Can i get banned in Wuthering Waves, now that it works on Proton-GE-10.8?
I've seen a lot of people succeeding to launch the game with GE Proton on ProtonDB, but is it bannable? I really don't want to risk my account.

My Linux Journey
I remember coming across an article about Windows 10’s impending end-of-life and how Linux has evolved to the point where it even outperforms Windows in some gaming scenarios. Since my PC can run Windows 11, the support cutoff wasn’t a major concern for me but the claims about Linux’s gaming improvements definitely got me interested.
After spending hours on YouTube and realizing just how many distros were available (which only added to the confusion), I grabbed my Ventoy USB and set off on my first Linux adventure.
I know the Linux community can be passionate about their favorite distros, so apologies if I offend anyone. Every distro has its strengths, and I’m just sharing my personal experience.
Linux Mint (Distro #1)Linux Mint was smooth and familiar, intuitive enough that I could jump right in, install packages, and update without much hassle. But something felt missing. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a solid distro, perfect for beginners, but I wanted more. A few more searches led me to…
Pop!_OS (Distro #2)Pop!_OS felt fresh, like a breath of fresh air after Windows. The design had a slight macOS vibe (albeit a bit dated), but I didn’t mind since it was marketed as a gaming friendly distro. At first, it was great, but over time, it started feeling sluggish.
Back to research mode. I began learning about different distro bases such as Debian, Fedora, Arch and how they compare in terms of updates, stability, and performance. I wish I could find that one jpg image that perfectly summarized the differences, but here’s how I remember and understood it:
- Debian-based (Ubuntu, Linux Mint):
- Focused on stability, LTS kernels.
- Slower updates, older packages/drivers.
- Reliable
- Fedora-based (Fedora, Nobara, Bazzite):
- Major updates twice a year.
- A balance between stability and newer packages.
- The sweet spot in the middle.
- Arch-based (Arch, Manjaro, EndeavourOS, Garuda, CachyOS):
- Rolling release , always up to date.
- Latest packages and drivers, but higher chance of breakage.
- The latest and greatest
With that in mind, I decided to try the middle ground first.
Bazzite (Distro #3)Bazzite is a fantastic distro for beginners and gamers it is pre-configured, immutable (core system files are read-only), and hard to break. But that immutability was also why I moved on, I didn’t like the idea of restricted system files.
Nobara (Distro #4)Nobara sounded perfect a gaming optimized, non-immutable and Fedora based. Unfortunately, my screen refused to turn on after the first boot. Not in the mood for troubleshooting a brand new install, I moved on.
Fedora 42 (Distro #5)Why mess with spins when I can go straight to the source. Fedora was excellent it is stable, polished, and a great middle ground between fresh packages and reliability. I stayed here longer than any previous distro. But then… the distro-hopping bug bit me again.
CachyOS (Distro #6)CachyOS lived up to its "blazing fast" slogan. I broke it a few times while learning about AUR packages, but it impressed me with its custom kernels, one click gaming setups, and overall speed. If you want a great Arch-based distro with training wheels, this is it. But my curiosity pushed me forward.
Garuda (Distro #7)Gaming-optimized, but very bloated. The flashy aesthetics might appeal to some, but it wasn’t for me.
Manjaro (Distro #8)Manjaro was great, Pamac (GUI package manager) was the best that i had used, making AUR access effortless. Fast, user friendly, and a solid Arch-based option. Some criticize its delayed updates, but Timeshift can save you if things go wrong. Still… I kept exploring.
EndeavourOS (Distro #9)EndeavourOS offers a near-vanilla Arch experience with a GUI installer. I didn’t stay long because I figured at this point if I’m going to set things up manually anyway, why not go straight to Arch?
Arch Linux (Distro #10 – Final Stop?)This is my fourth day on Arch. I will not lie I broke my dual boot, reinstalled three times, but now that everything is running, I beleive i have found what I was looking for. Building my system from scratch, adding only what I want (no bloat), and pulling in the best features from other distros (yes, I even installed Pamac for AUR management sorry, Arch purists). I also installed yay as a backup should Pamac get hairy. That’s the beauty of Arch you always have options.
This whole journey started about 3-4 months ago, and Linux has given me a nostalgic thrill that reminds me of tinkering with Windows 95 back in the day.
For anyone thinking about jumping into the linux world:
- Try different distros. There’s is no "best" one just the one that fits you.
- Don’t fear breaking things. It’s part of the learning process.
- Google & AI are your friends. 95% of issues can be solved there.
- Timeshift & Snapper are lifesavers. You can never really break your system with the option to always roll back.
One last thing, i suppose I can finally say it…
I use Arch BTW!

