Low Latency Mode/Reflex? I couldn't find anything in the FAQ and am receiving mixed results on Google. Help, please!

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 12 Nov 2024 - 1:13am

Hello there! Just a real quick and simple question: On windows, I can open the NVCP and force enable ultra under "low latency". This is a life saver in games like Terraria where the mouse feels like it's being dragged through mud without the setting. But, the game does not natively support the setting, and thus the need for the control panel. Does Reflex/Ultra Low Latency exist inside of Linux? And, if so, is there a way to hard force it for games that can benefit but don't have the setting in a menu somewhere?

It is the only thing keeping me from going full Linux. VRR and Gsync are already supported, I know that, so if this one settings works out...

Anyone have any experience with the XAC on Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 11 Nov 2024 - 11:04pm

Hello I was born disabled and I’m looking into getting an Xbox adaptive controller to play some games I’ve never been able to play.

I read that Microsoft were working on getting support for the XAC into the kernel a few years ago however I’ve not seen whether or not this was completed and the only thing more recent that I have seen is a reference to a GitHub repository.

Does anyone have any more information or some experience with it working?

Jedi Fallen Order

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 11 Nov 2024 - 10:28pm

Bonjour,

Having seen the last post about Steam Compatdata

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 11 Nov 2024 - 9:15pm

Is it feasible for steam to add all games that use a certain launcher i.e, EA or Ubisoft, to implement a way for those games to use the same prefix? Say when you launch in steam and don't specify a specific proton to use, they could all be clumped into the same prefix?

Resident Evil 7 starts running at half the speed

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 11 Nov 2024 - 8:33pm

Hi,

I recently bought RE7 on steam and started playing the game, after like 40 ish minutes when I am in the main house the framerate of the game goes down from 60FPS (capped) to around 30, the game will also run at half the speed (I move slower, the dialog glitches out) making the game basically unplayable. I restarted the game multiple times (also my PC) and now it seems to be happening after 5 minutes regarding of where I am in the game.

I let the shader cache complete.

I tried the following:

- Uncapped frame rate

- Setting the framerate to 30

- Experimental version of proton, latest version and older versions and the latest version of proton GE.

- Changing the graphics settings to the lowest.

Nothing has worked so far. The game should be more than playable on my hardware (RTX 3060, I7 11th gen, 16GB RAM). I'm running the latest version of ZorinOS (17.2) which is ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS (Jammy Jellyfish)

I also checked both proton DB and google to see if people have the same issues but nobody seem to have the same issue as me. The game has a gold rating and most people seem to be able to play with no issues.

Anyone has any ideas? Since the game is kinda unplayable right now for me.

Need Help Getting Lego Avengers to Run On Steam Deck!

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 11 Nov 2024 - 7:53pm

Hello! I’m new to Linux gaming via the gateway drug called the Steam Deck.

Lego Avengers (and some other Lego games) have an issue where the game is stuck on a black loading screen after you load a save.

The Steam Community Guide link below goes over how to resolve the issue on Windows, but I have not been able to figure out how to do the equivalent on Linux.

If we can figure out a solution that works, then I can create guides on the Steam Community Forums for future users to use and credit the Reddit users who help!

Anyone managed to get Pokemon TCG Pocket running on Linux?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 11 Nov 2024 - 7:02pm

I'm trying to run Pokemon TCG Pocket on my Linux laptop but so far nothing. On Windows I got it working with LD9player and I believe it also works with mumuplayer and maybe even bluestacks by now, but on Linux I've tried Genymotion, Waydroid, Android Studio and so far no luck. I'm aware of armv8 to x86-64 translation and I'm using the needed programs for that on the emulators but still nothing.

I also tried a Virtualbox machine with Windows and then LD9player in it but it tells me my openGL version is too old and loads forever. My laptop specs are i5-8250u, 8gb RAM and GTX1050m

How to make a virtual display of bigger size than main monitor with xrandr for use with Sunshine?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 11 Nov 2024 - 6:57pm

I have a phone that is resolution 2712x1220@120hz that i want to stream games using Sunshine/Moonlight, however my main monitor's resolution caps at 1080p60, I tried to run things like cvt 2712 1220 120 and whatsonot, adding it as a new mode to a disconnected output in xrandr, even tried to plug in an actual monitor I don't use and giving that the mode and whatsonot but the same thing happens, an ambigue X error appears in the console (like BadValue) and all my monitors freeze until I unplug said monitor, virtual or physical (xrandr <> --off if its virtual or unplugging the cable if physical)
How can I solve this?
