The open-source game engine Godot has been released in version 4.7, dubbed “Lights, Camera, Action!” - with over 1,600 merged pull requests from more than 300 contributors.
The release brings HDR output on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Linux (Wayland), a new AreaLight3D node for soft area lighting, and a revamped Asset Store with ratings and zoomable previews. In 2D, the new Scene Paint Mode lets you scatter objects freely without grid constraints; on Android, the GABE build environment is now officially stable.
