Autohotkey equivalent for Linux?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. August 2025 - 17:24

I have been trying all the games I regularly play on Linux and it's going really well, for the most part. The only issue I have now is MMOs and some of their add-ons (DKP assist stuff for raids, parsers, triggers, etc.).

Under windows I would use AHK scripts to perform a series of button presses automatically based on a hotkey. Something like press ctrl+f8 to start the script that presses these 5 keys in succession (with pause timers) and then it'd stop when I pressed ctrl+f8 again. Even something simple like press key 'x' every 8 seconds. Is there any equivalent for Linux? What's the best way to go about this? Any help is much appreciated, thank you!

Wayland and multi-monitor cursor problems in-game

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. August 2025 - 16:56

hello! when running wayland on games with PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1, while playing the game I have noticed the cursor is not locked on the main monitor the game is active but will pass through the other monitor as well. Normally this only happens when the game is paused but it happens even if its not. Any notable fixes other than gamescope or disabling the second monitor?

very poor performance with 5070 ti in cyberpunk

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. August 2025 - 13:50

(linux noob here so please be patient with me)
I very recently got myself a 5070 ti, but what I noticed is that it is performing really poorly in cyberpunk 2077. The card performs just as it should in other games and benchmarks, but cyberpunk gives very poor performance despite being fully utilized. my previous gpu was a radeon and the game performed just as it should with it
Anyone know what the fix could be?

specs
gpu: 5070 ti
cpu: ryzen 7600
ram: 32gb 6000mhz
distro: cachy os
drivers: nvidia-open

A lil problem with a game

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. August 2025 - 12:53

I just recently bought a game and I have this itch to reinstall arch every maybe 2 days but I am trying to stop it. But 2 installs ago this game normally worked but now for some reason it doesn't wanna work. Fortunately it gives me a crash report which might narrow it down but my small brain doesn't understand it. Thanks in advance! (also how do I post it?)

Edit: Also every other game doesn't matter if it's from steam or not works normally

How do i use VRR in games?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. August 2025 - 12:52

I just found out that the monitor i've had for years has FreeSync capabilities.

So i enabled VRR in GNOME to try it out.

But how do i use it in games? Do i enable Vsync and it'll just sync to the VRR thing, it's automatically on, do games need to support it or something else? I read somewhere (i think) you're supposed to limit the FPS to a few FPS less than your max in game, idk...

I have an AMD card.

strange steam behaviour while gaming

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. August 2025 - 12:24

it shows \"Shutting Steam down\" and some window about gamepad configuration that time

after switching to linux noticed some troubles with steam stability. i use steam from official arch repositories. some time before, while i was playing dark souls, there were another issue: steam thought i wanna delete the game and showed that window in cycle right after i chose to not delete game. i tried to check steam logs, but didnt got any lines about that. who had the same problem? how'd u fixed that? i won't believe im the only one to get it

Slowly Game start in Battle.net Launcher

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. August 2025 - 11:57

I have a problem with World of Warcraft under Proton. I use the Faugus launcher to open the Battle.net launcher with GE Proton. Everything opens normally and quickly — World of Warcraft Retail and Diablo 2 Resurrected, for example.

But as soon as I try to start World of Warcraft Classic or World of Warcraft Mists of Pandaria Classic, it takes about 5 minutes for the game to launch. MoP Classic and WoW Classic start with a Wowclassic.exe, while Retail starts with Wow.exe.

I alredy try another prefix or to reinstall Classic, it doesn't help

Maybe someone can help

Nvidia RTX 5080 functionality on Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12. August 2025 - 11:55

Hi all

I recently built a new gaming rig with a nvidia RTX 5080.

I wanted to move away from windows and use Linux for gaming and day to day use.

I tried fedora, mint and popOS.

From what I could conclude, I was able to install the latest nvidia driver and steam. Games worked, but it would appear that the latest nvidia Linux driver does not enable the same functionality of the rtx 5080 compared to the windows driver. For example, DLSS, Raytracing etc.

It also capped the mhz of the card compared to windows.

Is this a fair analysis ? It blows my mind in 2025 that my nvidia card isn’t fully compatible with Linux.

I appreciate this is a nvidia issue not a Linux issue.

Please prove me wrong, or alternatively any ideas of what nvidia might open source their driver and fix this?

Thanks!
