Linux increases the GHz of my CPU except when it really needs it

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 8 May 2025 - 8:08pm

https://reddit.com/link/1khwx42/video/8cwqixyoklze1/player

I have already tried the solutions that appear in the arch linux guide but none have helped me, maybe I am doing something wrong but honestly I can't think of what else to do, in the video I show some of the solutions that I thought were going to work but didn't. As you can see in the video I am checking the ghz of my cpu with the xfce4 plugin (xfce4-cpufreq-plugin) and I notice that the cpu changes the GHz sometimes but does not go up to 2.10GHz when I am doing tasks that require the entire cpu.

If you need any information that I didn't give in the video, feel free to ask me.

Playing Spore (2008 EA) on Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 8 May 2025 - 7:13pm

Hello All,

I have an issue with Spore running on Linux. I receive a 1004 and 2000 error when launching using ANY proton version.

There are Windows and Linux users which have the same issue as recent as 2021, which involved adding a registry entry for electronic arts, etc and they stated it was now able to run.

I am able to update the system.reg file for the specific game but when I launch the game, the system.reg is restored to it's original clean version.

Does anyone know how to edit the system.reg for a specific game so that it is NOT overwritten as soon as you try to launch the game?

Thanks in advance!

Schedule I on Linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 8 May 2025 - 6:04pm

I'm completely new to Linux and after watching at least a dozen videos i got interested and decided to install Linux Mint on my laptop because i'm too scared to install it to my main pc. I use my pc for only gaming. After installing Linux Mint on my laptop and installing steam through the Software Manager i enabled Steam Play for all other titles, after trying Proton Hotfix, Proton Experimental and Proton 9.0-4 the game still didnt work please help me. When i open Schedule I it launches normally and shows the TVGS loading screen but after that the screen goes black and shows the Schedule I Logo and some kind of install happening, after that the game shuts off.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 8 May 2025 - 5:43pm

Guess roblox is on another point and click adventure for who's cheating on their platform and instead of blaming their shitty anticheat, they are now targeting game launchers and modified clients, anything from sober users so far?

Can't use my controller with monster hunter wilds

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 8 May 2025 - 5:21pm

As for title, I can't figure out how why my controller doesn't work with monster hunter wilds. I can use it for any other game (including monster hunter world), but it refuses to work with this one.

My OS is opensuse tumbleweed, and this is the system package steam. I have already tried switching proton versions with hotfix, experimental or 9.0; enabling/disabling steam input, or using a community layout.
The controller is a dualsense, which I have tried connecting either with bluetooth or with the usb cable, but neither work.

Can anyone help? I don't know what diagnostics or logs would be relevant in this case

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 8 May 2025 - 5:19pm

But if they are pirated... will they work?

I wanna download a few games but got slow internet so i will only download it if the answer to my question is true

Gnu grub version 2.06 steamdeck without windows 11

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 8 May 2025 - 3:44pm

So I just cloned my 500GB SSD to a new 2TB SSD on my Steam Deck. After hours of troubleshooting, I finally got things working-or so I thought. Now I'm running into a new issue. Every time I boot up, I get this message: "GNU GRUB version 2.06"

The weird part? I don't even have Windows 11 set up as a dual boot. What l've been doing to temporarily fix it is holding down the power button, hitting the three dots, and selecting

"Previous SteamOS version." That seems to get my Deck running normally again... until the GRUB error returns after shutting down. Has anyone run into this? What's the fix to stop this from happening permanently

debian based distro with more updates

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 8 May 2025 - 3:20pm

Edit:pikaOS seems like the answer

i recently nuked my partition table(i think) but since i was using dual boot i just stayed on windows and waited for enough free time to fix the fucker. now, i have a 4tb m2 ssd which was where debian was located (windows is on multiple smaller ssds as i got a great discount on the 4tb without knowing and need the space) im torn between just using debian stable again or using smth debian based with less time between updates.

my requirements:

-not arch -debian based(i dont fw arch) -nvidia drivers get updated(idk if thats possible but that would be goated) -not arch

my specs (if i remember right)

-rtx3060ti -ryzen 5 5600g -16gb ram -about 7-8tb total storage please be nice if you havent noticed i have no idea what im doing

Steam Link black screen?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 8 May 2025 - 3:14pm

I noticed that I keep randomly getting a black screen when using Steam link (mobile app, I don’t have Steam link hardware). The games themselves are running fine on my PC, but the stream to my phone shows a black screen sometimes.

I’m using Bazzite, I have 3 monitors. CPU: 5600X GPU: 9070XT

Any ideas?

In the survivorlike ARPG 'Conquest Dark' you start off nude and build up clothing as you go with multi-life mechanics

Gaming on Linux - 8 May 2025 - 2:08pm
Just what the survivorlike bullet heaven genre thingy needed - nudity! Conquest Dark from Eldritch Sword Games actually has quite a number of fun game mechanics worth exploring, the nudity is optional but it has a point.
