SaveState: save file backup tool released in version 3.1

SaveState has been released in version v3.1 “The Cloud Linking Update”.

The tool is a user-friendly GUI application for Windows and Linux that lets you back up and restore video game save files, preventing progress loss and keeping saves in sync across multiple devices via cloud storage.

This update focuses on portability and restore reliability: cloud backups can now be downloaded without an existing local profile and linked to the correct save location on the current device, while a new staged restore system validates operations before execution and automatically rolls back on failure.

Cross-Device Cloud Backup Linking: Cloud backups are no longer tied to a profile that already exists on the current device. Downloaded backups can now be linked to the correct local save location, automatically matched to compatible existing profiles, or used to create a brand new local profile. SaveState remembers these links for future operations, using backup metadata to safely identify profiles and their expected save structure - even across different operating systems.

Safer Atomic Restore System: The restore engine now performs a complete preflight check before touching current save data: unsafe archive paths, overlapping destinations, and duplicate payloads are rejected, and backup data is first staged to a temporary location. Only after a successful extraction is the prepared save data moved into place, with automatic rollback if the final replacement fails.

Improved Steam Save Detection: Steam userdata discovery is more reliable on systems with multiple accounts, using additional registry locations, automatic userdata lookup by AppID, and stronger ranking for confirmed Steam Cloud save locations.

Expanded Dolphin Emulator Support: Dolphin profile discovery now covers considerably more configurations across Windows, Linux, and macOS, including portable installations, Flatpak, XDG directories, and legacy paths, with StateSaves correctly attached to the right game profiles.
