Discord screenshare screen tearing
If this is the wrong place to ask please let me know, but I recently heard that discord Linux finally got screen sharing with audio working, and decided to try it out. I switched to Ubuntu 25.04 but whenever I try to screenshare with discord it glitches out really bad with awful screen tearing wherever the pixels change (static parts of the screenshare are unaffected) and at some point audio just stops working. I haven't found anyone else with this issue and Vesktop doesn't change it at all. If any more info is needed I'll update this post but I can't take a recording of it at the moment.

Is it possible to play ZZZ on linux?
I'm writing this using Google Translate, so please excuse me if my English is wrong.
I'd like to ask a question. Is it possible to play ZZZ on Linux? Can I run the risk of losing my account?
I want to start using Linux, and the only thing stopping me is ZZZ.

How to get Elite Dangerous to work with my HOTAS setup?
So, I want to play Elite Dangerous on Pop OS. Easy enough. The game runs.
The issue is getting it to see my HOTAS/Flight sim setup. I have CH Rudder pedals, and a CH throttle, and stick.
I managed to somehow get my pedals and stick working, sorta, but my throttle is driving me mad.
For stick and rudder pedals, it matters less as the stick has analogue trim settings and the rudder pedals are perfectly true.
But my throttle isn’t. Without configuration zero throttle reads as 10% roughly and full reads as 97%. Plus the thumb stock has a bit of drift and so needs a dead zone. With the CH manager this is really easy to deal with. But since elite only reads raw inputs, no amount of configuration at any level seems to work.
I tried running CH manager through bottles. No luck. CH manager runs, but it won't detect my CH controllers
I tried running AntMicroX, but these seems to be aimed more at traditional gaming controllers. It won't see my rudder pedals at all, and while it does see my other stuff, it does not allow me to do calibration settings (Options>Calibration) for axis; it simply does not see them.
What do I do now? Does anyone have any suggestions to get this to work? All I want is for my controllers to work. That's really it.
I really wanted to try out linux gaming, but I really am not willing to give up my flight sim setup that I have enjoyed for years.

Frustrating Doom the Dark Ages does not run on Linux
I don't know why or how but THE ONLY FUCKING GAME that i wanted to play all year doesn't fucking work on linux....crashes on startup up. They can get it fixed as shown by the Steam Deck but there is fuck all for how to make it happen (kinda wish valve would let us know how they fixed it in steamOS). I think i might just go scorched earth and go back to windows for the time.

League of Legends on Linux on VMs - success with Vanguard?
Has anyone had any success dealing with Vanguard on a VM, be it Windows or macOS?
I want to move back to Linux but I play League/TFT regularly and it's one of the main reasons why I'm not moving back and wanted to know if anyone's had success playing it on Linux via a VM lately (with GPU passthrough and all).

Mouse Bug
This problem is most obvious in Minecraft, when I'm turning and open my inventory, instead of spawning in the center of the inventory the mouse spawns far away, is there any way I can fix this issue, its really annoying when I'm in fights.

Having a weird problem with xivlauncher
So I'm running my FFXIV through XIVLauncher. I don't know why, but whenever I click around on my screen I'm getting micro stutters. It can happen anywhere in the game. Here's even the intro screen. It might not be super noticeable but you can see the screen make a micro movement whenever I click. It's causing me to have issues when playing in dungeons and raids and I can't figure out what to do about it. I've tried fixing wine settings. I've tried fixing the settings in app. I'm running out of ideas.

Multi-boot USB with 49 Live-ISOs & Retro CRT Theme
Hey everyone!
I’ve assembled a multi-boot USB drive containing 49 live-ISO images (≈184.2 GiB) across Desktop Linux, Enterprise Linux, Handheld Linux, Security & Pentesting, Storage Appliances, Utilities, and Windows (only unbloated tiny) categories. It’s hosted on a Samsung Fit 256 GB flash drive that delivers up to 400 MB/s sequential read speeds for rapid ISO launches.
I began with the CRT-Amber-GRUB-Theme and redrew over 100 category icons at 64×64 px to capture that amber-phosphor glow. The default unicode.pf2 font has been replaced with the theme’s fixedsys-regular-32.pf2, ensuring every menu tip renders in the same crisp bitmap style.
Under each ISO entry I added a concise menu tip describing the image’s purpose and desktop environment, all in that patched bitmap font to maintain the retro aesthetic.
Feel free to explore the full setup on GitHub and let me know what you think!

