No mans sky won’t start
New mint install. I have compatibility checked and set to proton 9.0-4. The first time I tried to run it did something with Vulcan shaders for 30 min but never launched. When I click play again it looks like it’s trying then goes back to the play button. Never starts.

BeamNG crashes on most distros besides 2 (on my new laptop)
My laptop is a HP Victus 15 with i5 12450h and RTX 3050 16GB ram.
On most distros BeamNG works great on high~ultra settings untill when I load a race with AI or spawn AI traffic then it crashes with a "Steam closed due to memory shortage" notification.
Only 2 distros where it works flawlessly is funnily MX linux and LMDE which both are using old kernel (6.1) and old Nvidia driver (535)
It also worked on Pop OS without crashing but very choppy low FPS so I don't count it.
I tried everything from Nobara and Bazzite to Mint and Ubuntu. (and like 5 others)
Always installed steam from repository (except ubuntu where I tried snap)
Tried with steam's Proton and also GE
I'm down to a point where I don't mind daily driving LMDE but I wonder why does it work so good with old kernel and old drivers and not on a Distro made for gaming.
I also play MSFS2020 and It work very nice and most distros, but I don't want to give up BeamNG

CS2 Stretched res?
I'm on NixOS and I've been trying to run CS2, on 4:3 1024x768 on fullscreen. I can do that just fine, but... It changes my monitors resolution to 1024x768 and back down to 60hz. How can I run 4:3 and have it stretch to 1920x1080?
I have a 4060ti, using plasma 6, and my monitors a ASUS vg248qe
Any help?

How do people overclock/undervolt their cards on Linux?
I'm using Arch and just bought a 9070xt. I haven't played around with this kind of tweaking on Linux but am pretty used to MSI Afterburner. I tried downloading core ctrl but didn't really see how to change the clock or voltage settings. Any tips for figuring this out? Would love to undervolt my card.

Should game developers be encouraged by valve to test their games using proton?
Since proton is becoming really good these past few years. Should valve offer some sort of incentive for developers to test their games and updates using proton to verify stability rather then targeting native Linux versions? (Native ports should be the priority) If so what incentives should valve offer? Maybe a better cut for developers 25 percent instead of 30 for example. Anyone have better ideas?

Steam games not capturing mouse since last Nobara update
Do Bottlenecked systems run worse on Linux?
I'm a Linux newbie running Mint cinnamon on an i5 7400 with an RTX 2060. I know it's a fairly bottlenecked system but it ran fine on windows. I haven't tried many games, but Overwatch runs on 120 fps avg with terrible 1% lows. Mangohud shows near 100% cpu usage almost always. I've Tried Proton Experimental/GE/9. checked for cpu performance mode. Gamemode is showing the errors that it couldnt change the parameters for ioprio and splitlock mitigate. Are Bottlenecks just worse with Proton/Linux?

Nvidia 4060 Ti is showing a low GLMARK2 score.
Specs:
- GPU: RTX 4060 Ti
- CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
- RAM: 2 x 8GB DDR4 3200 MHz
- Storage: 512GB NVMe SSD
On the OpenBenchmarking site, the GLMARK2 score for the RTX 3060 Ti at 1080p is over 8000. When I run the same test at 1080p, my 4060 Ti scores around 4133, and after repeating the test several times, the average stays around 4100.
Based on this result, could this mean I’m getting lower-than-expected performance in games through Lutris?
For example, in Elden Ring, I’m running with these settings:
- Ray Tracing: Max
- Graphics: Max
- Resolution: 2880x1620 (using the GameScope_Nvidia package, even though my monitor is 1080p)
- Average FPS: around 30–40 in OpenWorld
Should I be expecting better performance with this hardware?
Or is the GLMARK2 score not really a good indicator for real gaming performance?

Reshade Full Addon support + Oblivion Remastered
So I have installed it by adding as a non-steam game and using this RESHADE_ADDON_SUPPORT=1 ./reshade-linux.sh.
And when I load game I get a black world but I can see the UI, menu when I go into it, most of the character creation shows and I hear music. If ./reshade-linux.sh which install the non-full addon support reshade it loads perfect and I can see everything.
Only really need it for RenoDX.

Do I have any hope with the Steam Controller?
I'm new to all this, I'm trying to get my steam controller to work with steam input, trackpad as mouse, rest of the controller as gamepad input.
All I get is gamepad input working, no mouse scru action.
This is in Blue Prince, it worked when I was gaming on windows...
Any ideas?

