Games freeze/crash when I switch windows or start screen sharing.
Hello, I've recently switched to Linux Mint from Windows. I'm pretty new to quite everything Linux has to offer since I've used Windows since Vista.
I installed the latest NVDIA drivers from the "Driver Manager" Mint offers(I've installed nvidia-driver-575-open). When I first started playing/testing games I had no issues, the games run smooth. I've first tried PEAK, Stardew Valley and Mini Motorways since they were not very big to install. (I've played these games for more than an hour each without issues)
Currently I'm having a few issues. As I said in the tile some games started to freeze/crash. I first noticed this after I've installed Red Dead Redemption 2. In the pause menu or sometimes while playing the game started to freeze (without unfreezing so I thought it crashed). At first I thought I was running out of VRAM (I've list my specs down below but I have 4 GB VRAM). Later when I played PEAK the game also started to crash when I switched between tabs. PEAK also crashes when I start to share my screen on Discord. I noticed this behavior also happens on Mini Motorways which is not that resource intensive so I was skeptical on it being a hardware issue.
My laptop specs:
- CPU: Intel i5 11400H
- GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3050 Ti (mobile) 4 GB VRAM
- RAM: 32 GB DDR4
- STORAGE: 2 TB SSD

Interesting behavior of EA!
Hello everyone!
Recently I wanted to play titanfall 2(it has gold rating on protondb) on my arch linux system.
The game only launches if I put PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% as launch options, but doing this results in horrifying low fps. If I remove the launch options, I got the EA - Activate your Game window.
If I input my credentials I get another error "We could not activate ..."
Thank you for your assistance!

12k Lines Of NVIDIA Blackwell 3D Class Header Files Open-Sourced
I would like to hear what distro would fit my use case?
I need some advice on which distro to choose.
I'm a very light gamer, maybe once a month, but I would like to game a bit for fun with my son at times, particularily C&C Generals Zero Hour.
At the same time I need to run a desktop with various VM's with a decent frame rate, around 24 fps or more. One VM will have Windows, another will have Rocky Linux and then there will be others. I like Virtual Machine Manager that I tried with Rocky Linux, that is really nice, but Rocky Linux like the rest of the RHEL branch have dperecated QXL and Spice, so I can't get high frame rates on the VM's.
I don't like Debian branch so much, in my experience it's unstable and I've tried a lot of Debian distros.
I'm not so sure about immutable OS's if it's secure as I guess large parts of the os will not be updated and I wouldn't like to reinstall every year. So, at least the barebones install I think I would prefer not to be immutable.
I would like to hear your opinion about it.

Help Launching Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain
I have been trying to run MGSV. The game will launch, but I won't get any window or audio. If I check htop, I see that the game is "running," so it isn't instantly crashing or anything. I've tried several different proton versions based on what was recommended on protondb (GE, Experimental, 10.0-1, 9.0-4, etc.) and none of them seem to make a difference. Has anyone run into this issue before and found a workaround? Extra info below

Effulgence RPG works on Proton
(I am one of the playtesters and I actually liked it, that's why I am posting here)
From the start of the promotion of this game, I loved how the graphics have been beautifully made.
There will be a link to the Steam Page. You can wishlist it on Steam. Keep in mind that this is the first playtest, so please inform the creator if any error occurs from the side of Proton.

Which distros (non-immutable) still work with Xone drivers?
Does anyone know which distros currently work with Xone drivers? This is the driver required to have a functional Xbox One wireless dongle successfully connect to Xbox one controllers.
I've tried several distros but gave up on them after spending hours and hours trying to get these drivers to work. The most recent update I've found is that the drivers are out of date and only work with a specific Linux kernal version.
However... I did give a try to Bazzite which is an immutable distro because I'd heard the Xone drivers work out of the box. And they do, which is great! However, I eventually want to move to a mutable linux distro and I'm basically looking for one that works with these drivers, if it's even still possible.
Any advice?

OpenGamePadUi & Gamescope
Hi,
I would like to achieve something similar to the game mode of SteamOS but in a free and open source manner, i dont have a Steam Deck but i watched youtube videos on how it works and there are two separate modes, you have the game mode and the desktop mode i would like to achieve the same results on my Manjaro distro.
I dont know exactly how to achieve this but i have read how Valve does this and it has something to do with gamescope now i installed opengamepadui-bin which also automatically installs gamescope i also installed as optional firejail, powerstation and brightnessctl which i think you probably also need.
I would like to explain what i want to achieve the game mode would be similar to game mode of SteamOS but instead of loading up the Steam UI it should load up OpenGamePad UI instead and when you want to return to desktop mode it should work just like in SteamOS and it should return me to the Manjaro KDE desktop environment.
Can anybody please tell me which steps i should take to achieve this?
greetings

I'm making a mining/automation cozy game with native Linux support - Chipmatic
This is Chipmatic, a cozy factory building game where you control a mining robot on a mission to reach Earth’s core.
In Chipmatic you'll explore deep underground, research new tech and create the best (and only) factory on Earth. It's inspired by games like Dome Keeper, Mining Mechs and the old flash game Motherload.
It will have native support for Linux when we release the demo, and also for the full game.

New to Linux gaming (Fedora 42) – DualSense adaptive triggers work but no vibration on The Last Of Us / Low FPS spikes (nano stuttering) on RDR2
Hi everyone,
I’m new to Linux gaming and currently running Fedora 42 with GNOME. Here are my specs in case it helps:
- Distro: Fedora 42 GNOME
- Kernel: 6.15.5-200.fc42.x86_64
- RAM: 32 GB DDR5
- GPU Driver: MESA 25.1.4
- GPU: AMD Radeon 7900XTX
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X 8-Core
My goal with Fedora was to have a clean, modern OS with the latest MESA updates for good hardware support.
Main issue:
When playing The Last Of Us on Steam with my DualSense controller, adaptive triggers work perfectly but vibrations don’t. I’ve tried Proton GE 10.0-1, experimental, and hotfix versions but still no vibration.
Other issue:
With Red Dead Redemption 2, I get generally good FPS, but experience low FPS spikes (nano stuttering) that make the gameplay feel less smooth and uncomfortable.
I’m open to switching to another OS if it means a better Linux gaming experience. Does anyone have recommendations for distros or setups that handle these issues better?
Thanks in advance for your help!

How to properly use Limo mod manager
Long story short: I discovered Limo and tried to use it to install mods for Subnautica but problem is that Limo deploys mods just in game's root folder instead of Subnautica/BepInEx/plugins/ folder. Of course I can manually move mods but I'd like to do it automatically. Please help
