lsfg-vk is VRR enabled.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 1 Stunde 42 Minuten

Yes, I am aware that it has been clearly stated that VRR is not officially supported. However, when I actually run it on a 120Hz VRR display in Bazzite's game mode using the Decky plugin, it is clear that with VRR on it is smoother and there is no stuttering. With VRR off, stuttering occurs. This is not limited to a specific game, but applies to all the games I tried (games that run at twice the 40-50 fps, or 80-100 fps). It shouldn't be supported, so why is this happening?

I have a 4K monitor. How is GNOME Fractional Scaling?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 1 Stunde 56 Minuten

Last I checked, GNOME would upscale to the nearest integer then downscale from there. This would cause games played on a 4k monitor to be rendered at 8k. Trying to set the display settings in the game to 4k would cause the game to look blurry.

I switched to KDE but I would love to try out GNOME again. Does fractional scaling still behave like this or have they improved it?

My Nvidia GPU does not work automatically while gaming on Linux Mint, HP victus 15

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 2 Stunden 33 Minuten

Hi, skip grammar mistakes, English is not my native language.

I installed Linux Mint yesterday. I loved it really. Sleep and internal mic now work with Linux 6.14 and above kernels. But I had an issue while playing games with steam(native pkg) and proton that the Nvidia gpu does not work automatically while gaming even when I choose Nvidia On-demand option. Cinnamon's optimus applet is just broken(says log out but when i switch to intel it fully disable my Nvidia card and I have to reboot to be able to switch again). The only way to get my Nvidia card to work is by switching to it manually. Does anyone here have a fix?

Hello everyone! I've encountered a problem while trying to play Red Dead Redemption 2. I launch the game, everything goes smoothly to the main menu, I launch story mode, everything loads, these photos appear, and the moment they disappear, the game crashes and displays a GFX ERROR. If I remember correctly, I've tried everything: Steam files, different Proton versions, driver updates, I even looked through every post about this problem, but nothing helped! So please help! :D

My specs:

RTX 2080 TI

I9 9900K

32GB RAM

Noob Question for anyone with experience with wine/proton

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 3 Stunden 37 Minuten

so basically my understanding of how proton/wine works is that they translate the windows api to the relevant linux api and i know that most games dont work because of kernel level anticheats.
So heres my questions why cant we translate the kernel calls in windows to the corresponding linux ones.

Thanks in advance

Problem with my GTX 970

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 3 Stunden 58 Minuten

Hello everyone,
I am running POP OS (ubuntu based) since a while and I've got a problem with my GTX 970 gpu.
I wanted to update the drivers (using the ubuntu one not the system76 one) my screen went black and since my GPU is not detected by my OS at ALL. I can connect the monitor to the motherboard it is still working this way.
I tried uninstalled the drivers, reinstalling them, doing a fresh install wihtout anything and still I don't get any detection, disconect and reconnect the gpu and it seems correctly powered. ubuntu-drivers devices does not output anything and this is the output of lspci:

Nvidia Stable branch 580.76.05 Released!

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 4 Stunden 21 Minuten

Highlights since R580 Beta Release, 580.65.06

  • Updated egl-x11 to version 1.0.3.
  • Updated egl-wayland to version 1.1.20.
  • Added an "OutputBitsPerComponent" MetaMode attribute that can be used to control the number of bits per color component transmitted via a display connector. If not specified, the driver will choose an optimal color format.

Highlights from R580 Beta Release, 580.65.06

  • Fixed a bug that could cause Vulkan applications to hang when destroying swapchains after a lost device event.
  • Fixed a bug that could allow atomic commit and other DRM operations to return success status despite having failed due to handling an interrupt: https://github.com/NVIDIA/open-gpu-kernel-modules/issues/832
  • Fixed a bug that could cause GTK 4 applications to crash when using the Vulkan backend on Wayland.
  • Fixed a bug that could intermittently cause llama.cpp to crash on exit when using the Vulkan backend: https://github.com/ggml-org/llama.cpp/issues/10528
  • Added support for the fifo-v1 Wayland protocol on Vulkan.
  • Updated GPU clock value reporting in nvidia-settings, NVML, and nvidia-smi to show clocks before thermal and idle slowdowns for better consistency with the equivalent functionality on Windows.
  • Fixed compatibility with Bigscreen Beyond Head Mounted Displays.
  • Fixed a bug that could result in a black screen when setting specific modes on HDMI displays.
  • Fixed a bug that caused blank or frozen screens under the following conditions: nvidia-drm is loaded with the modeset=1 and fbdev=1 parameters, using a Maxwell or Pascal series GPU, and more than one display device of differing resolutions are connected.
  • Fixed a bug that caused nvidia-suspend.service to fail when available system memory is low.
  • Enabled RMIntrLockingMode by default. This feature can help reduce stutter especially when using virtual reality. This feature was originally introduced in the r570 series. It can be disabled by loading nvidia.ko with the \NVreg_RegistryDwords=RMIntrLockingMode=0` kernel module parameter.`
  • Implemented another feature that can reduce time spent in the interrupt top half for low latency display interrupts by deferring the work until later. This feature is experimental and disabled by default. This feature can be enabled by loading nvidia.ko with the \NVreg_RegistryDwords=RmEnableAggressiveVblank=1` kernel module parameter.`
  • Fixed a bug that could cause blank rendering on some single-buffered GLX applications when running on Xwayland.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause a kernel use-after-free on pre-Turing GPUs.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause OpenGL applications and compositors to stall when using NVIDIA as a PRIME Display Offload sink ("Reverse PRIME"), potentially resulting in a black screen.
  • Fixed a bug that led to increasing memory usage in X11 OpenGL and Vulkan applications after suspend/resume cycles.
  • Fixed a bug that could cause 32-bit x86 applications running on recent builds of glibc to crash on dlopen().

Discord auto-starting upon login for no discernable reason

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 5 Stunden 7 Minuten

I'm on CachyOS, 5800x3d and 6800xt. Somewhere along the latest update discord starting launching upon login. I have the option disabled in the app, I have looked for systemd service (nothing), I have looked in ~/.config/autostart (also nothing). I'm quite baffled about what's causing it to load. Want other spots to look?

This all started after getting my discord personal info downloaded, man they track a lot..I don't want that program running all the time. At this point I wonder if I just use the web browser client

Autohotkey equivalent for Linux?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 6 Stunden 17 Minuten

I have been trying all the games I regularly play on Linux and it's going really well, for the most part. The only issue I have now is MMOs and some of their add-ons (DKP assist stuff for raids, parsers, triggers, etc.).

Under windows I would use AHK scripts to perform a series of button presses automatically based on a hotkey. Something like press ctrl+f8 to start the script that presses these 5 keys in succession (with pause timers) and then it'd stop when I pressed ctrl+f8 again. Even something simple like press key 'x' every 8 seconds. Is there any equivalent for Linux? What's the best way to go about this? Any help is much appreciated, thank you!