Linux VRR on a TV with a 9070XT, what can I expect?
Sadly the TV (LG QNED85) only has hdmi Ports so I can’t use DisplayPort. I’d like to play at 4K, but I’m fine with 60hz if that still allows me to use the full range (<20hz-120hz,but 60hz is fine as long as the lower bound is still less than 48hz, since the tv has low frame rate compensation according to Rtings). I’m also wondering if I could have most games in 4K but have the 20-120hz vrr window if I wanted to play something in 1080p or 1440p.

Wayland is still not usable on my nvidia laptop
So for the past year I've been testing different DEs, with different distros and different versions of each DE.
My current setup is a external monitor connected to my laptop which has an internal 2560x1600 display (which requires fractional scaling to be usable)
This all is using the nvidia graphics card as the discrete GPU
So far, GNOME 48 on Wayland has FPS drops if i enable fractional scaling for the internal display, so I have to keep fractional scaling off. Even considering this, the system usually crashes after some minutes of use and requires a full restart
KDE 6.3 on Wayland has the same FPS drops if I enable fractional scaling. On top of that, whenever I'm using my laptop alone without the external monitor, the fps is uneven and hovers around 120fps when my monitor supports up to 240hz
I haven't tested Hyprland yet but I will try it in the future
At the moment I'm just using X11 on Cinnamon. It works just fine and feel as smooth as Windows is on my computer. I will really keep an eye on Wayland development and definitely not buy another nvidia laptop in the future.

Modded Minecraft IS possible. Modding on Linux is as easy as Windows.
Basically what the title says!
A friend of mine got me a Steam Deck as a birthday gift and this thing is awesome!
I don't understand tho why people claim modding on Linux is difficult, so far I have modded: Minecraft in like 10 minutes, thanks to Prism Launcher it was absurdly easy to do so, no M&K needed.
Fallout New Vegas: easy as crap, just drag and drop and done
Bannerlord: same, easy as hell just drag and drop in the modules folder
GTA SA: absurdly easy to mod
What do you guys think?
PSA: Image quality is done on purpose to show off that it works on the Steam Deck and Linux in general!

Input lag difference between Gnome and KDE?
For some time now I've been doing performance measurements between games on Windows 11 and on Fedora 42 Workstation (Gnome).
Recently I found out that Gnome has something of a built-in vsync, which adds even more input latency on top of the translation layer from Proton.
I am not really a fan of KDE, so I'd like to know if there's something to be done about this on Gnome, or if I should just wait for some new fix/feature, that will drop soon and will fix the input lag?
And to anyone saying that the difference in input latency is negligible - no, it's not negligible, it can definitely be felt and even measured (slow-mo footage and measure the time between my finger pressing the key and the action occurring on-screen)

CS2 Crashes Instantly
Here is a pastebin with a Terminal Log and System Specs: https://pastebin.com/ScqnAeVF
Hey there, yesterday after re-installing the OS because of this same issue it has happened again. I was able to play fine last night and today the game just crashes. It seems to be any type of Source Engine game because Marvel Rivals and Elden Ring launch fine.
Can anyone provide some insight onto why this is happening?
Thank you!

Minecraft Bedrock Edition
Hey r/linux_gaming
I primarily play on Minecraft Bedrock Edition due to all of my friends also playing it. Since I'm switching to Linux Mint, I have a few questions.
I know it's possible to play BE on Linux, but all the installation processes I've seen are from a couple years back, so I don't know if it's changed at all.
How will connectivity with friends be?
I have backed up my worlds on Google Drive, will I be able to import them on Linux BE without issue?
I heard that BE on Linux is using the Android version, will this cut off my access to Vibrant Visuals?
Thanks.

Pirated game with steamfix doesn't run after system update
A few days ago I installed a pirated copy of Crusader Kings III on my arch linux desktop and it worked just fine and I could join my friends' games without any problems. I ran the game via the heroic games launcher using proton-experimental and steam runtime. Yesterday I ran a routine system maintenance update and now no matter what I try I get this error message:
I'm a bit clueless as to what this means and all the solutions I found didn't work so far. What could have caused this? I changed nothing since I last played the game and other games launch without issues.
Any advice would be appreciated.
P.S: I'm using hyprland if that helps
