Searching for some game recommendations

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 10 Sep 2025 - 12:19pm

It may be a setup that will anger so many, but I'm down for any criticism. I'm more of an old school person, and I finally got my gaming pc back to working condition. I'm looking for recommendations for any games, and also heavy games to test limits in different aspects.

(I only have a 75hz monitor if anyone asks.)

AMD Strix Halo on Linux questions

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 10 Sep 2025 - 11:51am

Prefacing this with the fact I already have an all AMD desktop running Linux I know AMD support is generally excellent.

Just purchased a new laptop with an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 395 and the first thing I will do when I get it is install Linux on it.

I was wondering what the experience is like on Linux from people with first hand experience.

  • Any incompatibilities or issues related to how "new" Zen 5 is ?
  • How's performance on Linux gaming and creative applications ?
  • Anything I should be aware of ?
  • How's battery life affected if at all ?

I can not find too much info online about the Linux side of things with these Zen 5 chips.

I also intend on benchmarking and sharing results here when I get it in case anyone else in in my situation wondering how the experience is before buying.

Question: Affordable ray tracing game recommendations for RX7900

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 10 Sep 2025 - 11:11am

Hi,

I accidentally 😆 bougth a used RX 7900 XT and have just set it up and tested it—everything works fine so far. Now I'd like to see this raytratything that everyone has been talking about for years.

Can anyone recommend games that support ray tracing with good performance on my 7900 wich don’t break the bank? Free or discounted games preferred! 😀

Background: I haven’t played for over 10 years so my backlog is huge. After getting back (the last 2-3 years), I mostly played F2P or sale stuff (Epic freebies, War Thunder, World War Z, Once Human (gave up quickly, felt too open); Fallout 4 (again too “open”); Hearts of Iron 4, Civilization 6, Industria).

Shout out: Any underrated or hidden budget games with good ray tracing that run well on Linux (Steam, Gog or Epic) with 7900xt?

Thanks for any Tipps

Unity Mod Manager on Steam Deck (solasta)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 10 Sep 2025 - 9:12am

tldr: how do i install UMM on steam deck when “folder select” (photo 1) brings me to this weird old school PC screen, where i cannot locate the correct folder?

please help me. i followed many guides to this spot every time where i can’t find the install folder for solasta since it brings up this weird old school computer screen that feels like a whole new device just for that one selection. a lot of the folders are empty or lead to nowhere; i included an example of. folder in Z:bin or something. i found. i even went to C:programfiles(x86)steam/steam apps and the folder just ends there. (5th picture)

there’s even a folder with how do i fix that? i included pics if anyone can help me ill be so thankful.

i have been trying to install this for almost a year now with no luck it’s driving me crazy :(

Helldivers 2: Anyone else's game NOT crashing? - just curious

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 10 Sep 2025 - 4:52am

Hello! I've been playing Helldivers 2 since June on Fedora 42 and Arch (dual boot) with a RX 9060 XT and have been reading a lot of posts about the game crashing all the time or dropping frames. Even some who have had enough of the crashes they deem the game unplayable and have stopped playing.

I'm just curious, as I have not experienced any crashes while playing, only crashes I had was early on when customizing weapons, but never while in mission.

Has any other helldiver on linux experienced the same regular crashing as those who play on windows? or am I just lucky?

My pc is full AMD (Ryzen 5 4600g and a RX 6600), so which would be the best distro for a AMD user?

Bazzite crashing on install, AIO cooler stops functioning?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 10 Sep 2025 - 4:40am

Ok, this is a new one for me. Doing some prelim Linux testing on my new rig. Dual boot setup with 7 drives, 4 PCIe nVMEs, 3 SATAs SSDs.

Trying to install Bazzite on one of the SSDs. Get into the installer the first time, starts up, get the language selection screen, freeze, crash, reboot. Second try, I get this:

https://preview.redd.it/pc6o7lvk29of1.png?width=2477&format=png&auto=webp&s=94fea9f8f44db81bff85008160f36efb220f0f48

Same drive from the prior attempt but crashes out earlier even.

Then I start to notice the AIO (Corsair Titan 360 coolant temp). Approaching 60 C with is should be more like 42. Switch back over to Windows, temps were still high but cooled down to normal.

Has anyone seen this before?

Gaming keyboard/device for Linux with Linux-compatible software

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 10 Sep 2025 - 2:32am

I'm looking for an ergonomic gaming keyboard or keypad device with programmable/customizable keys and linux compatible software that comes with it to customize the keys/hotkeys for gaming.

Something like this:

https://dygma.com/products/dygma-raise-2

https://dygma.com/products/dygma-defy

These look good to me but don't have quite as many keys as I'd prefer. I'd like one that has like F1-F4 keys , for one thing, and all the 0-9 number keys on the left side, if possible. And software that runs well on Linux of course.

Is this pretty much my best option or do you Linux gamers know something closer to what I'm looking for?

Or if anyone knows a vertical/ergonomic gaming mouse with the rest of the number keys I need access to with my left-hand, that might work.

Thing is a lot of gaming devices like these typically have software that only works on Windows, and of course I'd like one with linux compatible software to handle programmable/macro key functions and stuff for video games.

Help me to change from windows 11 to Bazzite Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 10 Sep 2025 - 2:29am

Hi guyss, what's up? I am barely decided to move on my pc from windows to bazzite linux, becaus of:

  • less blootware and pre-installed apps
  • zero microsofot spying and colecting my data
  • zero boring news tab or office or onedrive push notifications
  • better gaming optimatzation
  • gaming mode like steamOS where i can just chill in my bad and play games and control my pc using the gamepad withou touching the keyboard or mouse
  • just curiosity to experiment linux for the first time

I am a programmer and i am starting my degree in game development at the university right now, so i will use the system not just to play games, but, to build games too.

Do you guys think that is a decente image distro (yeah i know the real distro behind this is fedora silverblue) to work with game programing?

Also i saw some guys taling about problems with davinci resolve, like, there is possibility to use this for video editing?

and finally, if some of guys can tell me: what i need to do? like in my pc, i need to change something in the settings? about bios, file system (nTFS, EXFAT etc), or updates? i am just planning to save importanta documents and videos/images in a external hdd, and change from windows to bazzite, but i saw a lot of tutorials in youtube about how to do a dual boot but i don't want a dool boot i want just to remove windows and to use just bazzite because i am convincend gonna be a better experienece in terms of gaming, work, etc etc

I'll really appreciate every comment!

Please help this newbie lunx guy
