Godot 3.6: maintenance version 3.6.3 released

The open-source game engine Godot has received another maintenance version for the older 3.6 branch with 3.6.3.

Alongside 20 bug fixes, the update brings updated platform requirements for Android and iOS as well as newer dependencies.

Godot 3.6.3 is a maintenance release addressing stability and usability issues, and fixing all sorts of bugs. Maintenance releases are compatible with previous releases and are recommended for adoption.

Changes:

  • iOS export: Bumped min. version to 15.0, removed 32-bit code, added min. target export option
  • Android: Default target SDK bumped to 36 per Google Play requirements
  • Networking: mbedTLS updated to version 3.6.7 with entropy source improvements
  • Dependencies: libpng updated to 1.6.58

Notable fixes:

  • Audio: Resolved crackling issues related to WASAPI buffer sizing and device invalidation errors
  • GDScript: Corrected missing function signature hints
  • Rendering: Optimized non-interpolated 2D items and enhanced physics interpolation compatibility with separate-thread rendering
  • iOS Simulator: Fixed x86_64 build compatibility
  • Linux/BSD: Addressed text-to-speech callback deadlock issues
  • Build system: Corrected external recast flag handling and cache management
  • Web: Implemented entropy function for web builds
