  • Ryzen 9700X

Is it true we can get 4k 120hz VRR with this cable?

16. August 2025 - 04:33

I have read people saying yes, others now, some say it needs a sort of downgrade... Any idea? My bran new OLED TV will arrive next week and I would love to play 4k 120hz on it using Bazzite! Windows couch experience keeps being a mess

Mangohud won't work completely on SteamOS in game mode but it does on Desktop Mode

16. August 2025 - 02:23

Hi. Lately I've been trying to get a full custom overlay setup on Mangohud. My custom config only works fully in desktop mode on SteamOS on my Legion Go S. In game mode it just shows my GPU/CPU usage and the FPS and that's it. On desktop mode it shows everything that I setup.

I put this in my launch options

"mangohud %command%"

I'd like to get it to show up in game mode with all my stats so I can record gameplay off the SteamOS recorder.

Thanks

How do you avoid redundant runtimes?

16. August 2025 - 00:28

Steam and Bottles use separate runtimes based on wine. If I install both, I will have redundant Proton packages installed on my PC because they aren't shared.

I need Steam to install Steam games. But I also have games from other sources, including free games (fan games), and they need Bottles. I use Heroic to download games from Epic and GOG and run them in Bottles.

Half of the games from Epic have compatibility issues, but GOG usually works, including games whose the Epic version doesn't. Maybe the reason is that GOG games are clean and free from DRM. Steam provides a compatibility layer to avoid problems. But games from Epic are tricky and require lucky.

What do you do to play both games from Steam and games from other sources?
