Hello, the A50 ist relatively cheap via Amazon Prime at the moment and I heared almost only positive from it. Is someone using it with Linux? How good does it work?

Trying to fix an audio issue freezing randonmly, i already update my Bios, but no changes. I look up for a solution and find that i need to change a setting in the bios called "Power Supply Idle Control" but couldnt find it(my motherboard is a ASRock B550M Pro4). the last solution i could try is change to an old kernel but my only question is if how much of security risks could i have if downgrade to an old kernel.

Hello. I am not new to Linux or my distro (NixOS) but for the life of me, I can't figure out why I have so many problems with gaming. \ When my system gets under some what heavy load in games like RDR2, it won't take long before it just freezes my entire PC, and a reboot is needed. And if I'm just playing a lighter game like Rocket League my PC will experience the same freeze after 30 minutes to an hour. \ It could be that my system is using all my RAM or perhaps getting very hot, but ideally this would just bottleneck performance, not cripple the entire system. \ On Windows my PC doesn't freeze, like described. \

I looked in journalctl but it's just so filled with information that I couldn't find anything I thought was useful.

Hey all!

I'm playing F.E.A.R. 1 on my Steam Deck right now. The game was installed via Heroic with no additional tweaks, mods etc. F.E.A.R. will play with no errors or glitches so far for me but I just noticed it's really dark in some areas although gamma is set to the max:

I already noticed this behavior in Max Payne 1 (installed via Lutris with the original CD and no additional mods/tweaks) and Deus Ex GOTY (installed via heroic, like F.E.A.R.) and can't find a proper solution.

Does anyone of you know a fix for that or what causes it?

So, right now I have windows 11. I have 2 questions about cachyos. First one is, is it ok not to use rufus or balena etcher? And the second one is, won’t my windows break? I have desaprated disk through disk managment. But I’m afraid that cachyos will apply on my main disk, and not the second one, who is made for linux.

So I'm planning to get started on Linux in a month and I'm slowly learning of all the things and taking notes along the way for a smoother transition without any hiccups, so in terms of gaming what would be some tools or apps or maybe command lines you usually guys usually use to optimize the system or for productivity use cases?

In terms of details about the system, I'm planning on bazzite distro with full amd build (Ryzen 5 5600x, rx6800xt), primary use being purely gaming, maybe some document works or Excel sheets or a maximum of power point presentations and that's it, I think libre office counts for all that and bazzite comes with heroic launcher, wine, proton and lutris and other stuffs necessary for all the compatibility ig.

Some things I'm really confused is setting wine or lutris or bottles up, maybe I'll figure it out on the way ig, but if you could shed some light on that then that would be a really good help for me!

Hello! This is the announcement trailer for my upcoming game - CastleOn.

CastleOn is a turn-based single player strategy game where you build a castle and defend it from enemy siege. There are over 50 missions split among economic and military campaign, an additional 50 skirmish maps where you get to do anything you want without restrictions, and a custom editor to make your own skirmish map or a campaign.

Game takes place in late 12th century, starting from reign of Baldwin the Leper king, through the Third Crusade and into the early Livonian crusade. You get to play all the sides of these conflicts and can build units like Knights Templar, Teutonic Knights, Mamluks, Varangian Guards, Seljuk Horse Archers and many more.

There is a research system with over 90 upgrades, making each run unique. Every game you get to choose one of the 5 religions (optional, can be turned off) with 10 special abilities in each. There is also a criminal system where you can instantly get large benefits at the cost of corruption which decreases your resource gain and provides a variety of debuffs.

Game was developed on Linux (libgdx) and works natively (and on lower end computers as well).

Hi all. I usually use Windows but my friend/roommate has set her pc up to the tv so we can play games/watch shows etc. It runs Ubuntu and we've tried to make some various emulators work before but to minimal promise.

The steam release of Retroarch wouldn't register the ROMs I had, and Final Burn Neo was hallucinating a Windows file structure (And couldn't register the ROMs I had). The ROMs were from the FBNeo full non-merged collection on Internet Archive.

Right after I post this, I'm going to go try setting up this slimmed-down set of options and if that's still no-dice I'll come back for yalls suggestions. Any help is appreciated!

Hey r/linux_gaming,

After getting into Rocket League recently, I wanted a clean way to play the Epic version on my Steam Deck without having to interface with another launcher.

While tools like Heroic and Legendary are excellent for managing your Epic library, I designed Slipstream with a more targeted goal: to be the simplest possible way to get Rocket League into Steam, skipping other launchers entirely.

So, I built a small, open-source tool in Go called Slipstream. It's a single, native binary with zero dependencies that just handles the Epic authentication and launches the game directly.

It's designed with Linux in mind:

• For Setup: Run the native Linux binary (./Slipstream) once. It'll ask you to find your existing game installation (from Heroic, etc.) and then handle the one-time browser login.
• To Play: Add the Windows Slipstream.exe to Steam as a non-Steam game, force Proton, and launch. It picks up the config you made and starts the game with full Steam Overlay and controller support.

It also provides an easy way to handle multiple accounts without needing to sign out and back in to any launcher.

hello. few weeks ago i got myself Civ Iv on Steam. Game works wonderful via proton. Just like ProtonDB says.

I saw that Civ III is on sale now and ProtonDB is not helping me a lot. Its about 50% does game works or not...

so i wonder would reddit help me out. SO Question is - anyone run Sid Meier's Civilization® III Complete

Since a month some games, Cyberpunk and Borderlands 3 are freezing for up to 4 seconds multiple times a minute. Other games are working fine.
How would I go and start to debug this. My journalctl shows now errors. To only thing I see is that the freezes in cyberpunk correlates with this log:
info:vkd3d-proton:vkd3d_pipeline_library_disk_thread_main: Pipeline cache marked dirty. Flush is scheduled.

info:vkd3d-proton:vkd3d_pipeline_library_disk_thread_main: Flushing disk cache (wakeup counter since last flush = 16). It seems like application has stopped creating new PSOs for the time being.

And this only appeared recently before it was not happening. And I found nothing similar online.
I am using CachyOS, with mesa-git and a rx 9070 xt
