Not sure if I'm late or not, I tried to play WuWa yesterday, at first I can't play because of the anti-cheat, and right now the proton-ge just got an update, I changed it, and it seems playable now.

Looking for help. Games suddenly crashing

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 4 Jul 2025 - 12:30pm

After more than a month i am done...i am not experienced enough to fix it on my own.

I build a new desktop PC in February and everything was just fine until end of may.

Asus ROG STRIX B650E-F gaming wifi
32 GB corsair vengeance
AMD 9800 X3D
XFX SWFT 319 AMD Radeon™ RX 6800 - 16 GB
Pop!_OS now i switched to Bazzite, so i dont have to hard reset after every crash.
Mesa drivers are up to date

2D Games are still no problem, but „Sea of Thieves“ or „Jedi: Fallen Order“ are crashing almost immediately now.

I tried a lot of different proton versions from 6.x to experimental, to GE 10-8
Sometimes -dx11 let’s me play for a couple of hours, but it’s not guarantied.

Your help is really appreciated, at this point i am really fed up with this.
The proton logs can be found here (~ 1 mb... like i said, it crashes right after game start)
and maybe wine log explorer can be helpful

Thank you so much

MO2 error

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 4 Jul 2025 - 12:28pm

I am trying to install mod organizer 2 for Fallout New Vegas on my Mint pc, i have done it succesfully 3 times with fallout 4 before, but now, when i try to run the ./install.sh command in the folder on the terminal it always says the same error: "STEAM DIRECTOR NOT FOUND"
I do have steam director folders inside the folder for installation, one thing that could be happening to contribute to this, is that i deleted my steam folder and had to redownload steam and all games again.
And before anyone asks, yes, i have tried with sudo.
Any clue to what and how to fix this?

Dune: Awakening using integrated graphics/ not recognizing GPU

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 4 Jul 2025 - 11:42am

Hey! I know there's a post about a similar issue on here, suggesting the creation of a `dxvk.conf` and providing the path to that config file in the launch options. It's currently set up like this:

DXVK_CONFIG=¨/home/pasu/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/DuneAwakening/DuneSandbox/Binaries/Win64/dxvk.conf¨ %command%

With its contents being:

dxgi.hideNvidiaGpu = False

Sadly enough, this doesn't seem to work for me. When I start up the game it shows me the "GPU drivers our of date"-dialog with the details of my onboard graphics. Is there any way of properly debugging this? I'm somewhat new to Linux + Fedora (only switched OS yesterday) so I'd love to figure this out properly :'D

What is the best method for limiting FPS for best frame pacing (30fps)?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 4 Jul 2025 - 10:11am

I know of Gamescope, Mangohud and DXVK to limit FPS, alongside a game’s internal limit.

By what I’ve been able to gather in my own experience, nearly every game even to this day has an absolutely abysmal built in 30fps limiter with terrible pacing (Oblivion Remastered and FFXVI are two games I’m playing right now that just have awful frame pacing). I usually completely ignore if a game has a built in cap.

Gamescope has so far been nearly flawless for me, perfect pacing but some games seem a little rowdy with it sometimes (FFXVI I see often just going over 30fps despite the cap, maybe an Steam beta update broke it because I wasn’t getting that behaviour in the demo version a few days ago before I switched to the beta to get full functionality on my controller). It also has a much bigger toll on input lag than everything else I’ve tried but that doesn’t bother me much in most games.

Mangohud seems to have quite a lot worse pacing than Gamescope with some stutter but much better than any built in cap I’ve used. Better input lag than Gamescope but I don’t think it’s better overall.

DXVK I’ve never used outside Windows, so I’d like to hear opinions on this.

Are there any better methods or is the SteamOS Gamescope built in method the only one that actually has a completely paced cap?

Problem with window and authentication in Ankama Launcher (Heroic/Lutris)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 4 Jul 2025 - 10:05am

Hey guys.
I am currently using CachyOS with KDE, and came from PopOS with Gnome in order to try different things.
I used to play Dofus/Ankama Launcher with Lutris/Heroic then, but now I am having two problems:
- As you can see, the windows is kinda weird compared with the "in app" windows. Additionally, the "click" zone is above than my mouse, which makes me thing that it could be related as well with the windows problem.
- Once I try to connect to my account, I am not moved back to the client with the valid response. I also tried different navs and happened the same.

Does anyone have a hint where I could start solving this? I am really lost because I do not know what could be happening and I am kinda lost.

Thank you guys

Steam Games not working

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 4 Jul 2025 - 9:04am

Hello,

Since yesterday no Steam games are running. Games that start with Wine (Lutris) work perfectly. I started Steam via the termianl and noticed an entry (pid 38393 != 38382, skipping destruction (fork without exec?)

). I haven't found a solution yet.
