Hi

So I have tried to play with HDR and I cannot figure it out

Every time I put HDR ON the colors becomes "washed" out or or maybe just more bright.

Now I believe that there would be more color space with HDR but as it is now, it looks better without it

I am sure I am doing something wrong, because when I game on Windows (dualboot) it all looks better.... though it is not the same game I am running (BF1)

I have waited for some time to playing certain games, as I wanted to play them with HDR and without gamescope.

So I waited for all the tech to get aligned, like Proton, Wayland, Mesa, Radeon.

But now it seems there is something wrong.

Can anybody tell me, it is just the games Resident Evil 4 Remake and Diablo 4, That have bad HDR implementation or it is Proton or Linux, that is till not ready for it ?

or is it my settings or something in game or in system ?

so here my system specs:

HDR1000 screen connected through DisplayPort 2,1, that works fine with HDR in windows

I run this command in Steam Launch options:

PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 %command%

Display configuration I set for "prefer efficiency " and after that "prefer color accuracy" tried both and nothing really changed

Also another thing, when I set HDR on in Resident Evil4 remake, the mouse seems to have some latency all of a sudden... anybody knows what that's about ?

PS all the bright and washed out pictures is when HDR is on,

It is especially noticeable when you look at the Diablo 4 menu

I use my computer with a TV and I tried the whole adapter thing with a 7000 series a while back and it did not go well. There would be flickering and other issues. Even when I thought it was finally working right I started seeing color banding on random scenes telling me it was still not quite right.

Is there any solution yet in 2025? It's one of the main reasons I still need Nvidia. I keep eyeballing the 9070 but I just know I'll be disappointed again when I plug it in and see color banding and flickering and everything else and I'm not about to lock myself to 60hz in 2025.

Hello! I finally made the switch from Windows to Linux! I've been using Linux for years, but as a secondary system. I have EndeavourOS, which I've been using as my main system for 3 months. All the games I've played, no problems (I don't use the anticheat ones), games like Gow Ragnarok, RE4 Remake, GTA V, Spiderman, etc. I didn't even install games from any store ;) I even installed them using Steam. It's spectacular, really. I have a dual boot with Windows, just in case. I really like how everything works!

Hey everyone, I've been having some problem with The Sims 2 Legacy Collection.

I installed the EA App through Lutris using Wine 10.9, and then I installed The Sims 2 Legacy Collection and The Sims 3.

When I launched The Sims 2, I noticed the graphics were terrible and the only resolution option on the settings was 320x240. So I looked onto the Video Cards.sgr file since even though the game is updated, I wasn't sure it was recognizing my GPU. Indeed, my GPU wasn't listed, so I added it using the information I already had from The Sims 3 file. But it didn't work.

So I took a look at the config-log file under Documents/The Sims 2 Legacy/Logs and this is what the game gathered:

Im a big fan of classic games from the win 98 - win 7, The main problem im having is finding an easy way to keep my games organized, is there something i can use, i dont use playonlinux because its not good.

I've tried to play mdk2 HD on proton and here is the behavior maybe it can help anyone troubleshooting: the game itself does load, and sound works. The issue is there are basically no textures everything is all black. I can load into a level and particle effects like shooting work, but everything else is all black.

AMD or Nvidia GPU doesn't seem to matter. Using proton GE didn't fix it either. Note: this is the HD game version, not the original.

4070s. First 6 months or so of the game being out it ran flawlessly on max everything. Came back since they now offer permanent servers and it runs like absolute molasses in January. I've tried everything listed on Protondb. Currently got everything about medium or lower and it runs like a hot stuttery mess. I've tinkered with DLSS and FSR (FSR works better, but not by much).

Using Proton GE 10.10. I've tried launch commands from nothing all the way up to this: mangohud MANGOHUD_CONFIG=fps_limit=60 LD_PRELOAD="" WINE_SIMULATE_WRITECOPY=1 __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATION=1 __GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE=1 __GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE_PATH=/ __GL_SHADER_DISK_CACHE_SKIP_CLEANUP=1 __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATIONS=1 __GL_GSYNC_ALLOWED=1 __GL_IGNORE_GLSL_EXT_REQS=1 mesa_glthread=true gamemoderun %command% -dx12 -vulkan

Has anyone gotten this to be playable? I'd be perfectly happy with a stable 45-60fps.

I have played about 51 hours so far in Doom TDA, but I'm now getting locked out by Denuvo. It started on the middle of last week, launched the game and got the "sorry but: https://support.codefusion.technology/anti-tamper/?e=88500020&l=english&p=s&s=at" error.

I waited since thursday to try, and it's still kicking out that error when I try to play.

Is it really a 24 hour lock out? Are there any workarounds?

Using steam on manjaro and proton 9.0-4. I tried changing proton version after it locked out.

I tried using lutris, hgl and bottles, but it does not work well or at all. The only solution was to install EA Desktop on steam as a game and use it there, but next time I tried to run it, it was stuck at verifying files. So do anyone know, how to run any EA Desktop game on Linux (especially Arch Linux)

guys i think big picture uses too much gpu accelation for a console menu and i never seen somethink like that its just make it 2d its just using layers and fluid animations with layers i think i should make a 2d fork

It is with great sadness, because more than a few nerds will be glad this is happening, and I understand them, that I have to communicate the following to you today:

Running Genshin Impact on Linux, SteamOS or Steam Deck is now considered dangerous for your account.

Especially if you're playing your main. EU players are reporting bans ranging from 10 days to 50 years en masse, "just" because they're running the game on Linux. Bare WINE, futzed-around Proton builds, Proton GE, bare Proton, even with the hint that there IS something about Steam variants in the binaries, running the game on Linux will put your account at risk.

We recommend the following:

• Only play PC on Windows at this point, until communicated otherwise
• Play on PS5 and Xbox if consoles are accessible (PS4 is being dropped)
• Play on Mobile if you're an M
• Play Wuthering Waves since Kuro is doing the opposite and trying to support SteamOS and Steam Deck even with the most dumb spaghetti code of an anticheat there is

That is all. I hope the Genshin haters are happy.

So I am starting a Resident Evil 4 play-through and I want to use HDR

I am not quiet sure how to enable it, As before i read that you needed to use optiscaler and then a new version of wine hit I you could avoid optiscaler and then there was an update to Proton-GE and so on and so on and so on

so where are we now and how can I enable it in my system ?

All I get is the Valve screen for a few seconds then it all goes black and my memory usage is at max (8gb) and I can't even move my mouse. I added -novid to the launcher but it still doesn't work.

That variable doesn't appear in winehq wiki https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/wikis/Man-Pages/wine nor in Proton git page https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton

i had been eyeing linux for a while. Having to replace my corsair MP600 (lasted less than a year), i decided to install linux for the first time, cachyos.

I am a big player of modded game, (see examples pictures).

However, i am hit by something. How do i make the mods managers i use, function on linux?

What is the methodology that you use to diagnostic and make them functionals?
