EverLive has been released in versions v1.2.1 and v1.2.2.
EverLive is an open-source userspace driver for the AVerMedia Live Gamer 4K (GC573) capture card, letting you play and stream PlayStation 5, Xbox or Switch on the Linux desktop.
Version 1.2.1 fixes HDMI OUT passthrough issues, adds audio blocks to custom EDIDs and introduces a system tray. Version 1.2.2 adds a multi-zone RGB wave, a standby screen when there is no signal and the --tray startup flag.
Changes in version v1.2.1:
HDMI OUT passthrough fix (#48)
- The HDMI OUT port on the IT6664 (TX2) now stays powered and unblanked as soon as the upstream source syncs, instead of waiting for the display to signal hot-plug detect.
- Fixes a deadlock where monitors with auto-input switching withheld hot-plug detect until a clock signal arrived.
- TX2 now mirrors TX1’s pixel clock and applies a port-2 calibration so the video PLL locks reliably.
Custom EDID audio (#47)
- Custom 256-byte EDID files automatically get an audio block with L-PCM, Dolby Digital, and DTS, so consoles don’t grey out bitstream audio options.
- New
--raw-edid(--no-unify-edid) flag keeps the custom EDID bit-for-bit unchanged.System tray and Studio mode
- Closing the window minimizes the Console Hub to the system tray while streaming continues.
- The tray icon menu offers quick actions: open the hub, start/stop gaming screen or Studio, quit.
- Studio/Headless mode works for HDMI passthrough and audio capture without
/dev/video10orv4l2loopback.- The
play.shlauncher detectsv4l2loopbackand prompts for elevated permissions via pkexec when needed.Verified hardware: Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5 at 1440p 60/120 Hz, multi-monitor passthrough, OBS Virtual Camera, and bitstream surround audio.
Changes in version v1.2.2:
- Multi-zone RGB wave: A five-zone traveling color effect across LED segments, with adjustable cycle speed (default 3 seconds), selectable in Control Hub.
- Standby screen: When the HDMI input is disconnected or the console is off, EverLive shows a “NO HDMI SIGNAL” screen at 30 FPS on both SDL and
/dev/video10, so OBS doesn’t freeze on a black frame.- OBS V4L2 rescaling: If OBS locks its capture buffer at a different resolution before EverLive starts, EverLive now rescales frames on the fly.
- OBS source tip: If OBS was started before EverLive, toggle the V4L2 source’s visibility or reselect
/dev/video10in the source properties.- Tray startup flag: New
--tray(or--minimized) option launches EverLive docked in the system tray without opening the main window.
