Getting a weird visual artifact on Cyberpunk 2077, any tips?

Howdy,

I'm getting a weird visual artifact on Cyberpunk 2077. When I stand still or move in a straight line (any direction) the graphics are perfect - but when i turn (i.e. with the mouse), the visuals stutter in an unusual way. The frame rate doesn't drop and stays at a stable 55ish. It looks like old frames are interleaved with new frames? It creating this really jarring, jitter that almost feels like cross-eyed or something.

Normally I would troubleshoot this myself, but I'm having a lot of trouble actually finding similar issues on google. The words I would use to describe this keep leading me to people who get that that ghosting effect from frame gen tools, or just straight up have unstable / low frame rates.

Hardware:

  • GPU: RTX 5070 Ti
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 9800x3d
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR5
  • Display: MSI G274QPF E2 (2560x1440, 180 Hz, Display Port)

Software:

  • Distro: EndeavourOS
  • Kernel: Linux 6.18.2-arch2-1
  • Driver: nvidia-open-dkms 590.48.01-1
  • CUDA 13.1
  • Proton: proton-experimental

Game settings:

  • VSync 180 hz
  • res: 2560x1440
  • fullscreen
  • HDR: none
  • Nvidia Reflex: on + boost
  • res scaling: off
  • frame gen: off
  • ray tracing: ON, max
  • motion blur: off
  • everything else: ON, max

Turning on frame gen + motion blur smooths things out, but I'm pretty sure that's just post-processing literally blurring out the jitters (not actually fixing the bad frames). None of the other graphics or video settings seem to really effect the jitter.

Would really appreciate any advice here, I'm kind of running low on ideas.