Valve Announces new SteamOS Compatibility rating system
Linux newbie - Question about modding games on Linux Mint
I'm planning on getting a new computer soon and I want to use Linux Mint on it instead of Widnows. However I've never used Linux before so I'm not familiar with how it works.
From what I've researched gaming is fine on Linux, I've checked on Proton DB if my games work with Linux and they do, so that's great. I was wondering whether modding a game is fine on Linux or not.
To be clear, I'm mostly modding singleplayer games and occasionally I play modded multiplayer party games (like Among Us, Lethal Company, REPO) with friends, but I never mod competitive multiplayer games.
My questions are:
- Is it even possible to mod games on Linux (I'm assuming yes but I still want to ask to be sure)
- Some games that I mod don't require a mod manager or a different launcher, you just simply put the mod files in a override file in the game folder (e.g Baldurs Gate 1). Will this work on Linux?
- Some games use a similar method but also require a program to launch with mods. This launces automatically when starting through Steam (e.g Stardew Valley with SMAPI). Does this work on Linux?
- Some of my games use mod managers to launch with mods on Steam, where you enter the mods through the mod manager and then launch the game there. This is the one I'm most worried about and also the one I would most like to work, since games I play often with mods use this method, like Dragon Age Inquisition with Frosty Mod Manager or Lethal Company with Thunderstore Mod Manager. Does this method work?
- Both SMAPi and Frosty Mod Manager are .exe programs, and I read somewhere those don't work on Linux. Is this true? What is the program supposed to be to work with Linux?
Sorry if these are stupid or obvious questions

Marvel Rivals broke
I have gotten DX 12 errors for 2 days after it worked just fine 3 days ago. I've tried changing the proton type, launch options (using different ones, and different combinations), updating the GPU drivers for my 3050 today (got a little further, but now it's just crashing with no errors)
I'm stuck, and I have no idea what happened, and it's ONLY rivals that doesn't work. I've kinda exhausted all the pasta I have and nothing stuck to the wall
I'm running Kubuntu 24.04 as my distro, and my laptop has an i5-11260h, 16gb RAM, and a RTX 3050

Playing with Proton = red artifacts (Unreal engine)
Any ideas what is going wrong? It is the first game I encounter this issue. Engine is Unreal 3.5 if it helps. Proton is latest GE but same thing appears with Proton 9.04 and experimental. Only environmental variables I use are gamemoderun mangohud.

PS5 controller not working
I'm running the latest version of Linux cinnamon mint and I'm having problems to set up the dualsense to play games on Steam.
The controller gets properly recognized via USB as well as via Bluetooth. Steam reads it as PS5 controller and all the inputs works just fine to navigate big picture mode. Yet, as I launch any game, only the trackpad works and behave as a mouse.
Couldn't find any specific discussion about it, but tried all the troubleshooting heads up about controllers in Linux without fortune. Here is a list of test I've made:
- Turn on/off Steam input
- Turn on/off Playstation controller support
- Force different Proton versions (9/10/experimental)
- Check different games (Hollow knight / Drg survivors / Hades)
- Launch games from big picture mode
But the issue unfortunately persists. What can I do?

Steam doesn't launch
I'm on Fedora 42 KDE, nvidia gpu. I tried to install steam, but it gives me the following errors:

I have no idea what to do. I tried reinstalling several times, deleting all steam data and doing system updates.
Edit: __GL_CONSTANT_FRAME_RATE_HINT=3 steam fixed this issue.

Battlenet not working: either through Lutris, Steam or Heroic
So I've been using popOS for almost an year now. Used to play a lot of WoW on it on my previous computer (full AMD build). I eventually had to sell it for personal reasons and was left playing with a gaming laptop (AMD CPU, Nvidia GPU). I am only sharing this because honestly, I played for almost a year non-stop on my previous computer, but now have faced a very recurring problem on the laptop. Here it goes:
- I had battlenet installed through Lutris; at some point, I started getting network errors stating that Battlenet wasn't able to update itself. The tips on the page suggested reinstalling or checking the network connection. After a reinstallation, I was never able to get to battlenet; it just gets that same error when installing the launcher, and states the installation cannot be finished because of that same "network problem".
- I used heroic. Successful for a while; after a day or two, I started getting the same problems: cannot reach the servers and/or update. Reinstallation did not solve.
- Then Steam. Wonderful stuff after each installation. I can ALWAYS play the game for as much as I want when I add the installation .exe as a non-steam game, install the launcher and download WoW; but after that, if I turn off or reboot my PC, I can no longer do it; pressing "Play" on Steam just gives no results, and I've tried using different Proton versions (Experimental, Hotfix, 10.X, 9.x.x, etc).
At this point, I am stuck only being able to play WoW every time I reinstall it. Which, at least for retail, is absolutely impossible to manage because it's a 100gb download.
I appreciate all the help you can provide! Also, is there is some other community or forum I could reach out to for help, please let me know. I am somewhat new to Linux for gaming and was having a pretty great experience, until recently (let's say things started to not work around a month ago, give or take).
Cheers!
