Haven Moon Game blips off after loading
Hi. I wonder if you could help out here? I'm running MXLinux on a Dell XPS 8930 with an nVidia GeForce GTX 1080 and 64 gigs of RAM. This problem has occurred with a few Steam games. I tried the default Proton Experimental compatibility layer and also Proton 9.0-4. The game loads to 100% and then suddenly blips off and disappears. It's definitely not running in the background because each time I restart the game, it does the same thing: loads to 100% and then blips off. I really want to play this game because of its Myst vibe. Any clues as to how I can get this to run? I am not an experienced gamer so I'm at a loss for troubleshooting.

it became really worthless i was afraid of switching to Linux because of lacking game support
but i said am not gonna lose anything because i cant play anyway
i was amazed how easy was the setup and all of those games worked out of the box and even better than ever
no stutter at all and smooth experience
am still struggling to get retroarch works well but not an issue at all because its just lack of knowledge

Wayland = UI Problems Sometimes?
I'm kind of a basic bitch so I like to use KDE, specifically the Wayland version because of all the added features. It usually plays better with my TV when I plug my PC in and other such things.
I've noticed that sometimes when using the Wayland version that the UI and mouse cursor in games just doesn't work. Sometimes the mouse works and none of the UI buttons work. Sometimes the mouse cursor won't even show up. Sometimes there are no issues and everything works as expected. If any issues do pop up I can log out and run an X11 KDE session and the issue is always resolved.
Has anyone run into this or can explain what is going on? This isn't an issue but I am curious to learn more and see if/how Wayland presents problems for Linux gaming in the future
Side note: inevitably people will ask what Distro I am using and what my SW setup is etc, I use Arch Linux and regularly install updates via pacman. I tend to use the pacman repos for everything (no flatpaks) and I tend to always use Proton-GE for all my games since it is very stable. I also use asdf for grabbing the latest Proton-GEs

Bazzite, SteamOS vs Windows
I bought a Steam Deck and I'm in love with the system. Every game I play seems to have no stuttering or freezing issues.
Is this thanks to Linux? I'm thinking of installing this Bazzite on my PC, and is it better than Windows 11 for gaming?
Can I install any mods as well?

Is it a good idea to play games on PlayOnLinux, or do you recommend something else?
It's been years since I played a game, and I've been wanting to play classic games like Warcraft 3 or even Spore. I recently discovered that Warcraft 3 Classic only comes bundled with Reforged, and my PC can't handle Reforged (besides, I don't like it). I wanted to know if it's advisable to use PlayOnLinux (although I've never used it) or if you recommend other alternatives.

Linux Mint with Wine is the ultimate combo for retro gaming. Lately, I’ve been on a nostalgia trip, replaying every game from my youth. They all ran flawlessly: Cybermercs, Jagged Alliance 2, Settlers 3, Nox, Age of Wonders, HoMM3. Only System Shock 2...
Low CPU and GPU Usage in Dark Souls Remastered
Hello, I am trying to run Dark Souls Remastered and facing low resource usage leading to low fps. Could anyone help me in this problem. I have tried using multiple proton versions, enabling/disabling gamemode, fsync, esync. I also have a nvidia gpu. I'll list all of my specs below
Ryzen 5 3550h Nvidia Gtx 1650 mobile, Proprietary drivers 580.xx Using DXVK, Proton versions tried: Proton 9, Proton GE 9-25 X11/i3wm as window manager. Composition disabled while in game.
I also checked launch logs and didnt find anything suspicious. I also have resident evil 2 and some other games on my system which runs perfectly fine and tanks me gpu to 100% usage hence this issue is game specific.
Thanks in advance! P.S. sorry for the pic, haven't setup maim/flameshot on i3 yet :p

NVIDIA Sends Out Initial Turing GPU Support For Open-Source Nova Driver

Does Helldivers 2 + Linux + New Zealand = No multiplayer lobby access
Whenever I try to connect to someone's lobby it fails to connect or times out.
This started some time in November betwen the 2nd and 4th, depending on one's time zone.
I run CachyOS, one child runs openSUSE and the other runs Bazzite. None of us can connect to multiplayer lobbies specifically in Helldivers 2.
All other MP games we've tried work fine, though I don't have any other Sony/PSN related games to test.
I've tried every flavour and version of Proton I can get my hands on.
We can connect instantly if we boot into Windows though so that's wierd and annoying... because Windows.
Finally, for shits and giggles, I VPN'd to the Netherlands in linux and it works?
So I guess my questions are...
- WTF?
- What could be different about connections under proton vs connections in Windows that would do that?
- Is there anyone else in NZ who has something similar?

Help with VP9 hardware decoding not working 100% with GTX 1660 Super
Above is confirmation in Firefox that I did everything right and now have support for VP9 hardware decoding but when I check my gpu useage when streaming youtube videos, only the graphic part of the gpu is active, not the video part so 50% is offloaded to my cpu which I didn't want.
After doing more research I now understand that decoding video is a 2 part process, one which uses the graphic decoder and the second part using the video decoder in the gpu.
Any idea how to fully utilize my gpu for this in linux. Obviously I missed something somewhere.

Windows 95/98/XP games installed from a CD on modern Hardware?
So i have the original trilogy of Combat Flight Simulator, Crimson Skies and Air Warrior III and i've tried to install them but i'm having mixed results from not running at all to only displaying a black screen.
Also it's a SATA drive and it doesn't fit in when i have the case closed because of space and cable limitations, so i would like to install them and remove the drive.
I thought that installing the game would be enough but seems like they still need the disk.

Am I in over my head?
Specs: CachyOS, i9-12900K, 32GB RAM, Nvidia 3080
I have been trying to get my Valve Index to function with SteamVR to absolutely NO avail for weeks now. I've had headaches with other games as well, but the complete inability of VR to function at all is the most glaring. My hunch is that the Nvidia GPU is the culprit, but for now it's what I'm stuck with. Should I just go back to Windows? Is Linux just not meant for owners of Nvidia GPUs?
