I have MSI GE60 2OE with intel hd 4600 and nvidia 765m and when playing games the laptop hangs (I think I've made a post before about the same issue)
but when looking into Xorg.0.log I found issues related to present flip with the modesetting driver that my intel gpu uses
any help or suggestions are appreciated

Is it important to re-format my games drive from NTFS to Ext4/Btrfs?
I recently installed CachyOS and have had some issues with games not starting on my (former) Windows E drive. I'm not dual booting, but I just thought I could plug and play the drive into Steam on my new install. I did some research and found out that it isn't recommended to boot Steam games from an NTFS drive due to stability issues. I have a lot of games on my drive and it would be a huge pain to reinstall all of them, including some games I emulate. Is it worth biting the bullet and formatting the drive to something like Btrfs? Has anyone else had issues with steam while using an NTFS drive?

So I have seen a lot of recommendations for the gaming part. But what distro would be the best to multistream from OBS as well? I also have a Nvidia RTX 4070 graphics card that factors into this. Any recommendations and why is appreciated. Thanks.

I am using the @virtualization package and following these two guides I found on Github - Guide 1 - Guide 2
I went through both of these guides but as soon as I start the vm my host machine black screens and I am not able to do anything. From my understanding this is expected since the GPU is now being used by the virtual machine.
I also plugged one of my monitor into my iGPU port but I saw that when I start the vm my user gets logged out. When I log back in and open virt-manager I see that the windows is running but I only see a black screen with a cursor when I connect to it.
Could someone please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Steam download speeds absolutely horrendous
This only happens on steam on both the flatpak and native versions - downloads repeatedly crash to individual KB/s sometimes even to 0 making the app almost unusable as it’s impossible to download games. HTTP2 disabled does not make a change. Any help would be appreciated, as all the common fixes I could find do nothing.

Oolite (free space game!)
Oolite was written for the AppleMac back in 2003, but has been greatly improved since. It has also been ported to Windows & Linux.
It is based on Elite) (1984) but with vastly superior graphics and a much more sophisticated game engine. It also has over 1,100 mods ("OXP"s).
The film above was created by Phkb and features a number of these OXPs (see r/Oolite for more).

AMD GPU Default Clock Lower Than on Windows
My RX 7600XT can have a memory clock of up to 2500MHz through AMD Adrenalin, with 2250MHz as a default on Windows.
However, on Linux, these are the power states:
cat /sys/class/drm/card1/device/pp_dpm_mclk 0: 96Mhz 1: 456Mhz * 2: 772Mhz 3: 1124Mhz
Same with CoreCtrl. Only goes up to that. On LACT, however, I can put it up to 2500 and LACT shows the clock as 2200 or 2500 depending on load, but amdgpu_top and CoreCtrl show 1125
It's more than half! I've tried setting the clock manually through commands, but nothing works. I'm on Artix Linux and I'm rather experienced on Linux as well.

Guild Wars 1 (Steam/Proton) only top area is clickable
Hey guys,
in remembrance of good old times and due to the steam summer sale, i got myself guild wars 1 again and encountered a problem after installing and got it to start. Only the top area of the screen/game is clickable (in this case the close and minimize/maximize buttons). I can't click any of the links at the bottom for account creation or even the login fields for email and password - only tabbing through it works, keyboard inputs work without problems.
To run the game, I'm using Proton 5.13.6. My system runs on Garuda Linux (Arch based) and Wayland (Hyprland Desktop).
Has anyone encountered a similar problem, or was able to solve it?

How often should I update Proton?
I just started gaming on linux mint. I know in steam I can go the compatibility section and change my proton version. I ended up using a GE proton version and it seems like hes pumping out versions once every week or so.
If I am using a proton GE version how often should I change to a newer version? If I use the default proton options in steam do you all recommend the stable, experimental or the beta versions?

I'm trying to play Dungeon Siege 3 under proton, and despite the platinum compatibility rating, I'm getting like 5 FPS
I'm wondering what changes I need to make in order to get the game to run smoothly.
I'm sitting on a Ryzen 2600
4070
32 GB RAM
AND the game is installed on an NVMe SSD.
I kinda feel like I'm missing something here, since my computer can handle Cyberpunk, and Dungeon Siege 3 ran like butter when I was on Windows.

How will the future of NTsync look like?
I know the title is a bit clickbait-y, the news coverage about it had been quite misleading to the average user, as it only compared NTsync to no sync technique at all. There were also posts like these that set my expectations really high, but with GE-Proton10-9 making it more accessible to try it for yourself, reality has shown that there is no real performance improvement (in the case for Cyberpunk at least, on my system).
Hell, this benchmark even showed examples where the performance took a nasty hit when compared to fsync, so it's clear that you wouldn't want it to be enabled per default for all games.
However, I read that this list of games apparently very much benefit from NTsync:
- Call of Juarez
- Dirt 3
- Forza Horizon 5
- Total War Saga: Troy
- Metro 2033
- The Crew
- Resident Evil 2
- Anger Foot demo
- Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris
- Tiny Tina's Wonderlands
- Bioshock 1
- Bioshock 2
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 1
Though I play none of these games, so I can't confirm if that's really the case here. If it were to be the case, could we expect per game defaults in the future? It could be realized through the UMU database, for the games that benefit from it.
Or is there even a chance that all games could achieve at least the same performance of fsync?
