Steam Big Picture
I am Debian testing and I installed Sunshine via the .deb installer and installed Steam from flathub.
I could access the host desktop via Moonlight, but couldn't get the Steam big picture to work. My guess is because it is flatpak. However, I do not know the detached command to use un Sunshine to open Steam in big picture mode.
I have steam steam://open/bigpicture but it opens the desktop and I have to open steam manually.
Thank you

Most games are suddenly unplayable on Nvidia 570.133.07 driver
Suddenly this week, most games became unplayable with frame rates between 10 to 40fps with extremely low GPU usage. Some games like Noita run in slow-motion with sudden spikes of 60fps for maybe a second. Watch Dogs 2 is completely fine. Schedule I has *constant* 15fps in game and normal fps in menus.
I have tried:
- KDE Plasma on Wayland, Cinnamon on X11
- ReBar on and off
- flatpak and non-flatpak
- Kernel 6.13.7, 6.13.8, 6.14.1
- many different WINE and Proton versions
- rebuilding initramfs, akmods
System:
- OS: Fedora 41 (all latest updates)
- iGPU is disabled
- Games are installed on NVME drive
I checked:
- GPU is running at expected PCIe Gen and bus width
- VRAM is not full
- Windows 11 runs everything fine
- Manjaro Live ISO runs everything fine

Help: Steam Menus Non-Functional
I am trying to edit game properties in Steam, but no matter what, I can't get to the property's menu. Each time I try, it acts like the button isn't there, and click what ever is behind it. How can I resolve this?

Flydigi Vader 4 Pro not working wireless on arch but works on Nobara
Been trying to make it work for weeks but no success on my arch (hyprland) install.
Wired: Works in dinput, doesn't get recognized (on https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad) in xinput
Wireless (dongle): Gets recognized in dinput but inputs don't register. Doesn't get recognized in xinput
'recognized' here means https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad picked it up.
It works flawlessly in all modes on my Nobara install
Packages I have tried: xboxdrv, xone-dkms, xone-dkms-git, xone-dongle-firmware, xpadneo-dkms-git, xpadneo-dkms, dkms, linux-headers, game-deives-udev
When I run sudo xboxdrv --debug
I get (when in wireless (dongle) xinput mode)

GNU C Library Lands Workaround After Breaking Various Steam Games, Discord & Other Apps
Remote connect to Windows for gaming?
Has anyone tried connecting remotely to a Windows machine from Linux for gaming? I had an idea to basically have my gaming PC exclusively run windows, and basically turn it on exclusively for gaming (or video rendering and other high GPU power activities) and remotely connect to it from a relatively low powered Linux machine.
This in my mind would solve two things. I could still be able to enjoy Linux, the privacy it offers, and the functionality it can give outside gaming, but also still enjoy every gaming I want to play without having to deal with a dual boot and constantly rebooting from one OS to another. An unintended bonus is that it could save electricity in certain use cases.
For anyone who's done this successfully, how is the input delay like, and what software did you use to accomplish the remote connection?

Vesktop not showing video
Hey friends! I just made the switch to using Vesktop, which has been fantastic for streaming audio for my games with friends. Only problem...now there's no video! I'm the only current Vesktop user, so all of them are using Discord currently. When sharing, I can see the streamed content on my end, but they get the ol' infinite wheel and end up with a "Stream has failed to load error." Another viewer was able to hear the audio (very loudly) but only a black screen for the video.
Anyone Vesktop users out there have a fix?

Steam overlay doesn't work on some games (HLL, 7D2D)
Morning all, I recently switched to Linux (Mint, Cinnamon, loving it, works amazingly well), and I've been testing my games out on it. Hell Let Loose, Mordhau, and 7D2D all work out of the box. (had to put an instruction in HLL to use more cores and DX12, very easy 5 minute fix).
However, on HLL and 7D2D, the Steam overlay doesnt work, and I dont see the FPS counter either. I noticed both of these games loaded something called Vulkan before starting up for the first time. I can play both games just fine.
Mordhau works perfectly with full Steam overlay functionality.
I have no idea what Vulkan is, or if its relevant, just that it's something the problem games have in common that Mordhau doesnt.
I've tried looking this up and read a bunch of posts made over the last ten years with seemingly no solution.
Does anyone know any workarounds for this issue? I can still play these games, so it's not the end of the world, but it would be nice to be able to chat with steam friends and keep an eye on my FPS.

Dark souls 3 performance is horrible
Hello everyone!
I'm trying to play Dark Souls 3 but the performance is just awful. Even though mangohud says the game is running at 60 fps, it clearly isn't. A lot of the animations are janky and feels like 30 fps, same with the camera movement. It doesn't matter if I'm playing windowed or full screen.
Also, there is SO MUCH screen tearing, it really gets annoying.
I'm running the game through Steam using Linux Mint 22 and using GE-Proton9-25.
I am pretty sure my computer is able to run this game, since I've got my platinum using Windows and never had any performance problems at all. But just in case:
Ryzen 5 3600X
RTX 3060 Ti (Running 550.120 driver. Probably is the proprietary version? Mint installed it automatically when I installed the system).
16 GB RAM (2 x 8 GB at 3200 Mhz CL16)
Both the system and the game are installed on a SATA SSD.
I am trying to run the game at 1440p and my monitor is running at 165 hz. I know the game engine is locked to 60 fps, and I'm not trying to reach 165 fps. I just want a smooth 60 fps experience, just like on Windows.
Btw, had a similar problem with Dark Souls Remastered using Proton Hotfix, but changing to ProtonGE fixed it. Game was completely locked to 30 fps otherwise (even though mangohud was reporting 60 fps).
So, does anyone knows what may be happening here?
Thanks in advance!

Heroic Launcher crashes on Fallout 3
This may be a very specific question because it only happens on this game, but when I'm playing Fallout 3 (GOTY Edition) on Heroic Launcher, randomly the whole system just crashes, everything just freezes and I have to turn off my laptop, the game runs very well, and these freezes are completely random.

Current state of sunshine/apollo on linux?
I’ve been considering switching my OS over to either CachyOS or Bazzite, but my only concern is losing features that I’ve already grown accustomed to.
Currently I play everything at 4k60/120 in HDR, streamed to the Moonlight app on Xbox Series X and iPhone 15 Pro. Everything as it is works pretty well and is fairly seemless, but over the past year or two windows has sent out botched updates that complete break on my system.
I’ve heard that HDR has issues working, or maybe just doesn’t work as good in Linux? That would definitely be a huge bummer to me if that feature is no longer practical
Also my PC is essentially just a game streaming server that I occasionally use to remote into work, so all I’d really have on there is just steam, Apollo/sunshine and (maybe) my Remote Desktop software (if it isn’t compatible I have another PC I can use) so one thing I’m also slightly worried about is the reliability of this system in regards to updates; not that windows has been particularly reliable to me, but I wouldn’t want to jump right back in to having the same issues as before either.
To those who care, these are the specs
RTX 4080 Super (566.36 because recent updates causing really bad crashing)
Ryzen 9 9900X
64GB 6000mt/s CL30
1TB M.2 Gen 3 for OS (Windows 11)
2TB M.2 Gen 5 for games
