XBox App in Waydroid

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26 Oct 2025 - 5:25am

I have a buddy who is very much a PC gamer but for some reason insists on using his XBox a lot of the time. Instead of using the Discord app on the XBox and using his existing Discord server or setting up a laptop to use his existing Teamspeak server, he also insists on using XBox Party Chat because....reasons. We can play cross platform games, but I am unable to voice chat with them because I have only Discord or Teamspeak.

Everything I can find about using the XBox Android app in Waydroid are at least a year old and from what I can tell they suggest that there is no microphone support as of the time of their posting.

Does anyone know what the current state of voice chat in the XBox app in Waydroid is? Does it work? Do I need an XBox specific account to use the app or does a regular Microsoft account as I would use to log into Windows work?

EDIT: Also, I keep finding references to being able to join Xbox parties in a browser, but I can't find a website to actually do this? Is this something XBox planned and never implemented? Something that was once a thing but has been discontinued? It's maddening.

Heroic cloud saves: discrepant behavior depending on how "cloud saves sync" is accessed for the first time

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26 Oct 2025 - 3:51am

I'm writing this post because I was having some trouble with cloud saves in Heroic, and I want to document it in case someone runs across the same issue.

I'm using Fedora with Heroic Games Launcher 2.18.1 installed as a flatpak. I've linked it to a GOG account where I have some pre-existing cloud saves that were created back when I was using GOG Galaxy on a Windows system.

If I access cloud saves by clicking on a game and then opening the game's settings from that screen, then cloud saves don't seem to work. So, for instance, clicking on Against the Storm in my Library:

https://preview.redd.it/1m8iwqqzbdxf1.png?width=1477&format=png&auto=webp&s=b8c6afbbbe07c64bb8a122f8491174d7117ebf47

The settings for this game can be accessed from the button in the top-right corner. The cloud sync screen does not work well when I do this. A "Trying to detect the correct save folder" message appears and sits there forever. Canceling that and trying to perform a sync pops up an empty box with no text, and nothing will ever appear here:

https://preview.redd.it/2ma8itzfcdxf1.png?width=1110&format=png&auto=webp&s=3ff23c3d25a33a3da5ba5f4ab5335f309e025ac7

The logs don't indicate that there's a problem. There seems to simply not be any attempt to perform a sync. I'd guess that this is a bug in the GUI.

But there is a workaround. I had noticed that the Library view also has a Settings button under each game, so I decided to try using that instead. So for example, here's my Library view, and you can see Against the Storm has a Settings button under it:

https://preview.redd.it/nlzyj6qrbdxf1.png?width=1477&format=png&auto=webp&s=d0f999bac5b590907f73af86dd7694a6c9c648b9

If I access the game's settings from this display, then cloud sync works! A path is instantly/automatically chosen, I hit sync, and everything seems to work perfectly.

I've observed this happening with all of my games. If I access a game's settings from the Library, then cloud saves sync works. If I access a game's settings from the game's page, then cloud sync does not work: but I can make it work again by just accessing the settings from the library page.

Also, once cloud sync has been enabled successfully for the first time (from the Library), then that seems to permanently fix it; I can then access the cloud sync page from that game's sub-page and everything continues to work for that game.

Pretty easy work-around, but it was a little frustrating since I used the broken method first! Hopefully this gets fixed, and hopefully this post is found by others encountering the same problem

linux native games arent using dedicated gpu but non-native ones are?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26 Oct 2025 - 3:09am

basically the title. Running a game via proton on steam uses dedicated gpu, but running a native one makes it use my integrated one. I don't want to disable my integrated one as I want to use it for stuff like the desktop and basic apps.

I have an nvidia 3050 laptop gpu and run kubuntu. this issue happens with non-steam games as well such as sober, which technically isnt its own game but idc. I have the 580 propritetary driver installed and have the PRIME profiles thing set to preformance, but that did nothing. I installed the drivers via KDE's built-in driver manager

[Indie game] FIRMWARE//LOCKED demo out now!

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 26 Oct 2025 - 2:13am

Hello everyone! 👋

I've posted a few times here before and I'm excited to announce that my new indie psychological horror/CLI simulator game's demo is out!

Me and a small team of indie creators have been working on this for a while. The demo is now fully polished though it may receive 1 more update.

🖥️It's mostly a CLI simulator and psychological/bodyhorror type of game though in the demo there won't be much bodyhorror.

The full game will include cutscenes too, all with original music, art assests & voice acting! (Even now most music and sounds you'll hear are original: minus the main menu music, the type beep, message notification and heartbeat sound. Those are pixabay assets).

💾You can download it on Itch.io!

📝I'm open to feedback (especially about the Itch.io page I'm not sure if it's captivating enough yet)

There will also be a proper trailer video but that requires a lot of art and voice acting to be done so that won't come anytime soon.