Jumping to Linux; a specific question.
Like a lot others, with the end of support of Win10 I'm considering to jump finally to Linux. I've been curious of it for a long time but with gaming as my main pastime and use of my pc I was reluctant for the limitations it had. "Had" being the operating term for what I've come to understand.
So, you can now play a lot of things on Linux. I know a lot of multiplayers and their anticheat still don't work but I don't care at all about those games, I play almost exclusively singleplayer. Ok, normal gaming covered.
But what about modding?
This is the reason of my inquiry. I mod a lot. I've been modding games since Half Life times or wads for Doom. Modding is very important for me and I want to know how is handled in Linux, from the use of mod managers to the simple drag and drop of archives. How is the situation in that front?

Is jumping into Arch good
In a few days I’m going to be installing Arch on my laptop. I have confirmed it should run so I’m not worried about that. I know there are distro’s made for gaming, but I use my PC for all kinds of things, and I want to jump into the deep end. I’m planning on using KDE Plasma as my desktop environment. I’m mostly posting this so that if there’s anything big I’m doing wrong someone can tell me.
Edit:
For more information, it’s an ASUS TUF Dash F15, with an RTX 3060 Laptop gpu. I have 64 gb of Ram and I will be dual booting windows with an internal 512 GB ssd and linux with a 4 TB external ssd. I’ve played around with Fedora on an old laptop before and have used an Ubuntu server for work.

Bought Minecraft on MS Store. Can I play it on Linux?
Basically I have both versions of Minecraft purchased on my Microsoft account. I'm getting a new laptop on Linux. Is there a way to play Minecraft Java there with the license I bought? Is it Windows exclusive? Or should I just use a free launcher?
Thanks in advance.

Looking to build a rig for all out Linux gaming, what part combos work best?
Good day, I am looking to build a gaming and general use PC with Linux on it (sticking to Ubuntu and/or Mint for this) and I have a question. Which CPU and GPU combination works easiest and trouble-free for Linux?
In my research and by checking out other Linux builds, I believe that an All AMD build works best but I'm leaning towards an All Intel PC build with the B580. It's for predominantly 1440P High-Ultra gaming and the titles I play are Far Cry 6, Ride 5, Need For Speed Unbound, Dying Light 2, the Tomb Raider series, Cyberpunk and then some.
After doing some checks, this is a finalised CPU+GPU combo I plan on whitelisting, please let me know which combination works best and if I have to tweak any part.
1) Ryzen 7 9700X+RX9070
2) Core Ultra 7 265K+Arc B580
Also do I need to enter any extra lines in Terminal/install extra packages beyond the Steam file on the Software Installer store? Also how do we force games into running Vulkan/OpenGL only for games?

Vinegar does not launch Roblox Studio correctly, advice wanted.
This is a recent thing, Vinegar was working perfectly up until now, and nothing changed. I am running pop os, and wine 9. Whenever I launch Roblox studio on Vinegar, it just shows the Roblox Studio loading window, but nothing actually happens. I have renewed all the packages, and reinstalled everything wine adjacent, including sober. The config only tells it to render using Vulkan and to disable dxvk, and I have also tried to run without any arguments at all. I will attach the image of the problem. This is the attached Vinegar log https://pastebin.com/1GATyhtd
edit: forgot to add image

Bazzite or Nobara for HTPC?
So I’ve recently revived an old PC with a i7 7700 and a GTX 1060 6gb. Currently got Mint Cinnamon on it, absolutely loving it but thinking of making it a HTPC for the living room. Just have a few queries.
If I want an experience closest to a Steam Deck, which one should I go for? Both seem to offer Steam Gaming Mode
How is Nvidia support for both? Especially for the older 10 series cards?
Also, how different are both of them?

SSD Partitioning: Win11 for Anti-Cheat Games & Bazzite for anything else?
Hello guys, I'm wondering if I should split my SSD into two partitions (one for Win11 and one for Bazzite) because I'd like to test out Linux. However, games like R6, which don't run on Linux at all, are something I play often, and I don't want to miss out if I switch. Do you think it would be worth it, performance-wise and otherwise?
