Steam gets new tools for game devs to offer players version switching in-game
Im japanese if not good english im sorry The best settings for comfortably playing PC VR games (VRChat, etc.) using Garuda Linux and Quest 3 (when I tried, there was severe lag and freezing)
I’m a Japanese who loves Garuda. I’m not good at explaining, but I’ll try my best. Garuda I want to play PC VR games on Linux. I was playing on Windows, but I don’t know if it was a Windows system, but it broke and stopped working. I tried to make a Windows live USB, but for some reason Windows ISO didn’t work, so I struggled for a few days, but I was tired so I gave up. I tried to play VR games (VR chat) on Garuda before, and tried various things, but I couldn’t play properly because of lags and freezes. I’m tired of Windows, so if anyone knows the best settings for steamVR or ALVR on Garuda (I tried ALVR before, but it didn’t work properly.) or other recommended tools, please let me know.
Long and pointless text I’m sorry that my explanation is poor and the text is difficult to understand.

Bottles issue
Hey guys,
Been on Linux for probably around 12 months full time since upgrading from windows.
No issues gaming for most of my library. However I decided to try and dive into using Bottles for a bit of experimentation to run a few of my games.
I've moved my Hoyoverse Game (Zenless Zone Zero) into a bottle of its own, and for the most part haven't had an issue on my main AMD GPU/CPU PC. Decided to the same with my laptop, AMD CPU/NVIDIA GPU and was working correctly for a week or so until.. I'm assuming an update came through and has basically rendered this technique of running these games useless.
I've uninstalled the game, deleted the bottle and flatpak software entirely. Uninstalled/reinstalled nvidia drivers and tried multiple different launch command and still greeted with this issue. When i swap to the iGPU the game launches perfectly, with the obvious performance deficit as it's not a dGPU. I haven't yet resorted to reinstalling my distro. Should also mention ive used both the Flatpak version and AUR. Flatpak has this issue, works perfectly with the AUR version.
But just wanted some opinions on this error, if anyone has experienced this themselves, any fixes or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Asseto Corsa Help
For the life of me i can't make it run, i have it on steam, i'd done the guides stating to use proton 5.0 for the libraries, and nothing happened, tried using GE, and nothing happened, running on POP_Os. If someone has some tips, tricks or anything to help, i'll thank you in advance.

Does distro matter for performance?
Hi all. Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but does distro really matter for gaming performance? Like is there an FPS/ performance difference between gaming on debian 12 vs bazzite? Or is the difference just aesthetic? If so what does that look like? Any good benchmarks I can look at?

can someone help me please
I've spent many hours trying to get any game running on Linux. I tried Bottles, but it had severe memory loss issues and didn’t remember my directories. I attempted to use Wine, but it never installed correctly. Finally, I tried Proton, but it didn’t handle dependencies properly.

Can you modify a controbution on ProtonDB?
Made a mistake and can't find how. Seems stupid to ask this but I don't see any modify or delete option.

How does Linux Mint seems to have such an elegant solution for dealing with Nvidia drivers and allothers distros don't?
I was trying to get my Nvidia driver work on Rocky Linux hoping both my iGPU and the Nvidia driver would work elegantly like it did in Linux Mint.
Man, it’s so frustrating. ALMOST all other distros seem to have such a convoluted way of dealing with this.
Impossible to believe that these guys (Mint) figured it out to make it this simple, whereas other distros are still so much behind!
May be some distros are just allergic to non-foss components but still others that aren’t allergic to non-foss components are lagging so much regarding this, it’s impossible to believe.

Does drive encryption affect performance in any way?
Hello, I am currently in the install process of Arch Linux and I was wondering if encrypting the drive would affect performance in any way, whether in games or in some sort of intensive task.

issue with Garuda Gamer program
Howdy
This is my first fore into non debian linux distros (steam deck doesn't count lol). I setup Garuda linux as the base of a game/file/media server. I was trying to use their gamer app, I'm mostly using this for steam and 2-3 emulators i can't run on my deck. I only wanted a few games under "games' like 0AD, Saurbraten, etc. so I only checked those. I went ahead with the install and now for some reason there's a bunch of those games in the games portion of my start menu. So I went back, unchecked them, okay. says it's going to remove them. great. still there. am I missing something?

Need help with a Logitech G923 Steering Wheel Issue.
Long story short, I have bought a Logi G923 xbox/pc version wheel, it works out of box on Ubuntu 24 when the modeswitch command is used, all the games I have tried have worked so far apart from one which is doing my head in. It's Farming Simulator 22. Does anyone else use the same wheel on the game with success, or are you having issues with the steering axis mapping. I map it to turn right and it works, when mapped to turn left the game sends the wheels full lock to the right at the slightest left turn of the wheel. Any help is appreciated with this.
