Screen flickering when playing GOG Diablo + Hellfire with Proton
I purchased Diablo + Hellfire and installed Heroic Games Launcher. Though the game can be launched but basically the screen is nearly black with the area surrounding mouse cursor showing partial Diablo text if choosing Diablo (high resolution); if choosing Diablo (Classic), the game asks "Please insert Diablo CD ...", and the game complains with error after clicking the right hand side button (no text shown on it).
My environment is Debian trixie.
How can I fix it? Please let me know if more info is needed. Thanks

PS4 controller
Hi gang,
I'm using a PS4 controller and heroic games launcher. I used to run pop OS and the controller worked fine. Stupid me decided to distro hop. Now no matter what I do, the PS4 track pad acts as the right analog stick to look around such as Oblivion and Morrowind whereas the right analog stick is treated as a button when pressed and that's it. I also noticed wine versions and proton versions affect the controller. I must of got lucky first time round. I have it connected via USB. I've been mucking around for 3 days, even went back to Pop, now on Linux Mint where I'm not moving from just to try get it to go. Any ideas?

Auto HDR for specific games
Is there a way to enable HDR only when launching specific games? I don't like to have HDR enabled always because text isn't as clear on my monitor for general browsing, etc. I know HDR support is in the early stages, but even it is was a simple keyboard shortcut to enable and disable HDR would be useful.

Is AMD the only option?
I've been using a Radeaon RX 5700 XT for about 3 years now. It began to crash on the daily after only a year. At the time i was using Windows 10 and did not overclock or undervolt the card.
At the moment I'm running arch linux and has resorted to undervolting the card but it still crashes, even under minimal loads.
I can't stand using this card any more, so I'm going to upgrade.
Is it worth switching back to NVIDIA, since they are (imo) much better cards, or do I double down and get a better AMD card for the sake of Linux compatibility and price? What would you guys recommend? My budget is quite small around $300-$500 and I've found a few 3080 and 4060 second hand around the $200-$300 mark.

What graphics card do I need?
I have a 15 year old desktop with an i5-4460, 32GB Ram and an Nvidia GeForce 750 ti.
I've not played any games since the early 90s.
4 years ago I joined Steam and bought a copy of Dirt4, but it was completely unplayable.
So I gave up on the idea of playing games.
I've just seen a video on YouTube showing a comparison of the GT 750 ti against a GT 1030 and the 750 was playing games with no issue.
Can someone explain how they are running all these games with the same GPU but I couldn't get Dirt4 to run?

Hi guys. Update from my previous post. I now installed 4 games on my not so gaming laptop.
My Question is, i wanna revisit my Far Car 3 game with additional DLC update. But i dont want to spend time to finish the story. So, i want to install wemod like launcher so i can speed running this game story until the last chapter i didn't manage to finish. Any idea how to do this? I tried to install wemod using wine. But my games not detected by wemod.

Microsoft Flight Sim 2020
Hello folks, I’m new here. But “here here” and to Linux. I’m running Endeavour OS with Steam and have gotten many games to work quite nicely, but so far MSFS 2020 keeps giving me this error while booting. I’ve tried both Proton Experimental and 9.x Anyone here know what’s the next step to get this game to work? Here are two photos using the two Protons. Thanks for reading!

Starcraft graphic issues
I switched to cachyos from mint. I played starcraft on mint by adding battlenet as a non steam game. The graphics were grainy for a while and an update fixed it. I'm having the same grainy issues on cachy but I can seem to fix it. Using am AMD 6800 gfx card. I've tried updating the o s and graphics card drivers and I didn't fix it. It's not a setting. Google wasn't much help..... any insight would help.

VR game stopped working after new steam update.
Hi!
I have a problem with game BONELAB on steam. I was playing it in october on Arch via ALVR. It worked perfectly. I've stopped playing it for a few weeks and get back to the game in November. The problem is that it couldn't run after that time. Game started with standard info about loading OpenXR and crashed itself and steam too (!).
It happened after that strange update where steam broke VR overlay for linux so it showed old version of it so I thought it was problem with that and waited for fix. After fix it didn't work too. Everytime crash of the game and steam itself.
So, I blamed (again :D) SteamVR and ALVR. Downloaded Envision with WiVRn. Other games like VRChat or Resonite worked with it without problems (even some small games outside of steam worked too) but still BONELAB was crashing with steam - only change was that it started showing me loading screen for a few seconds in VR so it was a progress.
This time I blamed BONELAB itself because there were some changes done there in October/November. Tried to use beta version on steam and even downloaded old version from June 2024. These two behaved the same as normal version. I couldn't find any solutions what happened. In logs I can find only one thing ipc_call_compositor_get_reference_bounds_rect failed: XRT_ERROR_NOT_IMPLEMENTED (full logs at the bottom of the post). What to do? How to fix it?
Additional info:
VR: Oculus Quest 2
WiVRn version: latest 0.21.1
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3050 Laptop edition
Special options for a game on steam (yeah I tried without it too): __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia __NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __VK_LAYER_NV_optimus=NVIDIA_only VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/nvidia_icd.json %command%
Logs before crash:
Thanks for any advices!
