Would Anti-Cheats like easy anti cheat and battle eye run on Linux if i set them up in a Windows VM? I was thinking about switching to Linux but i occasionaly play such games with my friends.

Hi!

So this is for the 2 people who maybe attempted to play this mod on Linux. I don't want to start X11 vs Wayland war, please don't make the comment section a war zone. So, if you attempted to play this mod with Dark Souls 2, you may experienced the same thing as me. Performance monitors showing 60 fps in game with smooth frame time, but the game was choppy after you installed the mod. Switch to X11, it will work perfectly with the mod. I'm on a full AMD PC, and i tested the mod in KDE-Wayland. The mod will stutter if you using Wayland, same thing with GNOME. KDE, Cinnamon, XFCE, Budgie with X11 works fine with this mod.

I hope this helped for 2 people at least :)

So i installed gzdoom deb version and it shows an error that it cant find any IWADs and first place them in the config folder. but, the error continues even after doing that. after a bit of searching, i used command lines to force gzdoom to run the wads but the error still comes up
same problem happens with the flatpak version

Dear community, I am having difficulties with an old game that doesn't want to run, Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed from the year 2000.

I got the installer from myabandonware.com and I install it via Lutris, all goes well, but when I launch it I get an error message saying something lilke "you have DirectX 0 and you need DirectX 7 for this game" and I can click options "yes" or "no" (??) and the game then exits.

Has anybody found a reliable way to play old DirectX 7 titles?

In dialogues, during loading screens, including the one going into main menu, during movement on locations. Without rhyme or reason. Used Proton Hotfix, 9 and 10, tried window mode, tried different graphical settings -- nothing helps. Game can work fine for five minutes, or freeze every five steps taken, only to go on fine after a few reloads. When the game freezes, sound still goes on undistorted and the game does not close itself, requiring killing the process. Another thing is, when alt-tabbing or otherwise switching to another window the game reliably freezes about 9 times out of 10.

I'm using Linux Mint, with a Lenovo Laptop that is well above recomended requirments. Since the laptop has 12th gen intel CPU, I thought that might be the issue, like it was with Titanfall 2 for me, but using the string of launch attributes that fixed TF 2 for me did nothing for Disco Elysium (the string being: "OPENSSL_ia32cap=~0x20000000 %command%." without brackets)

Hello r/linux_gaming !

I’ve been replaying this masterpiece lately and decided to push things even further...
so I installed a new ultra-realism mod to make the whole experience even more immersive.

The visuals, the atmosphere, the small details… everything feels way more alive now.

My OS is GNU Guix with custom kernel linux 6.18-rc6.
